  1. Loved that aft cabin! Best view of wake cruising at night, arriving in port in morning have a nice room service breakfast on the balcony . 4123 is end of hall and next to Explorer suite, very quiet, no hall traffic. Con: It is a bit of a walk to the nearest elevator, and the laundry room is on Port side a long way toward the front. This DV1 is the same size as all other DV cabins, just a super location. Book it and enjoy. Bar waiters loved our room number, easy to remember: (4 pause 123)when you have the Silver Spirit package. LOL On this next trip we are down in a DV 6.
  2. MSUjohn,, Our economy air for Delta flights to and from AMS , and our KLM flights to Stockholm and for Conenhagen to AMS, is $1900 .pp. TOTAL . We booked through Delta vacations and also did three night hotel stay in Stockholm pre cruise. the hotel is extra. These tickets are exchangeable. for a fee. Good luck to you on finding a flight that does not break the bank this winter . rkacruiser, The KLM flights are within Europe, short flights. The Delta flight is the long haul to and from MSP. I did like the food on my previous KLM flights. They have great bread, nice wine.
  3. Agree! My sister and I just booked multi city route for our Viking cruise in June. MSP -AMS to Stockholm. Return is from Copenhagen to AMS -MSP. Delta /KLM, got nice long layovers and no getting up at crack of dawn for predawn flights. We are happy , but this the most I have spent on European flights from the Midwest. So be it. It is better in my mind than the Viking Air plus and not getting the same route for less money. Hope the airports are better staffed come next summer.
  4. Put your paper luggage tags on and go to pier. You will give them your luggage at check in with Viking personal or at curb side depending upon the embarkation port . I always keep my bag that I put under my plane seat with me till I get to my stateroom which had always been immediately after we board .
  5. Yes, it was a very nice feature of Cruise Critic . But looks like this site has changed too. No more organizing with cruise lines for a meet and greet. It also seems that they are short hosts for various forums . I think meet and greets helped increase roll call postings too.
  6. Just booked airfare Delta/KLM for our cruise next June. Staying in Stockholm for two nights before our cruise on Viking Jupiter. We booked the NOFO Hotel in Sodermalm area for two night pre cruise. Hotel is boutique type with a outdoor courtyard and wine bar. No AC but hopefully with a room fan , open window it can be cool at night. Looking forward to exploring that area and also old town area. Very excited. Any suggestions for good lunch or dinner near by ?
  7. Hurricane force winds in that part of the world. OH MY! Hope the ship is ok and the weather improves.
  8. Love, love the waffles at Mamsen deli in Explore Lounge. Now try the liverposti for lunch and you are a true Dane. 😍

    payment

I have used this method for all my four Viking cruises. It is basically a e -check that comes right out of my checking account in about two days after my TA makes the payment . 3.3% is better than nothing.
  10. I do access one FB page about Viking , it is not the infamous one which I left after the Bermuda cruise of 2021 fiasco. I find it very hard to have a discussion on the site. Most of the the threads are for river cruises. I personally do not like FB or most social media.
  11. If Celebrity has dead roll calls, it is probably due to the lack of participation on Cruise Critic by cruisers! Also the demise of CC meet and greet also is a factor. the roll calls on Viking in 2021, which joined were slow too. Many new posters who came from the other social media site and were new to CC. My current roll call for June 2023 is also very slow. Bu the two or three folks who posted are a delight. Final point: my friend looked at her upcoming roll call for Viking Mars in late Sept. She said I would never post there , they are all couple and I am traveling with my long time friend. So there you go.... many reason that roll calls have changed from the old days here on CC.
  12. Go to Spa desk once you get on board , even before your lunch. We did and made spa appointments for our treatments on first choice times and day. Enjoy.
  13. It is video with audio. It is taken by someone on the Viking Miss.
  14. I was there many years ago on Celebrity Equinox. We were first ship in caldera. After lunch we saw five ship anchored. It was a long line to the the lift, so we walked down the donkey path , it was 97 F in July. Second time we were on the Celebrity Constellation. We decided to have a day on board and never got off the ship. It was lovely day.
  15. IMG_5872.MOV The Viking Mississippi will get this kind of reception along this mighty river. People of the Midwest living along the river are a welcoming bunch. They also wave a lot! This is at lock #5 along MN /WI border. on the Upper Miss.
  16. So happy to read a live trip report or blog here on Viking forum. So glad you had a great guide and wonderful Greek lunch in Athens. Hope the Restaurant service is better the next time you dine there. I love Manfredi. I try to order smaller portions because it is so much food , and I love it all.
  17. Great weekend ahead. The Viking Mississippi will be in Red Wing MN on Friday and come into historic Lambert's Landing in St. Paul. It is a huge deal. I know many will turns out to welcome the Viking Riverboat to St. Paul. I will have a glass of bubbly to celebrate the Viking Mississippi. docking at my hometown port !!!!!!! 🥂
  18. It was a tour by a guide works at the church. We had preordered tickets . The guides , many of them outside , we join group of English speaking. We probably had 10 people on our group . You wear audio boxes . They work . We were there in the morning . The first time it was a private guide and 8 of us . It was Spanish Day Tours , many years ago .
  19. See if anyone did a cruise review. Link at top of page . We are doing this sailing June 2023. It is only being offered twice . Originally it was the Russia and Baltic itinerary back in 2021. very excited for this unique sailing.
  20. This was the reply from Host Ann, on the Celebrity board ,when I inquired about when CC will start M& Greet, yesterday. "It's not up to Cruise Critic. It is up to the cruise line. If I hear of anything I will post it here but thus far, I don't have any additional information." So I suggest someone on a roll call contact Viking about two months before sailing and try to set it up on the ship your cruise. I plan to do it with my roll call next Spring.
  21. WOW, first cruise and you are sailing for 117 days! So excited for you. What an adventure you will have, please stop in on this forum and share your experiences .
  22. I started my paperback book reading the first nigh in cabin. I used a piece of note tablet paper for my book mark. The next day after the morning cleaning of our cabin, I found a lovely Viking Bookmark had replaced my simple piece of paper. The book was nicely placed on my bedside table. Attention to detail for sure.
  23. lackcreativty, All my private tours were on Celebrity sailings. Since doing Viking Ocean, I have been done the included tours or one of the optional tours. I have found them exactly what they stated. The optional ones were outstanding, and well worth the price. And the price was not outlandish .
  24. Is Cruise Critic going to restate the Meet and Great for the various cruise lines in 2023? I know it will help the membership of roll calls in many forums.
  25. What ports are you visiting? I have done private tours, used Spanish Day tours and Barcelona day tours when in Spain . excellent. at the same time on our roll call, a member found a indivdul our guide for the Basque Region of Spain. One of the best tours ever!!! I found a Wine expert for a great our in Italy. Both times we researched a lot on the internet to find the person and then emailed them , with ongoing conversations. Also in Turkey we had great private guides which I researched by myself. Summary, you can find private tour guides but do you research first. Roll calls are a great place to find additional folks to fill out the van for the private day tour.
