  1. Yeah. Not from the bit I saw of Lima, on the bus ride to and from the airport to our hotel, that we missed that much, but still was a painful way to waste a vacation day.
  2. Reminds me of my shock when we had finished a long vacation, when we went to South America. We did 4 nights pre cruise in Rio, before boarding a HAL ship for a cruise around the horn. After we flew to Lima, Peru and then to Cuzco the next morning. After our time at Machu Picchu and Cuzco flew back to Lima early in the morning. Discovered American Airlines doesn’t have anyone there to check in luggage until a couple of hours prior to the flight. So, we were stuck at the Lima airport for like 10 hours. This is, also, where my DW let her guard down and after about 5 days of no salad, she thought it was safe to eat a salad at Pizza Hut at the airport. A few days after, she was on antibiotics. 😆 jc
  3. Halifax got hit hard yesterday/today by the hurricane. According to NBC it was the strongest storm ever to hit…. As if they have always known what happened in Nova Scotia a 1000 years ago….
  4. So, while sitting on the deck tonight at the lake house, a flock of Starlings (is that a thing) flew overhead, first time I have seen one. They are way faster, than regular satellites, but unmistakeable. jc
  5. Well, I don’t read most of them, but then I don’t read most of the posts, because page after page occurs between my visits, but I find them less painful than some others to read. I would never tell anyone not to post. Ever. JC
  6. I filled up at Costco Monday, it was $2.94 for unleaded regular 87 octane. Most of the summer when I was having to fill up the boat it was around $4. If you empty the strategic oil reserves before an election even when inflation is 8 or 9% you can lower gas prices. Refilling it is going to suck. just sayin jc<——— economist by education.
  7. I like Smash Burgers much better, but not a fan of their fries. First had one of those after visiting the WTC in 2016 nearby. Now there is one on the Country Club Plaza in KC. We have 3 Freddy’s near us, but we rarely go there. The crispy edge seems too closed to over cooked to me. I think they are much like Steak and Shake. The local franchise holder for Steak and Shake was a high school classmate. He sold his stores to a larger franchise holder. The last few times I have eaten at S&S it has been so disappointing. My wife loves Smash Burgers, so I have to make sure when we go to KC we have eaten before we get to the Plaza. 🤣 jc
  8. I think they like smelly onions with a small bit of soft bread and maybe beef patty. Not a proper hamburger by any definition. On the upside, they are sort of the original slider, smelly though they are.
  9. The inhumanity of Covid…. It killed one of the last great Tiki Lounges! Most of them were barely hanging on before…. Very sad. 🥲 I think I will cry quietly for a while. jc
  10. Quite good, going to the Mai Kai for dinner or drinks? We last bought luggage in 2017 before our 3 plus week trip to Asia. I was tired of wheels falling off, and seams ripping, so, I spent a small fortune on 2 Briggs and Riley bags. The Lovely K’s bag is red (suits her) and is hard sided, and it expands. Mine Blue(suits me) and is soft sided. I bought them because they have lifetime warranty and are well made. We have used them pretty much exclusively since, they still look good and I haven’t had a single broken bit yet. Not sure, when I do if they will be worth the expense of mailing them off for refurbishment. I know the cheaper, but not cheap bags prior would be destroyed by now. that said, I definitely can recommend the brand. jc
  11. I am not a fan of Prime NFL broadcast. No problem with the announcers. No problem viewing it on the Prime app. the problem is since you are watching on the app, you can’t flip channels easily to watch anything other than commercials. So, I have to say, if I was buying commercial ad time on TV I would consider buying them on Prime telecasts. I watched more commercials last night than the last year in total. Painful. Other problem is I have up to 1000 Mbps that normally operates between 400 and 700 when I run a speed test. I can watch 4 different TVs in HD or even 4K at the same time. Be on my Ipad and Mac…. With no latency or digitization. Since everyone in town was streaming Prime at the same time the first half had lots of fuzzy frozen scenes. Except for the commercials which streamed perfectly. Did I mention I despise watching commercials almost as bad as watching network news. Not quite but close. JC
  12. Best time to go to Maui is when the whales are there…. Sort of January March time frame. Might be able to seem them a bit later and a bit earlier. If you can go to sunrise at Haleakala the night of a meteor shower peak, that is kind of a unicorn type event. We were there during the peak of the Orionids in 2001. We froze our butts off, but it was spectacular. The winter for watching surfing on the North Shore of Oahu. That is big wave season. There is no bad time to be in Hawaii.
  13. I have been to Heron Island a couple of different times on the GBR. Since I went diving, I suppose that is sort of like cruising the GBR?🤣 Hope you are a diver. The dives were the best I have ever done. jc
  14. Thank you sir!!! I am sorry to hear it made your asthma worse. We so need to just live again.
  15. Wonder if the same system for vaccinated on longer cruises such as TAs?
  16. You should be able to book all from any of the dining restaurants including the main dining room. When we booked UDP, I found a person at Chops on Allure, and did the entire week including the Hibachi. I would start with that one first as it is the smallest venue. The others are easy. I do this as one of the first things when we get onboard. jc
  17. I do respect their decision. I am only questioning some posters logic. jc
  18. I am letting my imagination run wild. it is 2 AM… all is well until the 15 month old toddler wakes up. Quickly checks out the 172 square foot balcony cabin, sees the door locks…. Quietly climbs out of its bed, and toddles to the door to the balcony. Realizes the lock holding the door shut is 2 foot over its head, and immediately takes the glass table and shoves it to the door, climbs up as only a 15 month old toddler can and expertly unlocks the lock, then opens the door, which is heavy, and requires an effort that caused its pampers to be filled with unmentionable smelly stuff. Now at last the toddler is able to achieve its goal, and shoves the deck furniture to the balcony glass and rail. The toddler in complete control despite the exhausted parents best, but futile efforts, climbs up on the deck furniture and throws itself off into the dark and terrible ocean full of sharks and other hostile things. Really? Good grief jc\\\\\\\\\\\
