  1. never happened before... but we had benydryl and topical.. the reaction lasted several weeks for poor dh... related to his shellfish allergy. we pick safer areas for snorkel since then.. many nice "fishy" spots away from coral. strongest currents we did ok with were Nassau..ocean, Costa Maya and near divers wall in Gr Cayman.. we are older now so just take it easier
  2. Glad u enjoyed the Buck Island Snorkel. We def did not ! It was nothing at all like the snorkel trail at Trunk Bay..our favorite! We are experienced but not advanced. Long unscenic bus ride from port town to where snokel trip leaves. ..The actual snorkel trail was narrow, the water and currents were way rough. I got caught up in coral..husb rescued me but got cut.. had an allergic reaction..what a mess! The Town itself where we left from on the boat was old and decrepit..not what we imagined, Luckily we found clean bathrooms, then back into the bus..long ride to port.. St Croix not what we had hoped for! That aside..loving this great review..thank you
  3. or record other people without their consent!
  4. My thoughts exactly. X is not a beer and pretzels cruuse!
  5. Nice detailed summary.. thanks for posting! Some of our fav ports..
  6. Agree,... X may be have been a bad choice. No reason teens can't wear khakis and a nice polo for dinner in mdr etc, If they want shorts, tees and sandals they can go to the buffet....
  7. most rockers are in Eden these days inf balc. has barely room to turn 2 chairs inward with small table..It makes a nice expanded seating area fir a long narrow cabin! That,'s how we'll set it up.on Ascent...but we have no idea whether we will have bed by bath or by balc ( that's tight)
  8. I agree . .at many resorts pool monitors or attendants manage okay without ugly chair collars. These will become unwanted trash
  9. Crass..just mark the time on a tag and remove stuff after time is up
  10. I think it'd be a nice cabin style for a Trans atl cruise We prefer a normal balc but we used that area as an extended sitting area, worked out quite well.. We booked one in AQ for Ascent in the carib..perks are BLU and thermal suites
  11. agree based on a cruise on Oasis to try out that class ship. Much better fit for us on EDGE and BEYOND...Total experience was better on X... food and service better on X..shows and music better..just overall classier. No tix needed or lines for shows or events! Oasis catered much more to family, kid and teen activities.. with.parades carousels, zip line, flo rider etc altho X kids program seems quite good...stem and ocean based!
  12. awesome.. These look bigger and firmer than the mini squishy ones served on BEYOND in Luminae..with a ketchup watery sauce! hope they tasted great!
  13. hope you made it home... and had time for Gen Z to rest up before school I am intrigued by the tracker bracelet..details? Our g-son is into sharks, whales etc. Whale exhibit at NYC Museum of Nat History is on his "short list" Maybe NYC would be a fun weekend for Gen Z??
  14. Great Review.... Charla, I think you have been displaced as Cruise Critic's Favorite cruiser! What a star she is...yet hopefully kind and modest like her mom!
  15. sad to hear..we have ordered multiple arrangements over many yrs of cruising..only on bad bunch...quickly removed and replaced!
  16. No luck for our ASCENT cruise out of Port Ev.. and our pre cruise hotel is not close to Publix or any floral shop. i think it might be risky ordering a delivery for sailaway day.. wonder why no flowers to order there are plenty on board?????
  17. Wow.. we thought there would be more support for fellow cruisers rather than defense of X which lately causes alot of " agita". On EDGE before Covid, Fine Cut specialty changed the time of our longstanding pre-paid res to 8:30 from 6 pm.. No notice was sent. We found out the day before when we went to confirm. We were told it would be better for us,.NOT REALLY! They apparently moved us to accomodate a suite guest..The officious rude maitre d at first refused to refund our acct when we cancelled implying we were at fault! So we just stood there until he reluctantly agreed...He was unsuited to the job! That was happening quite a bit on that cruise..at Fine Cut and EDEN, where they split family groups into two diff time slots etc,, Seems always said it was for the benefit of the cruisers..NOT! Hopefully...things are improving....
  18. good idea.. we have been to many white night pool deck parties on X. but you never know??
  19. much nicer than the Sky suite tub.. a better location and layput! tjanks for the post!
  20. side note..the tub in a BEYOND sky suite is oversized but unfortunately failrly awkward to use as a tub..or even a shower... needs more grab bars!
  21. We always book some type of balc,,..usually AQ Class, but have also experienced a Sunset Veranda ( EDGE) and Infinte Veranda ( EDGE), Each one has plusses and minusses. Our last cruise was in a Sky Suite ( BEYOND) to use up accumulated fcc,....It was fun, but for us the value of suite life is not worth another try. Main perks for us were having a larger state room and priority embark and debark,, We did not enjoy the Lumunae menu or the dining room itself, and were happy to dine in BLU one night, The pvt Retreat areas were nice but not that special and the pool area with a very small dunk pool was crowded on sea days. We enjoyed the extra attention from our Butler but at times it was a bit over the top...Some are devoted to suite life but not everyone! In sum..we are happy going back to AQ Class w inf balc cabin and BLU for Ascent. You should not feel deprived being in a balc cabin,,,just enjoy the cruise!
