  1. Like the costumes, like memories. Makes me cry, just like Mama Mia. Grease makes me sigh, and wonder why I am different than the people who like that corny production. JC
  2. Probably a smaller number than are at the restaurant you are eating at now. Or the workplace you go to. Or the grocery store. JC
  3. I thought that collusion was something the governments don’t want to happen. 🤪
  4. yeah, pre cruise testing is the worst. Completely, unacceptable to have to do that over any other earthly activity. I hope we can celebrate together soon.
  5. So, it is not a perfect cabin, but compared to regular cabins, it is super awesome. You will love it and the balcony.
  6. Reminds me of a ski trip to Aspen back in the 80s, where wife’s friends who were with us were RNs met some others that were attending some sort of conference, were allowed to join said conference, and everyone had a tax deductible event. Hadn’t thought of it for buying “artwork” for work.😂
  7. Yeah, we in a corner aft on several cruises on Explorer and Freedom class. The stripper pole is a bit of a danger at night on bathroom trips, but other than that we ignore it. Even on the decks with smaller balconies, the balconies are huge compared to other balcony cabins. We were in a similar room on the last cruise, Adventure, and we had two lounge chairs, two regular chairs and a table. There is more superstructure to deal with, but we love those balconies and cabins. JC
  8. So, on our Adventure Repo from Galveston to NY. The machine worked perfectly from day 1 to about day 5. Day 5 the screen no longer showed the drinks, but if you tapped the keys and knew what they were you got a drink. That lasted a couple of days and they put a picture on the control area, showing what the buttons did. next day dead. After that went to the promenade and got a medium sized drink for free. I first asked for 2 large, they said only medium for the Diamond lounge, but made me larges. Rest of cruise I asked for mediums. I am not surprised the machine was not working after we left in mid May. It seemed truly dead, as the Munchkins would say in the Wizard of Oz. It seemed like an ancient machine compared to what I have seen on other ships. jc
  9. Exactly, I pick up 2 coffees most mornings, I take one back to the DW who I left sleeping when I return before I head off to the FlowRider. I bring her a few snacks from the continental offerings as well. I see lots of people do the same thing.
  10. Yes, you need a card with a pin and chip. You need to tell your CC provider you want a four digit pin associated with your credit card. I had a major struggle in a car at a unmanned French Toll Booth before I found a card in my wallet with a PIN that I remembered!🤣 jc
  11. Why would anyone in today’s world take out a bunch of foreign currency at a bad exchange rate (local big bank) when 99% of transactions can be done on a major credit card with fraud protection and the lowest exchange rate and no foreign transaction fees. I took out a Capital 1 card 20 years ago for exactly that reason. Now many cards offer no foreign transaction fees. I agree it is nice to have some local currency for small purchases, which is all you need for a cruise. Now, if I was doing a land tour, I would definitely go to an ATM and get some cash. We did a river cruise several years ago, to Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and Hungary (4 different currencies) not exactly London or Paris, I was easily able to find an ATM within a single block of where I arrived each and every time I needed to withdraw some currency. When I am in a foreign country I don’t really want a large supply of currency, which usually comes home as a reminder of a trip. Euros and pounds, I keep because odds are high I will be back and be able to use them in the future.
  12. We were able to get in on the Allure in the Standby Line in December, but it was 60% occupancy. I learned my lesson, and we got to the Adventure in Galveston early, and I booked everything while the Coast Guard was doing their thing. I had everything booked by 11. About half of it showed up in the app. I made some minor changes after we boarded and most of those never showed up. We had the 5 night dining package, which on the Allure is way more than enough, Chops and Giovanni’s. 5 times in 13 nights is way plenty. The app is not quite useless, but it is not a gold standard. 🤪 jc
  13. That was my experience on the Adventure April 30. I don’t know how universal it is, but I haven’t been able to book on my previous Allure cruise last December either. JC
  14. Definitely book the comedy club the first thing you do when you are where you can access the booking feature on the app. jc
  15. So, two hours have passed. I don’t even remember what is infinitely better than Hairspray, but I feel comfortable to saying Cats is infinitely better than Hairspray. 🤣
  16. The Hibachi/Teppanyaki grill is the only good reason to book Izumi… Sushi is MEH at best. That said, I am sure you should fight to enforce the commercial contract… that will make for some awesome vacation memories!!!!! Enjoy your cruise. I booked the UDP in 2020 on the Allure it was very nice. The prices on my future cruises are double what I paid 2 plus years ago. jc
  17. The Monopoly theme is horrible, and the gambling show on Adventure even worse.
  18. JCSS was to me a rock opera ALBUM. Later it became the thing it is now. Tim Rice and ALW were upstarts, and couldn’t get enough money to make it on the West End or Broadway, so they made a rock album. So, Jesus was played by Ian Gillan (who was one of the best screamers of any Rock Band at the time he was the lead singer of Deep Purple (smoke on the water, and my woman from Tokyo) at the time who were at the pinnacle of their popularity. Judas was Murray Head who was in the London Version of Hair. One of my all-time favorite albums was his mid 70s Say it Ain’t So. Mary Magdalene was Yvonne Ellman a complete unknown at the time. The band was from various rock bands from the time. JCSS is simply a rock album. No acting at all. The show when it was made into a musical played on both Broadway and The West End in London. Most people first saw it at the Movies. At the time I hated the movie, because I knew the songs as they were played on the original Rock Opera. I would have probably hated the plays in London and NY for the same reason! I have softened since my childhood, but when I was 11 or 12 this album was the most important album I had ever heard. JC
  19. I have enjoyed both. I think the music is way better in Cats than Hamilton. That said, I found the Hamilton production to be quite good, and a bit bizarre.
