  1. I remember when I first got travel Insurance. I was so proud of myself. I figured I was finally being a responsible adult. I just knew that know I was secure with travel insurance, all was right with the world. If something (anything) happened, all I had to do was call them up and BAM, it's fully paid for or the issue is resolved,,, back to my vacation. Fortunately, I never had to file a claim to learn that I was mistaken. I found the insurance board here on CC and began to learn a ton of great information. 2. AND, coverage begins at midnight the day of the cruise and ends at midnight the day the cruise ship returns to port. Many of us travel a few days pre-cruise and return home a few days post cruise, leaving many with no coverage.
  3. Just a side note. I have heard good things about geoblue. In fact, Steve does work with geoblue at tripinsurancestore. However, the poster who asked the question is from Seattle. GeoBlue cannot be sold to residents of Washington state.
  4. tripinsurancestore.com They have 9 companies they work with to help find a policy that covers what you are most concerned about.
  5. No, any cruise lines insurance thru AON has a lot to be desired. There are a couple of benefits to the cruise line insurance, but more downsides in my opinion. Yes 99.9% have to wait. There is a backlog of claims for every travel insurance company, not only AON. And if you read reviews, 99% of them will be negative. Why is that? Happy customers don't write reviews. Why are 99% of the reviews unhappy? 99% of them didn't file for a "Covered" claim. I'm willing to bet that's what happened here. I'm not saying there wasn't a medical event. I'm betting, either the claim wasn't filed properly, or that what was claimed was not a covered event.
  6. If you go online to your cruise booking, there should be "under excursions" an opportunity to book a transfer from the airport to the cruise port. We're going to fly in early, spend a few days in Venice, then we'll take a water taxi back to the airport and catch the shuttle.
  7. Norwegian Cancels Transatlantic Crossing Two Years Early (cruisehive.com) First time sailing NCL. We are currently booked on the Breakaway on a 10 night med cruise in late 2025. Not familiar with how NCL does things when they send a ship into drydock. Would it be your assumption that after the drydock, all sailings return to normal? or, most likely, something else is going on and current itineraries and ships could be moved? Thanks. Then again, it is over 800 days away. Anything could happen from another pandemic, global recession, WW3, to just keep on trucken
  8. Every family has one of these family members. a "certified" photocopy is acceptable. A copy of a half-eaten, thousand folds, crumpled up and flattened, copy from your home copier isn't going to work. Plan on this proud family member not going.
  9. See the 3 dots in the top right corner of your post? Click on those 3 dots and a drop down menu will allow you to “report” the post. There you can ask the mods to edit the title.
  10. Does FLL PD have any jurisdiction for a crime on a cruise ship in international waters? Doesn't the FBI have jurisdiction?
  11. I would take a wild guess that, like me, the person you are asking the question of self-insures the cost of the cruise and only declares a minimum "Trip Cost" per person to ensure the medical coverage. If you don't need waiver of pre-existing conditions or CFAR, there is no legal requirement that you insure the total cost of the trip. You can choose to share the risk. Some policies don't even require that you cover the entire trip to waive pre-existing conditions. I purchase a $100K Primary and $250K evac for $40 per person. I risk the $5K cost of the trip if I should have to cancel. Losing the $5K won't financially ruin me. The medical? potential devastation.
  12. we always get a day room at a hotel near the airport. Allows you to store luggage, use the pool, lay out in the sun, catch a nap, shower before the flight,,,, whatever you want.
  13. I can't and won't disagree with you on that point. However, with the loss of print journalism, the loss of reputable network journalism, and the increase in internet journalism came the need to get income to feed your family some other way than a W2 or 1099 from reputable newspapers or tabloids. About the only way to make money nowadays as a journalist is by the number of clicks you receive on an article that you have written. Unfortunately, that method has brought us where we are today. It's very hard to determine who or what is a reputable source for information. Even if you consider your source reputable, you're still not getting the whole story. They all slant to their internal biases. There are very few that I trust and even then, I question.
  14. Warning: Do not book excursions just because you *MAY* want to go on them to hold the price because you won't see money Never even crossed my mind that people did this. Says more about them than it does about the possible ramifications when it comes time to cancel. Maybe Karma just helped with the find out section.
  15. THANK YOU!! Those prices for checked luggage are eye opening and definitely to be considered when making travel arrangements.
  16. It's a couple of years away but we are ending a cruise in Barcelona. Want to spend a few days exploring Barcelona then hop on over to Rome for a few days before flying back to the States. My circumstances are that there will be at least 4 (maybe only 3 if I'm lucky) pieces of checked luggage along with backpacks for 2 adults. (Please don't fight the amount of luggage, it's a losing battle and just the price I have to pay.) So, I know that they are low cost but can anyone estimate the added fees that I could expect per person? My other option is to fly Business on Iberia (which would be my choice) but it also has the downfall of being a 5 hour travel day with a short layover in Madrid.
  17. You gotta check but most all of them now treat Covid as any other medical condition. The last 2 policies I purchased came with a special certificate indicating that Covid was covered and treated as any other medical condition. Its up to you to make sure though when you purchase. My policy is though TravelSafe Classic which I purchased from TripInsuranceStore.com
  18. Maximizing profits. That's why they're in business. They will continue to raise the price until they reach a price point that people won't pay, then drop it $50 and they'll sell out again. Carnival's not the dummies, passengers paying $699 or $999 are.
  19. Here's a good explanation How Travel Insurance Pre-Existing Medical Condition Coverage Works « Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com)
  20. Make sure you write and submit your good review. I'm guilty of it myself. I'll write a bad review in a heartbeat. But when things go as well as expected, I don't. Bad on me.
  21. Will be flying into Marco Polo a few days pre-cruise and spending a few days in Venice. Our flights are not thru NCL. Can we purchase transfers from Marco Polo to Trieste from NCL? Or are these transfers limited to passengers who purchased their air travel thru NCL? With luggage and everything else, I'm thinking it would be simpler to go back to the airport and board the bus at Marco Polo that try to sling luggage on a train to Trieste.
  22. Travel Insurance is not an easy thing to understand. I recommend that you read thru and understand the policy to the best of your ability. There are a lot of nuances when it comes to travel insurance and 1 misunderstanding or 1 misstep and your claim is denied. To get you started on the misunderstandings; a) if you find yourself needing medical attention, you will be required to pay the bill. Then you file for reimbursement. So keep copies of EVERYTHING. b) the medical insurance from Viking is probably "Secondary". What does that mean? It means that when you get back home, you have to file for reimbursement from your Primary health insurer. Even if you know for a fact that they will deny everything, you must file and wait for the denial letter. Then, you can file with the Viking insurance carrier but include the copy of the denial letter from your primary. Best Practice? Carry with you your policy number and the phone number of the insurance carrier if you find yourself in an emergent medical situation and follow their advice.
  23. Sorry for the delay in response. $100K medical and $250K in evac is sufficient in my opinion.
  24. I believe in Steves integrity, however, you also had me questioning. Therefore, I broke out the policy. Waiver of the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion a) Your payment for this policy and enrollment form are received within 21 days of the date Your initial Payment or Deposit for Your Trip is received; and b) You are not disabled from travel at the time Your payment is paid. That's it. No mention anywhere nor anytime in the entire 28 page document does it say or imply that the entire non-refundable cost of the trip must be covered to include waiver of the Pre-Existing condition clause.
