  1. Your cabin water is the same water as the filling station. It is also just a pure and drinkable as any bottled water. Your cabin steward can and probably does supply ice every day
  2. We are interesting in Eastern and Southern as we hear it's overall nicer. This sounds like two 7 day cruises b2b sold as a single booking. The ship returns to Ft. Lauderdale after the first week. It is nice to have these two different itineraries. You should know that when you return to Ft. Lauderdale you will have to pass through immigration. There are procedures for b2b passengers. You will have the option to take a tour or leave the ship and explore Ft. Lauderdale on your own. If you select this option then passport, medallion and intransit card in hand you clear immigration on the way off. You return to the ship anytime after general boarding has begun up to about 30minutes before sailing time. There is a notice at the gangplank for latest return time. If you choose to stay on board then there will be a meeting location and procedure that is required, no exceptions. Here are some tips. I find it is usually better to book as two 7 day cruises. This gives you more flexibility and there is normally very little difference in cost. There are normally more cabin selections when booking this way. When booking as two cruises if you like your cabin selection and do not want to risk moving cabins on turn around day then have your bookings marked no upgrades. You will have a single on board account for the entire time you are on board. Any money owed will be charged to your credit card on your final disembarkation day. Princess has offered a limited number of 14 day Circle the Caribbean cruises. This is a single voyage that does not return to Ft. Lauderdale. People like them. The ship has time to reach the most southern Caribbean islands, and it does not return to Ft. Lauderdale until the end of the 14 days. You may want to look for one of these sailings.
  3. Haven't cruised before so we don't know what kind of entertainment would really appeal to us. There will be theater shows every evening including productions shows and guest entertainers. Guest entertainers are acts like comics, magic, singer/musicians, and maybe others. For production shows arrive 30 to 45 minutes early. For other entertainers arrive around 30 minutes early. In the evening there is live music in the lounges. Lounges and the Piazza usually have live pre-dinner music. We aren't big drinkers but enjoy something now and then so we like how Princess Plus includes a drink package. With the plus package it takes between 2 to 3 alcoholic beverages per person per day to break even. Depends on how many non alcoholic beverages are consumed and if you order beers or cocktails. And I believe Princess has room service available for a cover charge, vs the terrible ala carte system Carnival has. There are 3 ways to order room service. 1) the breakfast door hanger. Includes basic cont. breakfast items. You may also be able to write in certain items. Fill out the evening before, hang on your door and the order is delivered as requested. No charge for this service. A tip is normal, but not required. 2) Using the app or TV. This is included in the plus fare, no additional charge. 3) Over the phone. Contrary to post #13 fairly certain this is also included in the plus fare. The room service menu includes some items with an extra charge and some items that are no charge. Basic orders for coffee, tea, doughnuts/Danish, egg sandwich do not incur a charge. Full suite passengers can order room service off the full DR menu. All others have to use the RS menu.
  4. The Sun Deck walkway provides cover, port and starboard. Not sure about the cover on the 2 fwd suites
  5. Adagio Lounge - Deck 16 aft Skywalker's - Nice views, Deck 18 aft, may be a smoking section on starboard side can't remember exactly. At times Club Fusion near the windows. This lounge is used for various activities throughout the day such as Zumba, trivia, PES lounge, bingo. Seating areas outside of Explorer's Lounge next to the windows. Outside protected, Lotus Spa Pool, Deck 16 fwd. Horizon Terrace Deck 15 aft. Wheelhouse Bar. Soft leather seating. Not used very much during daytime hours. Crooner's, deck 7 mid ship Check the daily Patter for activities in these areas.
