  1. Did one May 2019 and can confirm they were over $50
  2. My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is this isn't right and the real reason is they pay for bandwidth. If this is the case, they are just being cheap. VV is advertising its 1.5Gbps (or 1,500mbps).I had 25-60mbps consistently on the Carnival Celebration which has Starlink and more people than the E-Class Ms. Nuts and I work from the ship during the daytime on sea days. The premium speed of 5mbps actually does everything we need except I have MS Team video calls and have had issues. MS Teams recommends 4mbps so I'm not sure if the issue is inconsistent speeds, connection reliability, or a combination of both I just DMed X/Celebrity on X/Twitter as I've always wanted to know why they cap when other lines do not; I'll reply once I see their response
  3. They need a disclaimer... *actual passenger age and physique not typical
  4. Makes sense. Seems like they're trying to project a moving land resort which is a stretch. Both have their pros and cons yet my number one gripe with cruises is the congestion; usually, lines everywhere and the MDR has its tables on top of each other
  5. Just wanted to point out that for the average first cruiser, they probably wouldn't know the E-Class generally has a slightly lower average age than a S/M Class. Most pick a timeframe and then an itinerary including the embarkation/Disembarkation port(s) I'll also point out I have seen the evolution of DJs paying top 40 (from the past couple decades) even on the S/M class
  6. In their advertisements, they do have younger couples, yet does that translate to exclusive advertising to young adults? Probably just looks better overall showing younger attractive couples at the spa than it does showing seniors playing pickleball
  7. Lack of demand, they often became the only comped cruise low-rolling gamblers would get and would routinely offer last minute "fire sales" to fill cabins. Same with ships out of PR
  8. It's been a while since I've done this but they allow you to upgrade mid cruise, they used to pro-rate it by night. I'm sure you can still upgrade it mid-cruise but am not sure if they're still allowing discounts or not
  9. When starlink was first deployed on X, you could hit 40mbps but they throttled it down. X wifi seems to be capped at 1mbps for basic and 5mbps for premium. Last fall, was getting 60mbps with Carnival. As slow as X is, it is literally revolutionary to what they had in the past which became unusable during peak times such as just before lunch or dinner services start
  10. That can happen literally anywhere. In the US, more and more restaurants now have a mobile credit card reader where they charge your card at the table (so your card never leaves your sight) but many restaurants still take your card away and charge it at the register. I've seen it multiple times where foreigners from Europe and Australia are shocked when they take the card away to the back.
  11. IDK yet wanted to point out you can CHANGE credit cards once aboard
  12. Once you connect to the ship's wifi, there'll be the option to buy a 24-hour pass. I seem to recall $49.95; that could vary by ship or be outdated IDK, we always buy the full wifi package, perhaps you could join a roll call and offer to buy someone a drink or something premium if they let you log into their account for an hour
  13. Be sure to check on google or the URL I posted to see the hours. At my home airport of LAX, they have different hours for different terminals If there are no appts between now and your flight, odds are you won't get one unless someone cancels. My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is that most will just be a no-show who won't bother with canceling the appt
  14. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival Enrollment or renewal on arrival
  15. There isn’t a balance, residents vote to limit ships/people and the government overrules them
  16. The buffet replacement, the food hall, is a sit-down wait service, what was your experience with the wait times? Food hall wait time and various stateroom dislikes are the two main complaints I've heard. Yet hear VV's food is the best of all the mass-market lines and there's a lot more to do Thanks for the detailed review. We haven't been on VV yet but really want to, we just aren't huge fans of the itineraries. We are the most excited with the food, while food is subjective, odds are you'd find very few who would claim X's complimentary dining offerings are better than X's
  17. We feel the exact same as we don't like the itineraries and are very limited with vacation time off
  18. The drinks on VV used to be a bit cheaper, they currently are: All tax and gratuities included Beer: Heineken, Amstel Light, Kalik, and Corona, $6–$7 Basic cocktail: Absolut, Buffalo Trace, Bacardi Superior, and Beefeater, $10 Wine by the glass: 40% of wines by the glass are under $11
  19. The biggest factor is lighting, most would be better off taking it outdoors when sunny
  20. That's one of the cruise-related items SOME were protesting against (the article I posted goes into more detail), another was limiting the number of ships and/or passengers and some wanted an outright ship ban. They bundled them all under "No big ships"
  21. I could see that yet am wondering if the airline wasn't willing to book you on another airline would FBC do so One issue with not booking hotels directly is some will refuse to add your loyalty number and benefits such as possible upgrades or free breakfast
