  1. we'll follow to see the comparison (never miss a review by Jim); but for us E Class is fine...unless they max fill the cabins and go to a " party all the time" atmosphere. We enjoyed Jim's Ponant review, but was not our style or budget! Glad Jim's reviews widen our horizons!
  2. we sometimes rush to grab and go but not great eating at loungers..esp after the little tables were removed.
  3. Just want to note that a good swim in the indoor or outdoor pools, or a water workout in the Solarium pool can run more than 30 minutes.. esp for a water rat like me.. Folllowed by hot tub & a nice relaxing time on the lounger after drying off. We do get out there early on our "pool days" so that it all can be done before the crowds come to claim their "self reserved loungers" and the loud music starts! I think the number of pool Butlers should be increased & be more than towel people..give more service and have better training as to removing belongings
  4. true maybe... but seeing the facilites befie booking a spa service or buying a pass can be helpful And sometimes they have a raffle for a service..Won it twice!
  5. Thanks...much better list. We get the Classic and Coors lite is for my husb... He can splurge on good scotch after dinner
  6. I.m lucky..my husb does not swim.. and likes to sit and sip, read and do his puzzles.. We take turn going for food and I am in the water other times
  7. That's overkill! And poor judgment esp when you were actually using the solarium pool and facilities. Lunch there is usually quick. . They should not have gone into your bag & confiscated your card. Totally not the same as folks who come out early, leave a book on a lounge, clip towels.. and disappear for long periods
  8. great pics. We have not tried LeV and food seems a bit too "fancy" for us. Hope you have a great Cruise!
  9. cant say for ASCENT but did have a deck 7 middle SV on EDGE early on ...Heard bass over bathroom and closet hallway til around 11 pm maybe music and shows have changed..we'd prefer deck 8.. booked for that on APEX
  10. plus activities, loud music loop, djs.. It's the party place on E class By comparison at Sandals AIC..they have an active pool area.. dj . fun.. games.. AND a quiet pool.. works great!
  11. probably cheaper to buy himself a nice coffee 1x a day. Coffee on X not great to begin with..very bitter! I switch to Tea.
  12. they verify you until they know you.. the son and friend cannot attend unless one of them is eligible!
  13. Our understanding is for NY residents ( and a few other states) Cruiseline Ins can't be purchased with ur cruise booking but they have a co you can call. Once that law/rule came into play we just go thru Travel Insured which supplies an approved policy.... easily ordered by tel. We get max med, , evac to US hosp, repatriation of remains. Can't be perfect but try our best..We will bring ALL our credit cards along as well I think Cruise Critic has an Ins thread..maybe there are more ideas there
  14. For E class, forgot to mention FINE CUT among specialties we thought were way better than Luminae. Roof Top was fun with great food & large portions , good service, but more like a good local steakhouse..not quite Ruth Chris!
  15. Guess we had a very off week ...our shrimp was tiny and slimy.. sauce was really ketchup.. bread service doled out ( stingy) when they had bread...The dining room was dark tables close together and loud.. Very prententios but faux!! Only our sommelier was up to the job.. Each to their own.. Best meals were in BLU, EDEN and RAW ON 5
  16. People in our local area just had to pay $ 50,000 to a hosp in Jamaica after dad had a stroke first day of his vacay.. Had to also hire an EMT to accompany him home and pvt flt... He is finally getting home. Sees no trvl med/ evac ins scary!
  17. All good points.. U.S Medicare & our pvt secondary health ins do not cover treatment out of the US. And we bring Several credit cards with "room!" Essential!!!!
  18. interesting.. we each got 2 on our 7 day ASCENT cruise last Jan. They are very handy and well made
  19. we bring a few btls of water, a few small btls of diet coke and tom juice. We drive to Port Ev and just put it in a small beach bev roll on
  20. We enjoy the IV rooms...There's more space inside where needed, more privacy, no noise fron neighbors or balc smoke.. No outdoor space but that's the trade off to get AQ Class and Blu...Have had great attendants in that class cabin.. good to have choices!
  21. Revenue is not our responsibility. We do not cruise for the bars..or parties.. We love the sea, ocean life, sky and spa! There have always been places for diff enjoyments!
  22. We ALWAYS book with the Cruise line...unless we can easily walk back to the ship.. We have had a few close calls: bus died in the jungle.. traffic jams and congestion, lack of return ride etc , X sends a new bus..etc. and the ship waits for you! Friends had med issue and X gave full support . Worth the higher price and they usually book the better tour companies . In foreign ports they send a ship's rep who speaks local language (Exception is Jamaica.. nothing there is good!) If you like a place you can go back and explore on your own..but excursions are a day or half day snapshot..just a fun overview!