  6. What are your favorite things about the ship? Enjoy the grand class ships much better than Royal Class. In my opinion they have a better design. Likes: 360 promenade, Lounges - Explorer's, Club Fusion, Wheelhouse Bar/Salty Dog Gastropub, Crooner's, Skywalker's, and the very quiet Adagio Lounge. Viewing - Lots of nice viewing locations on the upper open decks as well as the promenade. You can walk all the way to the nose of the ship on deck 8. Pools - 5 of them, Terrace Pool is a favorite of many. Bars - Vines wine bar is very popular. Your premier package will cover almost all wines by the glass. Vines is also a casual dining location. Cabins - nice in size. Showers are a little small, but very workable. Balconies are nice size, most are 9ft x 5ft. Deck 10 balconies are 9ft x 9ft partially covered, Deck 9 balconies are 9ft x 6ft uncovered. No information on interior cabins. Specialty Dining - Crown Grill, steak & chops, Sabatini's Italian. DR(s) open for breakfast and dinner each day and lunch on sea days. Buffet open every day from around 5am until 11pm. Never closes. International Cafe open 24/7. Room Service 24/7. Two casual dining locations are the Salty Dog Gastropub in the Wheelhouse Bar (not to be confused with the pool side, no charge, Salty Dog Grill), and Vines. I'm not certain if any other casual dining locations have been added to the Emerald. Shows each evening in the Princess theater. With the premier package you will have a section of seating reserved up until around 10/15 minutes before showtime for production shows only. For other guest entertainer shows plan on arriving about 30 minutes early. Two theater shows per evening. There will be live music in the lounges each evening. Times will be shown in the daily Patter. Crooner's is very popular with the piano/singer. Wheelhouse usually has soft dance music. Explorer's or Club Fusion usually has rock/top 40 type of music. There will be other musical events that differ each day. Examples might be something like Princess Orchestra plays Dixieland Jazz in the Piazza. Soft Jazz in Adagio. It all depends on what musical groups are on board.
  7. Deck 11 Baja, what is the space across from 602 - 620? Most likely the cabin steward storage area. There may also be some mechanicals in that area. What are the doors for in the main hallway, not the laundry doors? Same thing from 624 - 630. They are fire doors that automatically close in case of a fire. You will notice that cabins on one side of a fire door start with a different number than the adjacent cabin on the other side of the door. These are the fire zones. On many ships balcony partitions do not open between fire sections. is the balcony covered on Baja or just partially. Are the decks staggered so people can see onto the balconies above & below? Almost all balconies are 9ft x 4ft and fully covered. Royal Class ships are not layered like Grand Class ships.
  8. If you wish to have the full suite experience then it's worth it. You can't justify the extra expense in other ways.
  9. No bags at all? the purchase can just be carried back to the cabin. It's all goes into luggage anyway. I wouldn't consider walking around the ship with purchases.
  10. Also the itinerary. Is the turn around at a U.S. port? Any U.S. ports visited before reaching the turn around? Is the port in Europe?
  11. Sounds something like Vancouver to San Pedro followed by RT Hawaii. In order to provide accurate advice the poster really has to provide the names of the ports.
  12. I would visit the Captain's Circle person on the first cruise just to assure Princess has your records correct.
  13. There will be a production or guest entertainer shows each evening with an early and late showtime. There will be evening activities such as the marriage game, yes/no game, theme parties like a deck party, karaoke throughout the cruise. Each evening there will be live music in Crooner's, Explorer's Lounge, Wheelhouse Bar. As you get closer to sailing more will be posted. Once onboard there is a newsletter each evening which lists all of the next day events. There is more to do than you can attend. You will have to choose. Theater shows will be crowded. For production shows arrive 30 to 45 minutes early for seat selection. For guest entertainers arrive at least 30 minutes early. Activities like the marriage game will be SRO.
