  1. New special March savings of Free Category Upgrade & $1000 Shipboard Credit on certain Ocean Sailings. Ask for MES23. Brochure arrived in the mail today.
  2. If there is a tour to Rostock it is a fascinating city. The beach at Warnemunde is an interesting experience….lots of people, shops, ice cream, etc.
  3. If history is of interest, the National Museum of History is fascinating. Great exhibits!
  4. I am totally unfamiliar with Los Angeles. Where is the port located that Viking uses for the Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale Panama Canal cruises. Can you recommend a nearby hotel for an overnight stay? Many thanks!
  5. If you have seen “everything” Copenhagen that interests you, consider a day trip by train/bus going to Roskilde (train) for the Viking Ship Museum and Cathedral; bus to Humlebaek for the amazing art museum, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, train back to Copenhagen. Have done this many times with tour groups on the “free” day and it is always a hit….and a chance to get outside of Copenhagen.
  6. Vigur Island is an interesting trip from Isafjordur. Agree with “do the Golden Circle tour”!
  7. Either the Myvatn or the Voss natural baths will be a lot less “ touristy” than Blue Lgoon. I know nothing about the Voks baths, but the Myvatn experience gets high praise.
  8. NIN can be booked by your TA (or yourself) thru the NIN website. It has been THE tour to do in Bergen for years and is easy to do on your own. (www.norwaynutshell.com). Since you are probably spending at least one night in port in Bergen this is easy to do.
  9. What is being done for the people who will be boarding the ship and have to wait an extra day to do so? Providing hotel, rooms,? Just curious.
  10. There used to be a number of operators who did this. Google “Reykjavik Excursions” or just search “Pier to Blue Lagoon to Airport Tours” and you should find some.
  11. Yes. We hiked down and saw a number of bikers. The path is wide enough and the hikers give right of way to the bikers (at least they did the day we hiked).
  12. One of the “perks” for an upcoming cruise is an “air discount” of $499. We prefer to make our own flight arrangements…(more convenient flights, upgrade, arrival a day early). Can we get a credit to our Viking account for the amount of the discount if we choose not to use it?
  13. We sailed last year in June-July with no ports skipped. Could have skipped Bornholm…least interesting stop IMO.
  14. If you have no children going, look into Viking Cruises. Their “special area” is Scandinavia, including Iceland.
  15. For us the best part of the PS experience was the free laundry, second sink in the bathroom and earlier choice of excursions. Will make it hard/impossible to return to a PV.
  16. If you are interested in art, the Lofotens are (were) considered the center for North Norwegian artists and there are a number of interesting galleries.(Gallery Dagfinn Bakke is a favorite.) The Lofoten War Museum is also interesting. Numerous places to eat. An interesting church. Hiking is also popular, but it is a lot of “up-hill”.
  17. Use the Norwegian rail site to book your tickets: vy.no. Very reliable.
  18. You are correct re: Flam; I thought you were referring to Bergen.
  19. Google lists the ship docking area as a 23 minute walk to the railroad station.
  20. I am on the same page as edinburgher and would only add that for us, Tingvellir and its geology was the best part of the Golden Circle. As an aside, edinburgher, I love your city. Have spent many wonderful days there and always find something new to “discover”.
  21. You are correct. Our cruise was a 29 day combination “Into the Midnight Sun” (this one he mentioned), and “Homelands”. My comments were for the “Homelands” part….it had been a looooong day!🥴
  22. If there is an excursion to Vigur Island from Isafjordur and you are interested in nature, take it. Did this many years ago and it is one of my favorite memories from this area.
  23. Great way to see the important places in this part of Iceland.
