  1. If you do go for a cove, make sure you are forward of the midship elevators, otherwise you will be under the galley. If you decide to try one, I would do it on a shorter cruise. 25 days is a long time to find out you don’t like it. EM
  2. Be aware that any outlet in the bathroom will not be live until you turn on the light switch. Which defeats the purpose of a plug in nightlight. EM
  3. Welcome to Cruise Critic. There are many forums here where you can research and ask your questions. You might go to the Ports of Call board for Europe and ask advice on touring the Cinque Terre…EM
  4. Costa Maya is much like Cozumel as far as the port is concerned…long pier, shopping village. No city. I think you can go out the back and see if anyone can take you and the scooter on a tour/excursion. EM
  5. It is referred to as auto corrupt…EM
  6. Grand Cayman probably not, as it is a tender port. What do the cruise line excursions say about accessibility? Where in the Bahamas will you be stopping? Where in Mexico, and what are you wanting to do? EM
  7. As a retired nurse, I always thought CPAP was for sleep apnea, not COPD, and I have no idea if it is connected with smoking. CPAP is positive pressure, not oxygen. But irrational things/people do occur. I met a person on a cruise who has since ceased to cruise because her chosen line no longer allowed smoking on the balcony. But she uses oxygen at night…. EM
  8. I see you are there on the 14th with three other ships. But you are the first in. Too bad you are meeting friends early…the best entertainment in Nassau is being up on deck, fore or aft depending on how you are docked, and watching the other ships come in, do a 180 turn and back onto their slips. EM
  9. They have had them on Celebrity since Solstice in 2008. EM
  10. This best asked on the board here for NCL. A lot may depend on the ship. EM
  11. You might also see if there is a roll call for your cruise, and what the members are planning. You might also visit the Hawaii board here under Ports of Call. Lots of places here to find info, do research. EM
  12. Assuming you meant Jan 29, 2024… Since it appears you are on a partial transit, you will have locked up through the Agua Clara (new) locks into Gatun Lake. You will then tender ashore to your tour bus. That will take you to where you board the excursion boat/ferry. Possible at Gamboa. Then you will travel down the canal, through the Culebra Cut, under the Centennial Bridge, and probably through the Pedro Miguel locks. Further transit would be through the Miraflores Locks, probably time and traffic allowing. You would not see or transit through the Gatun Locks. Return to Colon would be by bus. As long as you have been through one of the original locks, you have seen them all. It is just that the Miraflores (2 locks) and Gatun (3 locks) seem busier. EM Im thinking the expansion of the canal tour will take you to the visitors center overlooking the Agua Clara Locks, which you have just passed through. EM
  13. You would need to ask on the Princess board, but it seems to start with a favorable rate to move to the other cruise, plus refund of the current fare as refundable OBC. But it may be more than that. Depends on how desperate they are. EM
  14. I have, in the past, seen posts with questions like this where a person or group is planning on taking school supplies /various other items to donate to a school/orphanage/charitable organization in a country on their itinerary, usually in a Central American country. I think they had to get permission from the cruise line, which may have had to get permission from the country. I have read that people hoping to take laundry ashore on a longer cruise or B2B were denied at the gangway…EM
  15. I applied online and it has said ‘received’ since JAN 12. Guess I won’t hold my breath. I have a short Bahamas cruise booked for March 2 but can use BC for that. Uncomfortable, since I haven’t traveled without a passport since 1972. EM
  16. I think you are considered to be in transit. You don’t encounter customs until you return to the US. EM
  17. On Carnival, they call them cove balconies, and on Cunard they are sheltered balconies. But both have square openings, instead of round. EM
  18. When you fly into another country, YOU ALWAYS NEED A PASSPORT! EM
  19. I am experiencing the same thing with MSC. In fact, I was also having trouble with Carnival…. I did discover that one travel agency with a XX day ticker seems to be able to book the cruises I am interested in as a single. But I have only viewed on their website, you have to call to book. EM
  20. Why don’t you go to the Ports of Call boards here? Lots of good info there. EM
  21. I have seen wheelchairs on the local tenders used for Belize. They rolled onto the upper level. But I never could figure out how they get to the lower level to get off. EM
  22. Except for a couple of balcony cabins on the Grand, all balcony cabins have twins that are put together to form a bed a bit larger than a queen, but.not a full king. Because the third bed is a bunk in the ceiling that comes down above the twin/queen, they would prefer the beds be separated, otherwise when the cabin steward is makin up the bed he would have to stand on the bed below. EM
  23. Thank you for the update and pictures. The question is if it is a port call, is tendering better…. EM
  24. You would be importing the contents into Mexico and I’m sure they have regulations…. EM
