  1. Calling room service during MDR dinner hours and ordering off of the MDR main menu is Fleetwide (not sure about the expedition ships). I have direct experience and am not making assumptions
  2. No as buying promo chips is only one option...
  3. Clearly, it depends on the port. Sometimes renting a car is best if it allows you get on the road and beat the crowds and other times booking a semi-private independent tour is the best. If using independent tours, worth knowing what happens if the ship arrives to the port late or cancels the port. Some may only offer you a raincheck
  4. Religious scriptures? Religion and politics are definitely slippery slopes since the crew could be from anywhere and not share the givers point of view. I'm glad it worked out for you, with my luck I'd probably offend someone 😅
  5. Their pricing is dynamic and based on supply and demand...A 7 nighter on the Solstice this Saturday which appears to be at least half empty is selling an inside room for low-low price of $269/per person, sail only and before fees and taxes. If the sailing is around half full you can try going to guest services upon boarding and see if you can get a low cost upgrade to a balcony, some have reported getting one for free
  6. What specifically are you claiming isn’t true? I have direct experience with ordering dinner off the MDR menu as room service. I do not know for 2023 if they’re still doing this which I did mention in my comment you quoted
  7. Any stateroom including insides can order off the MDR dinner menu during dinner hours in any room class; this was free until 2023
  8. Here’s a question I haven’t heard answered, during breakfast can you CALL room service and order continental items without a fee or is it only free if you use the door hanger?
  9. That’ll be $14,995 + an 18% gratuity
  10. Because when I showed up I didn't yet have basic, I had to buy basic then go to the internet manager. He opened an excel spreadsheet which had a list of every internet purchased every passenger made
  11. The issue there and most likely the reason they said no/nothing at first is they simply can't answer "no, I don't want anything, just give me cash!!!". They have no problem acquiring chocolate although to be fair, it may not be free for them and it may not be a specific brand they want With sleep vs going to shore, they have a system in place where one person picks up items for everyone else. In some ports, you can have things affordably delivered to the terminal. On most cruise lines including X, not only is there no free-wifi, they cannot buy unlimited wi-fi. So even though they're tired, if the terminal area or a crew spot has relatively good free wi-fi, they'll most likely want to get off to check on things back home with wifi that's faster than on the ship
  12. More than likely they probably only watch their home countries soccer team. Even if someone gets a team they like, will they buy the correct T-Shirt size and will it be the fit they like (rhetorical)?
  13. Including the peasants like me, they only give us IVs for a patio
  14. Wasn't calling out any individual, was a generalization. It should be noted, as one can imagine this has been asked hundreds of times since the beginning of cruising. Has always been thumbs up to cash and thumbs down to souvenirs
  15. Silly me, I thought this was going to be in regards to the cutbacks 😅
  16. Ignorance is bliss...Odds are any souvenir/trinket anyone gives them will end up in the incinerator. Main reasons are, the crew quarters are small and crew and change rooms at any time. They won't send it back home as often it will cost more than the cost of the gift
  17. I follow a lot of content creators including some that were or are crew, this is what they want: 1) If you have a say in the hiring process, a land job in the US, Western Europe, etc 2) CASH 3) Prepaid wi-fi card The sad truth is, almost any trinket you give will most likely turn into population via the ships incinerator
  18. Some people go out of their way to spend time/money for a custom screened TShirt with their US hometown; at best, they may use it as a rag It's most likely EXTREMELY expensive to send things back home
  19. I would have no problem cruising after surgery; just goes without saying don't push yourself/allow yourself to heal
  20. New for 2023, unless you're in a suite or use the door hanger for continental breakfast, there will be a $9.95 + 18% tipping room service charge. Doesn't matter if you a single item like a cheese plate or are a family of four and all order soups, salads, apps, multiple entrees and desserts, same charge per order
  21. It isn't sailing-wide, it goes by category occupancy. I honestly do not know if X treats accessible rooms as it's own category or bundles non-accessible categories
  22. Yup! Yoga for one requires moving around the furniture for a typical AQ room
  23. I figure it would be comical; I go to the fitness center for all my fitness needs
