  1. If I skip this service on my cruise what will I be missing out on? The level of service is one of the things that attracts people to cruise lines. clean bathroom, fill shower soap, new bars of hand soap, replace toilet paper rolls, clean sheets, make the bed, take out the trash (there is no place to dump trash yourself and it is separated by the cabin steward), new clean towels, vacuum, dust, outside cabin clean the glass, any notices or paperwork will be kind of attached to your door if not placed in your cabin. Better to have this done each day. If you call the steward's number you may get a delivery when you are in your cabin or maybe when you are away from the cabin. How are you going to do all this yourself without calling the cabin steward? Cabin stewards are tested frequently. I would not worry about them entering your cabin.
  2. Military Vet? You can get the military benefit OBC. Look up Princess Cruises Military Benefit on line. https://www.princess.com/military_benefit_program/ Own Carnival corp stock? You can receive the shareholder's benefit OBC. Look up Carnival Corp shareholder's benefit on line. https://www.carnivalcorp.com/shareholder-information/shareholder-benefit
  3. Postings #5 and #6 are the correct answers to your example. When accounts are linked, such as a married couple, each will have their own on board account and there will also be a summary account balance. You can follow the summary as many times a day as you like in the onboard account program or get print outs from passenger services. At the end of the cruise the credit card will be charged $50, $100 minus the $50 credit. Refundable or non refundable has no bearing in your example as all OBC has been used up. Using funds in the casino or for dining does not apply as in your example you have a net debit balance. This will just result in additional charges to your account(s). Refundable or non refundable only applies when at the end you have a net credit balance. Princess accounting system uses non refundable OBC first then refundable.
  4. Slots Place your medallion on the circle on the the slot machine, identical to when you inserted your cruise card. Follow directions to set up a casino account. Select the amount you wish to play, example $100. The $100 will be charged to your on board account and will transfer to your casino account. When finished you cash out your play by hitting the cash out button. Take your medallion to the cashier and get your cash. No requirement to cash out each time you play. You can hold $$ in your casino account for future play. If you wish to play with cash set up your casino account as above. Instead of selecting an amount to be charged to your on board account insert cash. Tables: If you are playing tables you can drop cash on the table to purchase chips or you can place your medallion on the table and ask for chips to be charged to your on board account. When finished playing for the day or the cruise take the chips to the cashier to trade for cash or hold them for future play. All casino accounts have to be cashed out on the last day of each voyage.
  5. Pick a port day in the morning or mid day, a port that you have little interest in. Bring your own soap & dryer sheets. Get your tokens in advance, don't want a vending machine issue at the time you wish to do your laundry. Pack clothing that is easy to launder and quick to dry. If you are not gone too long consider sending your laundry out. A load of typical laundry, you pay by the piece not the bag, underwear, socks, T's, shorts, PJs will run around $50 to $60. Maybe $100 or so is worth the convenience to you. If you have a balcony some light weight clothing washed in the sink dry very quickly on the balcony, assuming you have warm days. Bring spring clothes pins to attach to the balcony chairs. Do not leave laundry on the balcony overnight. It will get very wet and sticky.
  6. Credit balances (OBC) or debit carry over. One summary invoice when you disembark. Casino accounts do not carry over. cash out on the final evening or before.
  7. The intention was or is to have each day's events listed before you board. They really do not show or are probably incomplete until you are close to boarding or actually on board. Events, formal evenings, show times, activities, live music groups, times and lounges are all under the control of each ship's Entertainment and Cruise Director. They are subject to change as staff changes.
  8. If you do early walk off wheeling all your luggage you should be able to be at the airport by 8:00am or shortly after. You can not make it if you place your luggage outside the cabin at night and pick it up in the terminal the next morning. Like post no. 2 mentions TSA pre-check and global entry will help speed things along. Taxis are all lined up ready to go. No delay there. Another option. Once on board ask at passenger services if they have EZ Check for your airline. If yes, Princess charges a small fee, maybe $25, for this service plus any airline baggage charges. Your baggage is collected placed on a truck and delivered to the airline. You do not see it again until your final destination. Passenger Services will have all the details.
  9. This depends on where the OP is sailing. Pricing is different for Aus/NZ residents on Aus/NZ sailings.
  10. I would have written the hotel manager mentioning names. Not only do elites & suites have a separate line, no passenger should be treated in this manner.
