Unless packing shorts means a completely different wardrobe from long pants, I would pack a pair or two just in case. As they say better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks, good to know. I have a cruise late April and then a cruise early October. My passport expires the end of October, so I plan on sending in my renewal early May.

I like to walk through the buffet first to see what is being offered then jump in line if there is one. Now it sounds like I have to get in line and guess what is being offered or second guess my choices.

With the Sun being not only a new ship but a new design the pros and cons about the ship isn't surprising. Maybe the length of some of the con's per subject is. What is surprising is the lack of pictures of the ship being posted here. Don't get me wrong I like the pictures that have been posted but to be honest I thought I would see more. Everyone talks about FB. I don't have an FB account. Ytube I get it. I guess I will have to wait and experience it myself in October and then November next year see if any changes were made to the Star.

I was looking at a video of the Star Princess and in the rendering of the Piazza it shows a single set of stairs on deck 7. It is at the 36 second mark in the video.

I travel solo and prefer to eat in the buffet. The MDR has no appeal for me. Too each their own I guess.

My grandfather was a traditional Manhattan drinker. I'm not sure he would have approved of an Amaretto Manhattan. 🙂 Anyway he would always have some chilling in the refrigerator. When we would go visit, he would excuse himself to get up and get his evening drink. I didn't care for the taste, but my wife would say grandpa pour me a small glass. And the two of them would sip their Manhattans together. After my grandfather passed when we would take a cruise my wife would order a Manhattan at least once a cruise in his honor. Now that my wife has passed, I order a Manhattan at least once a cruise to honor my wife and my grandfather. So now the traditional Manhattan has become a tradition.

The deck plans show stairs on the aft end of the piazza. One staircase from deck 9 to deck 8 and one from 8 to 7. Definitely not the two spiral staircases on other ships that we are used to. May cause a real issue for picture night if people are standing on the stairs to get their pictures taken.

Welcome to cruise critic. I have a DA on deck 15 port side closer to the front edge of the sphere on a B2B in October. It will be interesting and a new experience to say the least. I had a similar cabin booked on the Star for a B2B in November next year (D1) on the starboard side deck 14. I had my TA change it to a MD mini-suite on deck 12 aft starboard. Looking forward to new experiences on both ships.

This is definitely one of the sphere balconies. If you look at the video and pause it around the 5-6 second mark you can see into the sphere balconies (full screen is best). I have one of these on the Sun but trying to change the one I have booked for the Star. I don't spend that much time in my cabin, but it is different for sure. Won't be a game changer for me on the Sun. Just make the best of it. 🙂

HA!! My grandkids call me papa. Yeah, I just sent an email to my TA to see if I can change cabins on the Star.

Dang it. I have a D1 on deck 14 for the Star Princess next year. Maybe I can change it for something else. I thought it would be nice to have that long balcony not a long dark tunnel.

That's what the press release said. Dinner and a show. But watching the video it said to experience over and over again. I guess we will have to wait until it is available and see what is reported from on board.

I saw posted that the Arena (theater) is not ready yet. I agree on Park 19. Maybe that is still a work in progress as well.

I guess I will not experience Spellbound. $149 is bit much for me.
