  1. Damn, we miss you guys, too! Tell John that you guys are meeting us in South Africa next January! Z and TB
  2. Good Morning! Today is the first of two consecutive sea days. Since I’m a morning person, it is still dark outside. I love walking around the ship when it is empty and I have it all to myself. There are not too many adjectives to describe its elegance. Although, we did wait a little to board yesterday, the process was well organized and went smoothly. That glass of champagne we got as soon as we boarded was so good and gave us the feeling of familiarity and comfort. Yesterday was spent making new friends and catching up with old ones. It was a beautiful day with a great breeze. TB was mobbed several times by her fan club. Since I posted a pic of her on Sunday, she is recognized pretty often, which tells you that Cruise Critic is pretty popular with Regent cruisers. We went to the Meridian Lounge for pre-dinner cocktails and ran into Terri and Ray from Arizona. We knew they were onboard but could not find them until dinner. We had a late dinner last night which was perfect. The Boss had risotto and lobster and I had veal and a lobster tail. The food, service, and wine were all excellent. Today, we are meeting several folks from our cruise critic family at the pool bar. Z and TB
  3. Thanks! I do, too! We will make sure you have plenty of vino. Z and TB
  4. I can’t believe that we will miss Jackie and Dennis since they board when we get off. Real shame. Z and TB
  5. We got to terminal J at 1045 and were quickly checked then told to wait 30 minutes to board. We were onboard at 1145 and went straight to La Veranda (chow hall) for lunch where we had a very tender prime rib and shrimp. We are currently waiting for the cabins to be released so we can unpack although I already snuck into our cabin to change clothes. We walked around the ship and saw the Faberge egg (it’s so little!) and then walked into the stunning Compass Rose. This is an incredibly beautiful ship that has this Newyorican star struck. TB is being recognized everywhere. Z and TB
  6. We made it! Although it took some time to board, the process went smoothly. Let the fun begin! Z and TB
  7. Not a problem. I welcome folks to collaborate on this thread. Glad you beat the weather. Z and TB
  8. We absolutely love living here. Unfortunately, I am not a Mets fan. We are a Yankees family. We chose to live here because we loved the amenities offered in our over fifty five community as well as being centrally located between Miami and Orlando. Z and TB
  9. I hope you make it in time tomorrow for check-in. We will save you a seat at the pool bar. Where are you flying from? Z and TB
  10. Having been born in Manhattan and lived in the lower east side, I would have loved to stay in NYC for a while to sightsee and visit family. But, we have two cats at home that cost an arm and a leg to baby sit. Regardless, I plan to take The Boss to Katz Deli (as if we need more food). Z and TB
  11. Good Morning and welcome to our latest cruise thread! We are Roberto (Z or Zqueeze) and Pamela (TB or The Boss): We are from Port St Lucie, Florida. We and are retired and loving la dolce vita of being bums and racing golf carts. We are sailing on Monday aboard the beautiful Grandeur for sixteen days from Miami through the southern and eastern Caribbean and debarking in New York City. In between we will squeeze in visit with friends in San Juan and in the Holy City (Charleston) where we will also roam around the hallowed halls of my Alma Mater. Please see our itinerary below and map. We were originally scheduled to cruise on a very similar itinerary onboard the Mariner in May. Unfortunately, this cruise was cancelled by Regent and we gratefully switched to this itinerary. We are in a lovely Cat F1 cabin after getting a two category upgrade offer. We love this category due to the orientation of the bed and large bathroom. Packing is completed and, as always, I have one beautifully packed suitcase, while The Boss has her essentials: We are scheduled to be picked up by private vehicle at 0900 on Monday morning for the two hour plus drive to Miami Cruise Port. Needless to say, I will be my normal impatient self as anxious as a toddler until I get onboard and chill. We are more than happy to share this thread with anyone to include my heckling friends. Feel free to add to my corny commentary if you are also on this cruise. This includes our good friends, TNR, who are also onboard. Also, say hello if you see us. I am usually hanging at the pool bar in the afternoons supervising TB’s workouts. Look for the chubby guy wearing a Yankees or Citadel baseball cap. By the way, I may be chubby, but I identify as skinny. I’m trans-slender. Z and TB
  12. Bill: do the 5 Jan 25 Cape Town to Rio cruise and you can still do the safari as well as samba in Rio with us! Z and TB
  13. Gilly: thanks for the detailed update on your flight. You gave me my fix for the day. We can now focus on enjoying your latest adventure as we check-in daily. Have a great cruise! Z andTB
  14. Gilly: I am an avid airplane fanatic. Can you please tell us about your flights to include service? Fly safe and thanks in advance. Z and TB
  15. Gilly: safe travels and have a wonderful cruise. So glad to see you start this thread. We always enjoy your narrative. Z and TB
  16. OilPainter 2020: see you onboard! Z and TB
  17. I found the following in Facebook and written by David Davison: “We are currently on The Grandeur with a back to back Caribbean cruise We have to say the ship, the crew and most of the food is amazing. We are in suite 800 a penthouse suite across the front underneath the bridge. The view is therefore only straight ahead standing against the rail the view is quite nice but sitting or lying down the only view is a steel bulkhead. It feels like a horse with blinkers. Worse still every night the crew clean the superstructure above the balcony so every morning the chairs table and floor are soaked with puddles on the cushions so the idea of a cup of tea on the balcony when you wake is a no go Our butler quite rightly said we only have to call and they will come in and dry it off but we don’t want crew in our room every morning as we get out of bed As I said we love the ship the crew are amazing we have already 2 future cruises booked but would not have this suite again if they halved the price We hope this helps others when choosing a suite” Hope this helps. Z and TB
  18. I’m usually third seat from the right and wearing a Citadel or Yankees baseball cap. Z and TB
  19. Folks: I want to extend a quick thank you to all who provided names and contact info of tour guides. You are making our planning for next January very easy. We will be in Cape Town for three days prior to a Regent transatlantic cruise and plan to max out our excursions. Z and TB
