  1. I could get a Blue Light Card but have a Defence Discount Card which I find better. I have always got TA discount along with DDC OBC and Shareholder OBC on a Select fare. I joined RN in 1962 and police in 73 so the police training compared to the RN was a doddle !
  2. Lol, days of Sirs and saluting long gone. Never went to Tulliallan, some of the training establishments were very nice. The Police National College, Bramshill was an ex stately home in Hampshire
  3. So did I ! I worked closely with the Army in the latter years of my Police career and was a member of the Mess with the honorary "rank" of Lt Col and paid Mess fees accordingly. Not bad of an ex Petty Officer in RN !
  4. Thank you. Pity others compare veterans with scaffolders.
  5. Yes, Civil Servants risk their lives. It is a nice gesture you obviously disagree with. No more comment from me.
  6. I don't consider it a discount. One is a sweetener to entice you to book another cruise, the other is given in recognition of service. A discount to me is a price reduction.
  7. When we returned from our Arvia cruise in early October I received am email offering £100 OBC if I booked a cruise before 31st December. I subsequently booked a cruise last week and was informed by by excellent TA that I couldn't have the extra OBC and military OBC. I am grateful that P&O acknowledge Veterans service with OBC but I feel it is very mean to not give the "Welcome Home" OBC as well. Others may well disagree.
  8. I would not have been amused, who ever thought of that ?
  9. We were offered an upgrade from suite to Penthouse Suite a few weeks ago for our Jan 24 cruise. Minimum bid of £600 pp, no thanks
  10. We are looking foreward to the experience in just over 4 weeks.
  11. Thank you. Sounds just what I would want from a luxury cruise.
  12. Snow gone and milder, quick trip into town later. Been looking at Seabourn for a significant birthday treat in a couple of years. Anyone experienced any of there ships ?
  13. I know you're a fan of Fred but they could give me enough discount and we are balcony lovers and their prices are ridiculous for balconies.
  14. Why ask on here ?You will probably get the right answer but much safer to research yourself.
  15. I have never had appalling MDR service, if I did I would speak to the Restaurant Manager.
  16. Thanks Purdy, looking forward to our cruise next month. Murky, cold and more snow forecast to add to the covering we have, lovely, not. A day to stay in the warm. Stay safe.
  17. Another cold day after overnight snow. A North/South divide with the weather, the cold spell is set to continue where we are until at least mid week. Decorations are up and Marie has done a good job, even my den has a little Christmas tree !
  18. I don't mind slumming it 😁 We are in R409 on 5th Jan next year so will experience the suite life for the first time.
  19. Same. R404, I bet you're next door, hope you don't snore !
  20. 9th Jan 26. Last suite my agent said. Just checked, 10th Jan says one available.
  21. Very cold outside, not that I've been out and no intention to. I booked another cruise yesterday. Kept looking at the Black Friday deals and found a suite onboard the Azura for Jan 26, 14 nights, with a total of £550 OBC, flying from Manchester for just under £2000 pp. It's a long way off but something else to look forward to. Christmas decoration day, got everything out of the garage yesterday so it will keep Marie quiet !!
  22. Good morning. My wife is pestering to put up the decorations but I've said it's too early. Think I'll suggest Saturday afternoon, keep her quiet while I watch sport 😀
