Final thoughts of my 3 day Liberty sailing
Essiesmom replied to OceanZena's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
@OceanZenai wish you would post a thread about the Live Transcribe app on the Disabled Cruise board here. Every so often there are threads bemoaning the situation for the hearing impaired. It is hoped that those who would benefit the most would also not be the Luddites who refuse to own a cellphone… And it seems like a good app for people who don’t speak the prevailing language. people who only speak Chinese, Korean, Spanish…. And @Jamman54, would Patty find this useful? EM -
If you become serious about Princess Alaska, I suggest Grand or Sapphire from Vancouver/Whittier. Both ships have a covered pool. When in Glacier Bay, a group of park rangers come on for commentary, and they run a junior ranger program for the kids. They are older ships, but this trip would be for the itinerary. EM

"Just" a Balcony. Will I Feel Like a Second Class Citizen?
Essiesmom replied to land64shark's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Although I would like to try Luminae, I was not overly impressed by Blu. When sailing with my sister, I would try to book a balcony because she liked to sit out there and read. But she is gone, and I seldom used the balcony. So I book the cheapest inside. It is sufficient for me. The on,y suite perk I might like would be free laundry. But since I no longer take long cruises, my one bag as Elite is fine. EM -
What is your itinerary? You would not be illegally entering France, nor would there be customs/immigration if your previous port is a Schengen country. What has been denied - but not illegal - may become permitted again. EM

I e had some great cabins that were gty. Way back in 2012 I had booked a partially obstructed balcony on Silhouette from Venice. A few days later, X ran a special, get a gty balcony for the price of an inside. I jumped on it, as even if I got a fully obstructed balcony I would be saving $1200. We got a hump balcony, no obstruction. Now I am back to sailing solo, so cabin doesn’t matter, cheapest gty will do. EM

I believe it was stated it is a 4 day cruise, a repo. Not continuing to Alaska. EM

Onboard Silhouette now, binocular Q please.
Essiesmom replied to *Fudge*'s topic in Celebrity Cruises
If there are none in the cabin, it is likely because they went home with a previous occupant. Doubt the stock many extras. EM -
Choose your cabin location for the itinerary, not for canal day. It’s only one day of the cruise and you should want to be moving around for different views. Remember, Ruby and Emerald will be using the new locks, not the original historic locks. Emerald on full transit today:

En Route with Hank in Japan and the Westerdam
Essiesmom replied to Hlitner's topic in Holland America Line
My only visit to Tokyo (other than changing planes) was in 1984, and in trying to manage the subway, there was always someone seeing your concern and stopping to help. They all want to practice their English. (Found the same in China in 1983 & 1993). EM -

Avoid any cabin that says ‘junior’, as they can be a lot smaller. Unless you really like having a bathtub, avoid those cabins with a B on the deck plan. With a tub more space is required for the bathroom, so the interior of the cabin will be a bit smaller. And generally they are only for two guests. They have a loveseat instead of a couch. EM

Upper Berth Celebrity Equinox - on wall or up into ceiling?
Essiesmom replied to hmcrn's topic in Celebrity Cruises
In the ceiling. EM -
How do you know the food and entertainment would be better on Princess? It’s all a matter of opinion and taste. But I would go for the package deal. EM

Whoever wrote the ad with ‘your’ should be referred to Captain Kate’s video of a few years ago…. EM

Costa Maya is a long pier and sort of t-shaped. No telling how you will dock. Cozumel you dock downtown at Punta Langosta, don’t remember which side has faced town. Nassau, depends on whether you head in or back in. No idea about port Canaveral…is that your home port or a port call? EM

Passport requirements on trans Panama cruise
Essiesmom replied to JudiinMt's topic in Princess Cruises
I would imagine being a fly on the wall behind checkin could be as entertaining as watching pier runners…EM -
Passport requirements on trans Panama cruise
Essiesmom replied to JudiinMt's topic in Princess Cruises
Well, one thing is for sure: when they are denied boarding, they won’t come back to that forum and report their mistake. But they might come here and do a first post rant…. EM -

Princess and Holland America one cruise line
Essiesmom replied to juniper berries's topic in Princess Cruises
If you have sailed any line in the Carnival family, you are considered a past guest on HAL. If you were to make a dummy booking on HAL, and it asks for your Mariner number, you will find you already have one. Another interesting thing about the Carnival family…my Cunard World Club number is the same as my Princess Captains Circle number. EM -

If you click on LT Hambone’s avatar, it will take you to his current activity. Scroll down through A zamara activity and you will find he did a full review of the cruise. I didn’t read it, it you might find info there. EM
