My wife is type 2 diabetic, almost certainly caused by her love for chocolate and sugar based food. She decided five months ago to cut them out, I was sceptical but to her credit she has totally changed her eating habits. She has lost 10 kgs and her insulin has dropped from 38 units twice a day to 8 units twice a day. Diabetic clinic are astounded and the hope is she will not need insulin in the near future. Just shows what can be done with willpower.

Surprised you comment on grumpy waiters and bar staff. Not my experience recently having cruised six times in 30 months with P&O. Lovely staff IMO.

Misty, rainy, miserable day 8c, oh well it's almost November. Planted spring bulbs in pots yesterday. This afternoon our squirrel neighbours decided to investigate. 30 minutes later pots protected with fine plastic netting secured over the pots. I know they are clever but they better not !!!!

The last time I walked out of the Naval Base was 50 years ago after 11 years service. Someone I knew walked out, turned around and stuck two fingers up to the Officer of the Day. Promptly arrested and served another 14 days under punishment !

Terrible news re collision of to ships of German coast with a British tanker sinking and more than 20 missing. Iona is currently assisting search and rescue mission. I am not religious but my thoughts and hopes are willing that survivors are found.

I got a great deal on Arvia for Jan 25 on Iona. Seems they are trying to reward current cruisers with good offers to book again.

Interested to read they are still giving onboard deals on future cruises. I am hoping to get a deal onboard Azura in January.

My point is that cruise lines promising lowest prices at launch will not be able to match these late deals and struggle. It cannot be sustainable.

These deals make the thread title look silly. Arcadia 9th December 12 nights Southampton to the med, balcony £595, inside £495. Ventura same prices for December, and others similar.

I agree., t's not sustainable. They will get creative as Crompton21 has said when it happened before.

It"s nowhere near the lower price I paid onboard Arvia for the Jan 25 Iona 35 night cruise.

They have announced that 24/25 launch prices will be the lowest, they will only increase.

Very interesting point. Whether they could be challenged in the Small Claims Court is debatable. I would give it a go if I was affected.

It's not a price match promise, it's a promise that the launch price will not be beaten.

Lot of comments on social media. There will always be cruises which don't sell well and are usually drastically reduced near sail date. Are they going to sail well under occupancy ? Can't see it working.

Our elders cakes, pies bread etc were always the best. My father's mum from South Devon made the best pasties, to die for.