  11. Where are you sailing. In the Australia/NZ market fares include crew incentives. In other markets they are not included in the fare. The Plus Beverage Package includes all beverages menu priced US$12 (AU$16 for sailings in Australia/NZ) and under and includes the service charge. There is no additional per drink service charge.
  12. If it is before final payment date we always canceled the original booking and then re-booked under the new promo. We always did this via a travel agent and not directly on line. The TA was always able to re-apply the FCDs and retain the same cabin. When you do it on line without human interaction you may not be able to accomplish the same.
  13. Yes. If you have OBC, a credit balance, showing in your onboard account then any on board charges will net against the credit balance including the daily gratuities. The only exception that I am aware of is the purchase of Future Cruise Deposits (FCDs). These are charged directly to your credit card and do not pass through your on board account.
  14. Maybe one minute. But if you make one error you are out. In your example I have seen people begin with 1. They are out immediately.
  15. Historically Princess has released the type of cruise you are referring to around 18 months before the start of the season. That would be sometime very soon. TAs may receive information a few weeks earlier before it is released to the general public. What Steelers mentions about May 25 makes sense.
  16. You might think of it more like a bonus for exceeding the revenue income projections and not a weekly gratuity. Princess may have contractual wording for these situations, and the accounting sense bonuses may be funded from the gratuity pools. This could be a reason why Princess has the wording included.
  17. Any OBC that shows in your Princess records pre-cruise can be used to book excursions. This would include shareholders, military, Princess promotional OBC, maybe group OBC from a T.A.. Some OBC provided by TAs is not applied until just before boarding, thus not available for booking excursions.
  18. Princess eliminated the loyalty OBC along with some other benefits when they restarted in 2021. I don't like it, but that is how it is now. The $50 loyalty OBC ($100 if booked as two separate 7 day cruises) you did not receive would not be a make or break issue for us.
  19. Agree regarding the dining. Princess fixed a dining problem that was not broken so they could use it as an app feature. We were happy with anytime dining and many were happy with fixed seating. Why put passengers through all this extra effort of booking dining times. The previous ways worked well. Wonder how Dine My Way is rating in the post cruise surveys? Another point is that the Island Princess was originally built for 2,000 passengers. Back some time ago Princess added cabins to the entire aft section of the ship, but did not add any additional dining space.
  20. I don't think there would be an issue on disembark. If you took early walk off you could be at the airport in plenty of time for a 10:30 flight. You airplane arrival time of 12:10 would cause me stomach issues. From what I have heard and read airlines are not keeping to their schedules. We have always flew in for cruises the evening before sailing. That is what I would do.
  21. 3. The ship may have some games but best to bring your own. No cards. No card rooms. You have to find a table somewhere on the ship to play games. During the daytime one of the lounges when not in use, tables around the pools, tables on the aft deck, Piazza. You have to look around.
  22. Yes. Out the back doors and up a half flight of stairs to the Terrace Pool. There are some lounges adjacent to the pool. Up another half flight of stairs from the pool area to the Lido deck with more lounges, tables and chairs and Outriggers Bar. Inside to the Horizon Ct. buffet area.
  23. Wonder? On which lines & business models do service crews make more money? Where do crew like to work? I think it's the current Princess model sailing in North American market and other markets where there are lots of North Americans on board. Crew receive compensation from the crew incentive pool and in many cases directly from the passengers they serve.
  24. 1. All shows and guest entertainers are family friendly. All game events are also family friendly. Exceptions the marriage game, and maybe majority rules trivia. In both of these games passengers may get off color. 2. Don't think there is any restriction of youth attending bingo with their parents. On their own doubtful they would be allowed to purchase cards. 4. Yes, evening game shows are either in the Vista Lounge or Princess Live. Both of these are lounges that serve alcoholic beverages. They are not adults only, but it is possible that they may be asked to leave if not accompanied by an adult. Really depends on the activity. Example, karaoke is generally limited to adults and maybe older teens. While youth can probably watch they may not not be able to sing. The youth center pre-covid did have their own karaoke. There may be other games that are offered during the daytime in the Piazza area such as ring toss, paper airplane contest, egg drop contest. I have seen youth in these activities. 5. Don't count on well heated pools. They may be somewhat heated. 6. Don't know if there is a restriction posted, but I have seen youth in the hot tubs on other ships. The Discovery Princess is a new ship and this is its first season in Alaska. Comments are based on experience on other ships.
