  1. Remember the Old Days on the QE2 when you filled out a computer form/sheet with the black pencil or pen. Quite extensive. Covered many facets. Then at the end of the cruise on the last day, they would gather them and would pick one with a prize I forgot what they use to give. You had to give it in before 3PM. It was done on board. Did have surveys at the beginning sailing with QM2 but it died off and can't remember the last time. I wouldn't mine airing our thoughts and comments to help them be aware of what we expect and better for the passengers to come.
  2. Hello Kathy, Long way from Home.. Beautiful day on the East Coast. Will be following you each day...looking forward. Got another person on coming trip in March from Cape May... Enjoy Your Voyage !
  3. The service charge for Queens and Princess Grill Suites will be $18 per person per day, and Britannia Staterooms will be $16 per person per day. per Cunard Site.
  4. Yes we are both Diamond World Club members. Once you board, you will find a envelope with the certificate that you present to the M'd in the restaurant you selection on your cabin/suite deck.
  5. We got the same email with that phrase enclosed for our March 2025 sailing. Our Cunard email contained my name and DW's name and CWC number, making both available under Diamond for this perk. Only available for those with their names contained on the email.
  6. When we sail we leave the Daily Auto Gratuities on our Account. And believe we have never remove them since we believe those working hard deserve to be recognized. "Are they discretionary?" Our Exceptional (Above & Beyond) Service are shared with the appropriate Staff and the end of the Sailing. Those we recognize are the Cabin/Suite Staff and the Dining Room Staff. Waiters/Asst. Waiters that fulfill our special needs beyond normal requests. If we have certain requests that are asked of the M'd, we will use certain discretion. Our Wine Steward assigned to our table will be recognized if certain requests are for filled. We know that there is a 15% added on all drink receipts but wish to recognize him as an individual for his services. Room Service gratuities are always given at the time we are serviced after delivered to the Cabin/Suite. Many do appreciate the tip offered. Off Subject........If on an Shore Excursion.....some passengers will show appreciation to the Tour Guide and Driver if they believe they truly enjoyed the Excursion and were properly cared for.
  7. Design a Mega Ship of size.... They are not known for such vessel that size and passenger capacity.
  8. Thank you for all the past comments posted but the final decision is what will make the passenger happy and also comfort. I do agree that some of the shipping lines are in some type of competition with who will have the largest. For the last 49 years, we know the type and style of service and vessel we are comfortable being on. And know there will be one out there no matter how big and gigantic the shipyards will build. @puzzums I would watch HAL.... They have not tested their size of ships yet. We have sailed them in the past till some of the policies changed.
  9. Unfortunately I must beg to differ. I do have a selection of Cruise Cards with photos on. Also we have not had a problem with a copy of a passport to accompany our Driver or Military Base ID as a form of ID. This is why we exchange comments on Cruise Critics with past personal experiences we have had. Thank you for your comments.
  10. We sail on the Queen Mary 2 with the passenger capacity of 2620 and never feel crowded. Granted in some places large groups gather like the Kings Court Buffet and Theater and Pool Side with is expected but can be less at other times. We are not ones attracted to these "MEGA" ships and do agree to remain with those around 2500 passengers. There will be a time we will have to face a change in decision but are assure we will still find a ship to our liking. I have read many reviews and there are those that do agree to the negativity of these Mega size.
  11. Your ID on board will be your Shipboard Card that will be presented to you on boarding. You will use it to get on and off the Ship. You will also use it for purchases on board the ship. It will also be your ID off the ship in Ports of Calls telling all what Ship you are connected with. Some ships have your Photo Image on it. You can also make a copy of your Passport Page to carry with you if you need additional ID.
  12. Have not sailed QV yet, only QM2......
  13. Dear @Ichabod123, First, Welcome to Cunard and sailing as a "Newbie" on the Queen Mary 2 once you book your choice. As mentioned in the previous postings, experiencing our favorite selection "Britannia Club" is always the sailing we look forward too! Some during our past sailings call the experience a "Pre Grill Experience". We have sailed BC many times beside Princess Grill and the main attraction from the onset was the Dining Room arrangements. The same dining room, same table, same waitstaff, though same times for breakfast and lunch, the open time you select for the evening meals. Granted one can attend any of the other dining alternatives ex. Kings Court, Golden Lion, you know your table is always there. We did at the beginning in 2006 sail in the Britannia Class but once changed to BC, we are happy with each of our bookings. Good Luck with which Class you select on Booking. BTW......BC "Britannia Club" are on Deck 12 and Deck 13.
  14. John, Totally agree with you about a tip for the courtesy of his service. He has no product to note on a bill to apply the service charge. Gesture of service should be applied.
  15. Jollyjones, So sorry to hear of your various disappointments with you crossing on the QM2. Queen Mary 2 is our favorite ship to sail after disappointments with HAL in the past that we once enjoyed to sail on till changes took place on that line. We enjoy sailing out of Brooklyn Cruise Terminal since we live in the Boro of Brooklyn. And happy not to have to sail out of Manhattan after we found it to be stressful to travel to in the past. Having sailed with Cunard Line from the QE2 to now the QM2, we would not think of not continuing after decades of Cunard service. We too do not like or think of sailing on these now a days Mega Ships because of the size and number of passengers on board. Even though we don't think that the QM2 is oversized or classed as a Mega Ship, we enjoy how they used the space to design her and all that is offered to us to enjoy. Just enough activities to keep us busy, Out of all the sailings we did on the QE2 & QM2 we too had situations that occurred and we dealt with it in the operations of the ship or the terminal operations. For instance, we were part of the 4th of July Sailing on the QM2 last year and never thought we would experience a embarkation like that. Yours were 4 hours delayed and our 6 hours. And much more chaos you can imagine. We didn't leave till 230 AM in the morning. But we still looked forward to the cruise and enjoyed. See if you wouldn't give Cunard another chance. On another Cunard ship, on a different itinerary and out of another port.
  16. She is suppose to go thru a half life refit in 2025 which should give her more years of her life delighting all and continue sailing.
  17. We were on the September 2022 Canada NE Sailing and weren't happy with the Chicken and Beef dishes served in the Princess Grill. With the Beef I know the M'd noticed the amount of the dish that I consumed and agreed that it wasn't that good. This was at the beginning of the meal so I don't know if others by that time commented. Or did they know what was going to be used for Beef dishes ahead of time and the results passengers were going to comment about. Knowing the to be used at that meal brought on board. With the Chicken dish, DW wasn't happy with the quality. She is not a complaintor but it was noticeable to the point that again the staff brought it up about the quality. So then we saw a difference and again this last July in 2023 we saw one dish that was questioned. So meat products are questionable obtained.
  18. Thank you.... not unusual when one thought leads to another thought on these threads. I was blessed to have been exposed to many restaurants and also a father that was a chef. I was actually suppose to go to the CIA but a different direction was meant for me. Trying to keep it short, we enjoyed many Christmas times at Luchow's with the Tree. Neiderstein's was a hang out we enjoyed. Yes CTK is next door with the last stop of the train. Visiting my mother's aunt in Greenpoint, many times past Domino and smelt the hot sugar and Rheingold Beer the hops. Luger's we are schedule soon to return. Always got the big dish Shalog (whip cream). DW boss from Wall St went to S&W for dinners. That is why I enjoy the food services on the QM2 during a lengthy voyage. Once again, thank you. Mangia!
  19. The passengers are responsible for their own luggage to the point of turning it over to the longshore men in the front of the terminal. There is no help from the ferry terminal to the front of the terminal.
