  1. Many ships of many cruise lines have been delayed before. Based on this: You will probably be out of luck, or at least you will not be rebooked unless you specifically ask and pay for.
  2. Allright, so I was lucky with my Lufthansa flight.
  3. An option I once took: Went to the airport with the cruiseline's transfer, checked in early, thus checked in my luggage, too, and started another day of sightseeing from there.
  4. In the past, I sometimes used shared transportation, i.e. supershuttle. I understand this one went out of business. Is there anything equivalent?
  5. I know a number of people who have done this on various cruise lines, including couples who prefered an isolated room for one of them or in need of shortage room for a world cruise. I see no reason why Celebrity shouldn't be equally happy to sell you an additional cabin, but certainly you must ask directly.
  6. Thanks a lot. Two days is so much easier than 24 hours.
  7. Happy to hear this. These countries certainly need solidarity.
  8. You can buy on port, AFAIK, in the first two days. You pay prorated if you buy only the second day.
  9. Is, nevertheless, the time frame for the test only 24 hours for Barcelona departures versus the two days at other ports?
  10. How busy do ships really feel? One indicator is to look at the space per passenger ratio. Eg. two ships with 100.000 tons each are different packed depending on having 2000 or 3500 passengers onboard. About bars there is really no general answer. Read the boards and trip reports about the lines/ships that are possible to get an idea about the vibe onboard. Carefully said the two lines you are currently looking at might be more on the packed side.
  11. Ca' Sagredo? First class choice. You can walk to about everywhere. St. Mark's square is less than 15 minutes away. Some museums close by. Venice is very tourists. You will get easily around with English. If you should lose your way in the alleys, weil that is part of the fun.
  12. Thank you, @Bell Boy, still sad.
  13. What is this? Another cost fitting? Is there any kind of live music later than that? Or does the managemant to become a nursery home?
  14. Actually I have used a taxi from the ruins to the port because we missed both train and bus 😆 There was a taxi stand with taxis waiting. If I remember right it was like € 60.
  15. If you consider nice as what I guess you do, I would wear a long sleeved, collared, business or evening typ of shirt. The further upscale and the lower the temperatures the more likely I will add jacket and a tie.
  16. Indeed, there are those sites that are specialized in catching Americans, but tipping is generaly neither required nor expected.
  17. You make it sound like Cunard makes a deliberate move to be nice to some weird person. It is not, it is the law/ are the rules resp requirements of a country visited. Cunard, you, me, everybody needs to follow. And you are right, we might see more "of these kind of things", i.e. when ever a cruise touches various countries, cruiselines need to manage all kind of potentially different legislation.
  18. Regarding your six years old: Wonderful and great thatyou offer him this opportunity. I would recommend just to take him and opposite him to all the great surroundings. Just try to explain the importance to him in an age appropriate eay and allow him to experience the sights in his way, eg rund around St. Peter's square or climb ruins where allowed and if and what he enjoy.
  19. Gerade erst gelesen: Gute Besserung!
  20. Unfortunately I experienced exactly this behaviour and attitude already before covid. On all jind of manangement positions there appear to be people with no idea about Cunard as Cunard.
  21. The cathedrale will open at 1 pm after the morning masses for visits. The same applies for the papal palace. On normal weekedays both are open in the morning, too.
  22. In this case, definitely Capri. Sorrento is just a lovely, relaxed village with beautiful scenery. Capri offers beautiful scenery, too, of course, yet in a much wider variety. You can do a boat tour to the blue grotto or a tour up the Monte Solaro. Visit the ruins of the Villa Jovis of Roman emperor Tiberius and the Villa San Michele of Axel Munthe.