  14. You really need to tell us the turn around port. If it is a U.S. port then you will be required, no exceptions, to be processed through immigration. The logistical process can be a little different at different ports, but the legal requirement is the same. Most times at U.S. ports you have to report to a gathering area, usually the theater. When everyone is accounted for a staff member will guide you off the ship, through immigration and then back onto the ship. Occasionally immigration will come onto the ship. The process remains the same. Immigration would set up a station on the ship. The staff member will guide you through that station. You will receive instructions in your cabin. Read and follow them exactly. If even one person fails to show then everyone doing the b2b and every new passenger is delayed until that person is located. If the port is somewhere other than the U.S. then the process is different. If you are remaining in the same cabin, just leave your belongings. The cabin steward will service your cabin in the normal way. If you are changing cabins there is an easy process.
  15. Each adult is permitted to carry on 1 x 750ml of wine without fee for use in your cabin. Additional bottles can be carried on and are subject to the corkage fee when boarding. These bottles will be marked and can be used anywhere on the ship. If a non marked bottle is brought to the DR it will be subject to a $20/bottle corkage fee. Yes it can be stored. It does not have to be the same DR, can be any DR or a specialty restaurant. The breakeven for the plus fare is between 2 and 3 alcoholic beverages pp/day. Plus fare applies to passengers 1 & 2 in the cabin. Additional passengers are optional. If the youth get the plus fare they would receive the non alcoholic package. It probably isn't worth it for them, but I haven't actually done the math. The plus fare includes wines by the glass. These are fairly good wines, but not the best. If you order a glass which is in excess of the $15 menu price you will be charged the difference + 18%. Example an $18 glass of wine would cost $3 + 54cents, $3.54 if you have the plus fare. Plus fare includes bottles water. Pick up bottles at any bar. Not certain, but believe water is ordered through Princess.com site. Log into your cruise.
  16. All (excluding HCP) Sapphire Princess port & starboard balcony category, B2, BD, BE, deck 10 balconies are 9ft x 9ft with 5ft of cover and 4ft uncovered. Balconies have 2 chairs and one small table. There may also be some foot rests. The interiors are all the same with one desk chair, lower bed in queen or twin config. 3rd and 4th berths lower from the ceiling. When the upper berths are required the lower berths need to be in the twin config. Each cabin has a TV, fridge, large open closet, shower. The word 'premium' only refers to location being more mid ship. There are no extra benefits. I have frequently booked cabins on deck 10, on the Sapphire and other grand class ships. I found that cabins more aft, cat BD, save a little money. I find no difference in being a little aft from being more mid ship.
  17. Not only can the plus fare be purchased for the 3rd person in the cabin, But I would think Princess would encourage the purchase. You can also purchase the first day on board, $60/day.
  18. Princess' rule is that each adult is allowed 1 x 750ml bottle of wine to be carried on board without a fee use in one's cabin. Additional bottles can be carried on board, are subject to a $20 corkage fee on boarding and are marked. If corkage free bottles are used in a public area they are subject to the corkage fee. I would think that if you request glasses for corkage free bottles from Princess then that would cause the $20 corkage fee for each bottle. However, if the corkage has already been paid and bottles are marked then I don't see any fee issue, other than where, how to get the glasses and such.
  19. Another question. The Ruby is scheduled to transit the P.C. in a few days. The P.C. has reduced transits due to lack of water. Any word on board about delays in the crossing?
  20. When Princess cancels a port stop they send out an itinerary change. I looked up a random January 2024 cruise with a stop in P.V. There are a number of excursions offered. I see no evidence that ships will not stop there. You should contact your T.A. or whoever you booked with to see if there were any itinerary changes. If you are looking for general information you can find that by searching for what's in port. This is just one site: https://www.whatsinport.com/Puerto-Vallarta.htm
  21. I surely hope that those areas remain cigarette only. What about the conference center. Has that been converted to a cigar lounge? On the three original Grand Class ships that area was a cigar lounge/bar.
  22. Where is cigar smoking now permitted? That would be an area I wish to avoid when boarding at the end of February.
  23. Sky Princess Nov 28, 2024 Southampton to Ft. Lauderdale. I don't believe there are any Princess ships that sail from the U.S. to Southampton in September. They are all sailing to the Caribbean.
