  1. Exactly. When I become the elderly parent that everyone worries about, that's when I'll go! 🤣
  2. Carnival's market skews younger than those other lines, and although I was recently on a journeys cruise that had a pretty high median age, I doubt there would be demand for a Carnival Cruise for that length of time. For example, if I am an early retiree. Even though in theory I have the time to take a 3-month cruise, I have elderly parents and young adult children that I would not want to be halfway around the world from them for that long.
  3. Yeah, I guess I meant the computer where they swipe your S&S card.
  4. They don't appear to enforce it. I have seen people carry 3-4 bags onboard for a 4 day cruise. Of course, you are the one who is going to have to figure out where to store everything in your cabin. Personally, I only do one backpack and one carry-on sized piece of luggage, even on my last 14-day cruise. And I brought 5 dresses with me.
  5. Lol. I see that as far back as 2013 people were griping about cutbacks. Some people aren't happy unless they are miserable.
  6. And that same Oceanview cabin would cost $3700 now if Carnival prices kept up with inflation. There is no way Carnival is able to keep up the 1992 level of service in 2023 while still charging essentially the same price. But the market has spoken. Apparently people are willing to have less in order to get a lower price. Just like people would rather get a cheaper airfare than to get dinner on a 2-hour flight.
  7. Do they even have a cash register at the pizza place? How do they charge you? Do they use the paper tickets?
  8. As a retired CFO, I can assure you that no corporation charges tax on anything it doesn't have to. It increases the cost to the customer and the company does not get any of that money. In fact it actually costs the company money because they have to pay people to calculate it, track it, collect it, and send it to the government.
  9. If I were a pothead living in Long Beach, I would definitely be checking out the trash cans that are right before you get to the dogs. 😆
  10. I love the Indian Vegetarian! If you don't mind things being a little spicy, you should give it a try. And have you ever done a wine tour in Ensenada? It was one of my favorite excursions ever.
  11. What's disgusting-looking about it? Take the egg off the top and I would eat it right now!
  12. I have never seen a server use one of those on a table without a tablecloth, so...
  13. Yep. The last time we cruised out of Long Beach, the Coast Guard had a surprise inspection on the ship that morning, and it delayed boarding by more than an hour.
  14. They have had magicians on several of the cruises I have taken post-pandemic. They roam the MDR, the specialty restaurants and the Chef's Table performing card tricks and such. And you can always get a paper menu on request. On occasion I have even been offered one unprompted, but I had already pulled up the menu on my phone.
  15. They still have afternoon tea. We went to one a few weeks ago.
  16. How exactly are tips distributed? Does Carnival keep any of it? Which team members get them? Do team members have to turn in cash tips? I would love to settle this stupid argument once and for all.
  17. Then get a second sandwich, FFS. I would not have been able to eat the entire first sandwich, and that would have been wasted food.
  18. I guess I would focus on getting a security system that keeps people out of my house in the first place rather than rely on a system I would have to constantly monitor so that I could yell at intruders. 😃
  19. Cruise 2. I love San Juan and St. Maarten is possibly my favorite island in the Caribbean. Plus IMO it's always fun to go to new ports.
  20. The official limit to be away from your chair is 40 minutes. If you see one unoccupied for longer than that, don't be shy about folding up the towels and placing them and anything else in the chair/clam off to the side. People have done that to me. I deserved it (I tried to claim a clamshell and sneak off to breakfast), and I just took my things when I got back and went somewhere else. If someone tries to make an issue of it, just say that the chair was empty when you got there, and you have no idea how their stuff got moved.
