  1. Wow! we have really gotten off topic.
  2. We did an Alaska cruisetour twice. Our very first cruise was Alaska. Anyway. We stopped in Skagway both times and the one thing I will always remember about Skagway is this sign. No, we didn't try the pizza. 😃
  3. Yes. You have to request each cruise.
  4. Thanks. Not part of X but I think I got the rest covered. 🙂
  5. @Hilly1972 Welcome to cruise critic. If you haven't, I would suggest you post on the Roll Call thread for you ship and sailing date. You will meet others that will be sailing with you and get an idea what others are doing. Take Five is a nice place to visit for some good music and a drink. The drink cart is interesting. If it's warm enough the retreat pool is relaxing and quiet. With this being your first cruise, it may seem overwhelming but take your time to explore the ship and find your own favorite spot. Sometimes port days are best for exploring the ship because most everyone is ashore. Congratulations on celebrating your wife's 50th. First time cruising you want to try and see everything. That can become very hectic and sometimes confusing. My advice would be to keep it simple, relax and have a good time.
  6. @dides Your information being posted on the Sun thread is amazing and well appreciated. I've been trying to find any information on the buildup of the Star and have found nothing. Probably not looking at the right sites. Any clue on where to look? Thanks nasa1974 Marty
  7. We did Alaska twice. Both times late May. Evening temps in the upper 20's to low 30's. Day time temps could reach the 50's to 60's. We even had a snowball fight at the Mt. McKinley Lodge on our second trip. Everyone gave some great information. The one thing I would suggest is do the land portion first. This can be hectic with transportation (to and from lodging) and excursions. Then you get on the ship and kick back and relax. Also, if you decide to go in May make sure you have hat and gloves not just for the evenings on land, but you will need them on the ship as well and dress in layers. It can get very uncomfortable out on deck.at times. Good luck and enjoy.
  8. We did the Alaska land/cruise twice. Our first started in Fairbanks and we slowly traveled south to Whitter. Our second started in Anchorage and proceeded north then a looong train ride to Whitter. The one thing that most people don't realize is that there is only one set of rails that is used for both normal traffic (cruise lines) and freight. Freight has priority. On our first land portion we were 3 hours late getting to Whitter because we had to keep pulling off onto to a side rail to allow the freight traffic to pass us. We felt the lodges were comfortable and clean and required a little walking to get to different areas of the facilities. But the views were outstanding. On our second cruise we even had a snowball fight with friends at Mt. McKinley Lodge.
  9. Definitely some growing pains with this new build. Posts show some absolutely love the ship others not so much. I understand the disappointment with a large portion of the entertainment venues not completed yet. Hopefully things will get better as the inaugural year continues. Maybe they can make some minor tweaks with the Star. I remember people complaining about the new Royal class when it came out.
  10. I thought they served breakfast all day on deck 8.
  11. @CanadianBurger Really enjoying the posts. The menus are interesting. By no means am I a food snob but what has been shown in the MDR and the eatery I would go hungry.😀 I'm not into all the fancy foods that the main eating areas are offering. So, most likely Lido Grill, pizza, kids' menu or eating breakfast on deck 8. I might have to pack a bag of pretzels. 😄
  12. It looks terrible and what a mess. I guess you can say they are trying. Maybe next the real thing.🤷‍♂️
  13. Thanks for sharing. It would be nice if he was around for my October cruise. Wow some of the people are pretty close to the action. With all your videos, pictures and posting I hope you are enjoying your cruise.
  14. @dog You made me look to try and find the post. I believe it is on page 158 and is post #3937. Would you please post the link for the Signature thread. Thanks.
  15. For right now I think the new "Sun Princess" thread is holding its own. Thank you @WonderMan3. Two new threads have been started that has helped; "Sun Princess Staterooms & Categories, started by our Host and "Sun Princess Sanctuary Discussion", started by CanadianBurger. Also, a big thank you to @dides for keeping things rolling. Another shout out to @CanadianBurger and @niftrip for their live threads. Hopefully as other folks start their adventurers on the Sun, we will continue to get updates and reports in this thread. I hope our favorite moderator @Host CJSKIDS can keep the original pinned at the top for a while. This will allow new Princess cruisers to see what went into building the Sun Princess. Let's see what happens and maybe we won't have to unlock the original. There is the "Star Princess" thread we can start adding to as well.
  16. Sounds like fun to watch but not in my price range. Honestly, I'm not into the fancy foods, I only drink beer and Magicians are ok but I'm not paying extra to watch one. But reading the threads it sounds like it will be a hit.
  17. Interesting. I'm sure any new folks have no Idea how to do that. 😂 I don't know how to do that.
  18. Good idea. Maybe rename it. "Sun Princess - original" or something like that so i doesn't confuse the new "Sun Princess" thread. @Host CJSKIDS Would this be possible?
  19. Thanks for still being part of the Sun experience. Have you thought about the Star next year?
  20. Yes, you can still read just not post. However, you would have to find it and it is currently on page 7 and there is no way to bring back up to the first page.
  21. Something to think about. @WonderMan3 Thank you for starting up another "Sun Princess" thread. The posts have been informative. Fortunately, there have been a couple other threads started by others to make for a more enjoyable read. If there is a nice number of people that would like to see the original unlocked, I will request it. If that happens, I'm pretty sure all of these posts will be moved over to the original. @Host CJSKIDS is there any way we can do a poll?
  22. @CanadianBurger Thank you for the video of the Sun. I was able to pick out my cabin in the sphere on deck 15.
  23. When we were on the Sky we loved the retreat pool area. It was quite and no kids.
