  1. Those with cabins on the far end of the Deck 12 will be close to Elevator/Staircase B which will gain you access to many of the lower decks and public locations more direct. Examples below... Some locations a bit of distance.... Deck 9 Commodore Lounge Deck 8 Library, Verandah Restaurant Deck 7 Restaurants, Buffet, Gym, Bar, Outside Deck Deck 3 Restaurant, Upper Theater Level, Shops, Bars, Queens Room and Illuminations Theater Deck 2 Lower Theater Level, Casino, Tour Office, Bars, Lower Restaurant Entrance, Connextions and Computer Room
  2. As mentioned in the past, Forward is A Staircase/Elevator and Rear is B Staircase/ Elevator and access to Pavillion Pool and access to the outside deck. The Pavillon Pool can a bit active since passengers are bathing and their is a Bar. Also a visiting band also plays at certain times of the day in the Pavillon bar. But the cabins are quite sound proofed that really bother us were in the cabin. We would like to also mention, we favor the height of the Deck location for the wonderful views when sailing all day and night long.
  3. We have always enjoyed Port Side and select the cabin number personally to that side. On Caribbean sailings, we favor Port since we would have Sun to our cabin in the Mornings going down. Also can enjoy sitting early in the day on the balcony also. Living in Brooklyn, NY we really don't need to view the sailing out of the harbor since we see it all the time. The end of the hallway toward the forward is A Staircase/Elevator if you need to access the lower decks that way. Also the Ship's Bridge can be viewed when open to see the Officers operate the ship when at sea. It is only closed in Port and during bad weather. Interesting location to view. We really don't mind being on Deck 12 since we will be 5 decks above Deck 7 the Promenade Deck. We really never found in any of our cabins anything that annoyed us. Also there is a Partition against the edge of the ship's deck preventing noise from the Sun Deck at the farther end of Deck 12. Cabins 12052 to 12056 on the Port side is near the metal staircase to the Sun Deck Deck 13.
  4. Dear MonJ, Welcome to CC on the Cunard Board. As a Cunarder who steadily books Britannia Club and sometimes PG, we very much enjoy the Club area in Mid Fwd section, Port Side. We were once booked on Deck 13 Fwd on the Port Side. We favor Port Side in general. Our cabins were btw 12032 to 12052. Liked more 12032 since it does not have a overhang like the more back ones have. The overhang is were from the Sundeck.12032 cabin has the new cabins that are additions from the refit of 2016 placed on part of the previous Sport Deck. We did not have any negative feeling with Deck 13 cabin. Very quiet, very forward but quite a distance from the Club Dining Room on the opposite end of the ship and 11 decks down. Quite a walk. Good for walking off meals. But the plus was they were brand new from recently added and looked great. Also these cabins have baths w showers with glass doors when the other cabins have curtains. Cabin 12032 and 12052 did not were not connecting rooms to others. We are currently booked for a March 2025 Carib cruise and looking forward to it in about a year.
  5. We have been very satisfied with our photos and the locations the pictures have been taken at. Our favorite location on our last two sailings was at the Grand Lobby Staircase. We were blessed to have a great photographer that posed us. We have the photos hung in our hallways, living room and bedroom and alway look at it when I pass. We personally really don't have photos taken on each sailing. But had a good feeling and was glad we had them done. Some sailings have photos taken on the ground off the ship after landing and by the gangway before departing for shopping or touring. We really don't partake in these photos
  6. Here in NYC 1138 PM....... Unable to Log On....
  7. Bar Service is not offered in the Queens Room. Champagne is only offered at the Champagne High Tea. Unless you bring your own drink into the Tea Service on your own.
  8. We were once on the QE2 and was late on a ship excursion by 45 min to an hour and the ship waited. Once the last foot was on the gangway, they pulled it in and ship started to move right away. Of course we had two ship staff on each of the two buses.
  9. Walk back on board - 30 to 45 minutes..... Tender back - should safely be back on board 45 minutes to an hour before. Be aware of tender timing.
  10. Have since the first time sailing with Cunard some 45 years ago, had no problem ordering flowers on the phone with Cunard ahead. Always finding the bouquets in the room on arrival on embarkation day looking beautiful and appreciated. Also shore excursions done online once they show and again finding them on the desk on arrival to the cabin on embarkation day.
  11. Have a wonderful dinner at the Simpsons on the Strand. Great Roast Beef. Theater, Lunch in Pub. Tower of London, Big Ben. ST. Paul, etc...
  12. Mr Tablecloth is my DW 1st Stop. A MUST !
  13. First......Congratulations and Welcome to the World of Cruise. Once you experience your First Sailing, we hope you will catch the Cruising Bug and continue to sail and enjoy. You have selected a general forum here but I suggest you go to the Holland America Forum of CC and you will see lots more of important you will learn. Also a location to ask further information about the company and ships. You are also welcome to join the Roll Call for the sailing of your ship. You will find additional first timers like you and also those that may have experience sailing of the same trip and share additional information on the ship, excursions and activities. Sailing for about 54 years we love cruising above all trip. We still love land based trips but there is nothing like sailing. All is available on board. Dining, Activities, Sport, Entertainment, Suning, and lots more. Those accompanying you with experience will help you along. You are mentioning about dress.... The Holland America Website should have a FAQ section that will mention dress.. Relax, research is the most exciting part of the trip to prepared and look forward to July. BTW.....All ship have a Kid's Corner that your daughter will enjoy while you have your own fun.
  14. We personally book Clubs since we have become accustomed to the location, deck and enjoy the dining feature of the category. We have and been upgraded more from that location with the help most likely with our loyalty background too. But the dining feature is a plus with our past experiences we enjoyed on the QE2 as an example with set dining times thru out voyages. We personally are not passengers who like to dine under ANYTIME and keep changing tables, locations, times and staff. Not how we personally dine at home. Also we don't care to sail on ships with multi plus number dining locations. So the now a days cruisers are definitely different from past times. We also like the restaurant assignment to the cabin category.
  15. On our 2022 NE/CANADA sailing on the QM2, Sept-IIes was on our itinerary after departing Quebec.
  16. Enjoy your voyage. IMHO......all the fun and enjoyment is outside the cabin. Be well informed about the ports visiting and tours/excursions.
  17. We always look forward to a upcoming sailing and will we see a notice within a month or two before surprising us like in the past. I know we always ok if we would like to accept an upgrade and we do. We know our loyalty points and decades of sailing with the same line does help.
  18. They maybe waiting to see if they can be sold. Also they may also offer those cabins to those with loyalty points and status as our cruise line does.
  19. I can't believe that I saw in the past another cruise line raising their 15% to 18%. WOW!
  20. We've always saw it open on Caribbean voyages. And enjoyed it's open air dining.
