  1. For those of you complaining about the "same old ports", where exactly do you expect Carnival to go from Galveston? The ships can only go so fast, and there are only so many ports they can visit in that time.
  2. Kids don't know that certain foods are "kid" foods or "adult" foods unless they get cues from other people. My kids ate fish, broccoli, peas, whatever we ate, and they never knew they weren't supposed to like it. They ate off the adult menu every night in the MDR. I remember one cruise we sat next to a set of parents who asked the servers to bring thair daughter a plate of buttered noodles every night, and that was all she ate for the entire 8 days. My kids were astonished that parents would actually do that, and actually expressed some concern about her nutritional health.
  3. Why do you even need the sticker? The information that the S&S card is tied to a cheers package is stored in the computer.
  4. More like the entire month of March. It depends on the school district/university. They all have their own calendars.

  6. A cruise is actually a great place to introduce new foods to kids. There is a big variety, and if they don't happen to care for it, no big deal. They can get something else.
  7. DH and I are currently om Sunshine, which is scheduled to arrive in Grand Turk tomorrow. Tonight when we returned to our carbon, there was a note next to our door that said that Carnival did not have proof of our vaccination and if we wanted to go ashore in Grand Turk, we needed to visit Guest Services and provide it. This surprised us since we are fully vaccinated and boosted, have taken many Carnival cruises since the Covid restart, and have provided proof of vaccination whenever asked. We went to guest services and showed them our vax cards, and we are cleared now. Long story short, take your vax cards with you on your cruise. You don't know when/if you are going to need them.
  8. No, not everyone chooses it because they have a limit, just like they have a certain number of early and late seatings for fixed time dining. And whether it is crowded early depends on the type of cruise. It has been my experience cruises that skew older have way more people wanting to eat at 5:30. On a recent Journeys cruise, I waited up to an hour when checking in at 5:30. On my current 5 day cruise on the Sunrise which is full of kids and young adults, I walked right in at the same time and the dining room was empty.

  10. Each Platinum person is allowed a certain number of bags per cruise depending on the length. If you want to share your bags with someone in another cabin, just make sure they bring it back to your cabin for the steward to pick up. But no, they check to see if it's only the platinum guest's underwear that is in the bag! 😃
  11. I am platinum and am on the Sunrise right now. We got on board around 10:30. We walked past the fire doors to drop off our things. No one had an issue with it. It said right on our boarding passes that our rooms would not be ready until 1:30, so we weren't expecting anything earlier.
  12. My kids ate the "adult" food on the ships, just like they did at home. I guess I am lucky they are not picky eaters.
  13. I think this is a pretty big assumption. What's your evidence? From everything I have seen, in many countries acruise ship job is highly coveted and pays much better than any job most people could get at home.
  14. My guess is that a server wrote a folio number down wrong when taking someone else's order. Don't stress about it.
  15. Because the cruise line negotiates a lower rate with them. I have had several tour operators tell me this. For example: Let's say you book a tour with a local guide who charges you $50. Carnival has the same tour an official cruise line-sponsored excursion, but they will only pay the tour operator $35. They then turn around and charge the passenger $60. If you book the tour directly with the tour operator, you save $10 and the tour operator makes an additional $15 .
  16. To me, this is a matter of common courtesy at any restaurant. If DH and I go out to eat on land, and we know there are people waiting for a table, we don't linger. That's true weather we are at a very fancy restaurant or at a food court.
  17. This is a cruise line where people bring cans of pop and giant refillable drink containers into the MDR on elegant night. I don't think anyone is paying attention to a water goblet with wine in it. 🙂
  18. Do you mean Your Time Dining? You check in on the app when you are read to eat. There's no advance reservations.
  19. Four dollars more than a regular drink, if I am not mistaken.
  20. I'm not so fancy - I have drunk many a glass of wine out of a Carnival water goblet! 😁
