  1. That is shocking. Too many low lives around that have no care or respect for anyone. Best wishes to you all. Bob.
  2. Pleased you are sorted. I booked at 8.30am, many would have stayed up until after midnight ! managed to get 7pm in Beech House, so very fortunate.
  3. Good morning, a lovely few days forecast so the patio will have visitors. Managed to book the Olive Grove and the Beech House for a couple of nights at each for our 17th Sep cruise on Arvia. Will be interesting to see the differences between her and Iona. Perdy, many thanks for pics and info of Sky Princess, have a lovely cruise.
  4. Have lovely cruise. We are booked for September 24 on Sky Princess so photos and comments will be welcomed.
  5. Collected my new car this afternoon. Drove into a shopping complex, I stayed in the car. Experimenting with the digital screen of the entertainment/ sat nav and suddenly a voice said "Which emergency service do you need ?" Brief thought of amazement and replied " So sorry, fiddling with screen on my new car" " Are you sure you're alright?" " Positive, so sorry." Still don't know how it happened, a red button is situated on the headliner near the windscreen. Imagined hearing sirens and police cars descending on me !! Love the car😁
  6. Yes but it's sorted knock for knock 😁
  7. Looking at Aurora and Arcadia prices for September and October 25, a balcony for 18 or 19 night cruises is very similar to the price I have paid for 35 nights on Iona for January 25. No thanks.
  8. Enjoy the car. We are also off to collect our car tomorrow, always get a buzz collecting a new car, especially with new plates.
  9. Nice to see our Police Lady is back 😁
  10. I'm certainly not going to pass judgement on whether the Captain should have docked or not. I have to say we have missed ports when there has been wind and weather conditions far less extreme. Did the weather deteriorate that much without prior warning ? An inquiry will establish facts known at the time, not what should have been done with benefit of hindsight.
  11. You would think so Andy, but often the opposite is safer. A huge ship the size of the Britannia, side on to the wind is like a huge sail and the forces are extreme. The old saying of riding out a storm being the best option is true. I experience it many times on a lot smaller ships in my time in the Royal Navy.
  12. Yes. The other poster just made up an answer. Attention seeker.
  13. Yes. Wants to argue about command of ship and posts info that I haven't seen elsewhere.
  14. Not wanting an argument. When decisions are made to miss a port due to weather, it is often at the last minute. Captains decision, noone else can or will over rule him/her.
  15. The Captain has full responsibility where safety of the ship and passengers/crew are concerned, not Carnival.
  16. Many questions to be answered by the Captain me thinks. Easy to comment with hindsight but I've missed ports when the weather and winds appear okay but the Captain has announced that the weather was expected to worsen so it would be a sea day..
  17. That's my sister in a nutshell. 98, very independent, partially sighted, hard of hearing and apart from a cleaner for two hours a week, does everything. I live 170 miles away so rely on her son (useless) and neighbours.
  18. I have had a very good life and know my parents would have been proud of all my family so I have a lot to be thankful for. Just enjoy life while you can, works for me.
  19. It's lovely for those of you that have had your parents for many years. I lost my father when I was 11 and mother at 19.Never saw me marry, have children, their children or my career. That's life.
  20. I've just been on the NHS site and find nothing on current booking arrangements for covid or flu. What's the secret password ?
