  1. Try Applejack's at 55th & B'way. They have great food and good prices. It's not fancy...very popular with the entertainment industry. It's close to your hotel...about a 10 minute walk. PS...if you like fish, get the seafood platter. It's salmon, shrimp and "something else"....comes with veggies/rice....soup or salad and dessert. If you go, ask for Ever. He should be "on duty" now. The meal is about $23.
  2. "Make"....lol Ask politely has a chance!
  3. @Saint GregI have to agree about "Nope". There are very few movies that I dislike; "Nope" was one of them. I'll be on the Magic 9/10. Please report back about the quality of the production shows. And, if you go to the buffet (lunch & dinner)....if there's a big variety. As I recall...I wasn't thrilled with Carnival's food.
  4. Once upon a time we had a cabin that "made noise". It didn't bother me...but did bother DH. They moved us. If you complain to desk services about "a noise" (or anything else insignificant) they might move you too. But give your cabin a try....you may actually like it.
  5. @blueslily On "other ships" when the lifeboat was directly in front of the cabin...you couldn't go out on the balcony. According to the "deckplans" website, the the lifeboats are on Deck 7. I definitely was able to use the balcony....so I'm thinking it was just the top of the lifeboat that blocked the view. I haven't read recent reviews (I tend to focus on my next booked cruise...which is in 2 weeks on CCL) but I take negativity with a grain of salt. The only thing that would upset me is if the pizza went downhill!
  6. Yes...my cabin is "obstructed" view....but, for us, extra balcony is worth the lesser view. (I really can't remember how much the lifeboat blocked the view. Obviously if we booked the same cabin the next day....it wasn't an issue at all.) Anyway....yours doesn't have that problem. If you like stretching out...angled balcony is the way to go. Whatever you decide...enjoy your trip.
  7. I just answered. 2019 was a lifetime ago....but, I remember no issues at all...came home that day and booked the same cabin for the "next year". Ours is/was 8192. (Loved the entire ship...not just the cabin.) If anything, a wall gives you privacy...."protects" you from noisy neighbors.
  8. I take an angled balcony whenever I can. I have one bookebd for the Meraviglia in April....same cabin we had in 2019. We loved it so much....came home and booked the same cabin for the next year (2020). Who knew we'd have to wait 3 years.........and I keep checking to make sure I'm not moved (they did this once). @blueslilyThe cabin I'm talking about is 8192....it should be directly under yours. As I said...we loved it. Ours was considered an obstructed view...I don't remember any issues caused by an obstruction or a wall. Having the extra room out there was fantastic!
  9. Nah....just about all people who don't live in Manhattan don't know how to walk like a New Yorker. It's a "cars vs feet" thing.
  10. And when walking around, look ahead.....not up at all the pretty buildings and neon signs. Don't be "a doorstop" when walking. Us natives will crash into you! You'll think we're rude. We're not...we just need to get where we're going. Remember....NYers walk, and we walk fast.
  11. Anyone know if they have this on The Magic?
  12. Glad to hear that. It's not a "deal breaker" (I can always get tea and cake elsewhere) but DH and I did enjoy it. We really used to enjoy it in the old days, when nobody knew about it, and it was served in lounge.
  13. On a similar topic....OBC and casino. Forenote....I play the slots alot. Nothing will go unused, but I just want to know the rules. I go to the casino....I charge $100 to my cabin. It's on the card. Let's say I play $50 worth (hopefully some winnings)....and my card now shows a balance of $75. Can I cash that out? Or only the winnings? Or do I have to go thru the entire $100 to cash out "whatever the balance is" on my card?
  14. Hmmm....I'll look into it. Thanks........
  15. Surgical masks protect the patients from anything coming OUT of the surgeon....spit, sweat, germs. They don't protect "inbound". Have you ever seen a patient wearing a mask on the operating table? Would you want your surgeon accidentally drooling into your chest cavity during surgery?
  16. A man of my own heart! I've gotten some of my best deals by patiently waiting.........
  17. And the only reason I can think of that you can't go on your cruise is that you test positive. And if you are positive, then you shouldn't be on the ship!
  18. Not to sound stupid....but how are they more upscale? Different population? Do they keep "non Havana" clientele out?
  19. When people refer to anything upscale or formal about Carnival....I hear the words "pretend pretentious" in my head.
  20. Signed, sealed and delivered! Now I just need to pass those tests........
  21. Yes! I'm gonna give it a try.........
  22. Does each passenger need verifly if using? I get a printed copy of my covid test results and I always carry my immunization card. Is there any benefit to verifly other than saving some "check-in" time? Suppose you have verifly...and don't print out your documents? What happens if your phone isn't working?
  23. I just gotta smile at this entire thread..... Wasn't it just 2 or so years ago that people said they would be willing to cruise "under any condition" as long as the ship was sailing........
