  1. The article says that tea time is on hiatus. I thought it was still operating on cruises longer than 5 days. Am I wrong?
  2. I'm barely 4'11"! We have the deluxe OV....2 bathrooms. The first one is the traditional shower...the second one has the tub/shower combo. If there's something to hang on to, I'd love to relax in the tub. If not...it's the shower for me........
  3. I didn't accept the upgrade offer because of "the tub".
  4. @RaisingJoyCould you please elaborate on the spa. Was it crowded? Were you able to use all the facilities? I'm praying for an "old folks" cruise in Sept....but may want the spa as a retreat "just in case".
  5. Your point is that you enjoy making people feel guilty. What's gonna happen is gonna happen...and OP sitting vigil won't affect "what happens" that week.
  6. @Eli_6I had an incident with a bus driver when my son was in 1st grade. He pulled my son by the collar...and although there were no tears....he was very upset. Off went a letter to his superior, and he was disciplined. Make an issue about it...and follow up. That worker should not be allowed to interact with passengers. They have cameras all over the ship...it may be recorded.
  7. Yeah...but, his invoice from the TA showed the credit. So...must be something else
  8. I think OP should let the other 4 family members decide who "the winner" is. With my husband's family....they'd be happy with 15 in a room. Heaven forbid one person was sent "to Siberia". (Not joking about it....our major marital problem. Cultural differences!) With me, I'd consider it "winning the lottery".
  9. As good as any joint on NYC when I was a kid....when all "the pizza men" were old Italian guys who immagrated from italy.
  10. One word....pizza (I'm an old time NYC pizza snob....I know my pizza) I found the buffet limited....nothing compared to NCL. MDR...not impressed, but I'm never impressed with MDR food. The last MSC cruise....I lived on pizza! I found that the people "dressed well". Not dressed-up....just they seemed to have a sense of style
  11. @ProgRockCruiser Just reinforces why I only sail out of NYC (port is a 10-15 minute cab ride away) with a carry-on.
  12. Yes....every penny of it. And quickly. I went to the doctor the day after I got home...and she couldn't believe they charged so much! This was on NCL about 3.5 years ago.
  13. Hmm...once I had a $3500 unexpected medical bill on a cruise because I had an infection due to a shaving nick. You're never too young or healthy.... For the record...I'm 73; DH is 87. Our health insurance for a 7 day cruise is about $85, To those who think "just go to a store and buy clothes".....how do you know where the store is, how to get to the store, the hours the store is open etc. Not very easy to do. We "carry-on"....exclusively.
  14. Love to read happy stories....with service better than expected.
  15. @Eli_6Unhappy children=unhappy mommy. They exacerbate things. Glad it's going better today!
  16. Carnival offered me an upgrade from OV to OS...at what I consider a good price. The OS has a combo shower/tub/jacuzzi. My question is this: is that tub easy to get in/out of? I'm short...and like other short people...we find the tubs on NCL very scary! Scary enuf not to book a tub/shower combo cabin. Have any "vertically challenged" people had an OS....and was the tub an issue? I'm happy with the OV cabin (really don't need a balcony going to Canada)....and don't see a reason to change....but the price is right and I'm not one to pass on a bargain . So...fellow vertically challenged cruisemates....any opinions or experiences will be appreciated!
  17. You're the one who insulted me...and everyone else who knows the value of a dollar!
  18. I'm 4'11"....my trick is "orchestra....side section....seat on the aisle".
  19. Oh...don't worry. Wear your shorts...it won't affect the taste of the food.
  20. You're just one of those people who "doesn't work or play well with others". You're missing a lot. Me...the only people I avoid are the snobs who really have nothing to be snobbish about.
  21. I took 3 post pandemic cruises (NCL) from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The first 2 were to the Bahamas...and embarkation was a breeze. The last one, to Bermuda, was a nightmare. I think it had more to do with the destination than the terminal. @jpurdyDid you see any of the shows? Is the theatre a real theatre with permanent seating....or setting up chairs for that specific function?
  22. Some of us can afford those luxury suites, but think it's a complete waste of money.
  23. There's a crosstown bus on 49th or 50th Street that takes you right to the port. It's a free transfer from the subway.
