  1. There is no limit just as long as it's a sensible amount for personal use ,we have covered this topic so many times on this forum. The reasoning behind the statement, Cunard Line still reserved the right to remove alcohol from any guest prior to boarding, if for example they believe that the guest/s are intoxicated during the check-in and security procedures . They can also remove 'excessive amounts' of alcohol brought onboard by groups of Stag/Hen party revellers, occasionally this happens on 2/3 day mini cruises. How do I know all this ? A former colleague who is now in retirement working at the cruise terminals has some wonderful stories to share.
  2. Club Dining is a half way house to Princess Grill. eg; Anytime Dining , however, with a dedicated table and wait staff for all meals ,intimate restaurant , enhanced menu . The stateroom is exactly the same size of a standard Britannia balcony ( the club balcony is not larger !) however, there are some additional amenities, for example a Coffee machine and bottled water replenished daily plus a high end fluffy towelling bath robe . Edited to add: The Club dining 'restaurant' on the two vista class ships ( QE/Q.Vic) are far superior to the CD restaurant venue on QM2 .
  3. "Broken Supply Chains and any number of ingredients unavailable" confirms exactly the comment in a previous post I made re; the lack of Lobster Tail and Escargot post pandemic .
  4. Those 'White areas' are usually access areas for the use of Crew members only, often with stairs ( or a service lift) down to the next level. The only time you will notice any activity in this area is on embarkation day when guest luggage arrives onboard before being delivered to the staterooms . It should not cause you any alarm . A white area on deck plans can also indicate the steward/ess pantry/closet used for the storage of bed linen, towels etc.
  5. That's the beauty of these forums and cruisecritic many on here have first hand experience of the onboard product and the brand, unlike booking agents sitting behind their computer who have probably never stepped foot onboard a ship .
  6. Yes of course you can , not only in the Lido but also in the Golden Lion pub or a snack in the Chart Room As I've said so many times on this forum There is Life Outside the Grills ! And don't forget, if you prefer Afternoon Tea with a bit of an atmosphere ( rather than sitting at a high table in a restaurant) then visit the Queens Room featuring live music and occasionally a Tea Dance 👍
  7. Avoid Port Side ! the areas between 4148 through to 4178. These are directly above the Britannia Kitchens . Although I've haven't experience these cabins on QE , I have experience these cabins on Q.Victoria . Never again , avoid at all costs , noise at all hours directly from the 'kitchens below'. Starboard side deck 4 Aft is preferred , these cabins are above the upper level of the restaurant there is NO noise from the restaurant.
  8. Yes 12 days with only two formals . Good to hear it is still featuring occasionally.
  9. Probably uplifted in the USA or Vancouver
  10. You were very lucky , certainly none whilst I was onboard Q.Vic ex 'Southampton UK' in June,September, or December 2022.
  11. I've had a few conversations with senior management onboard Cunard over the last 18 months regarding what appears to be cutbacks ( Five + cruises post pandemic ) Apparently most of what we would refer to as cutbacks is in fact due to supply & demand post pandemic . Post pandemic I've been disappointed not have seen Lobster Tail or Escargot on the menu ( not even on any formal evenings - Q.Vic/QE ) The exec chef onboard at the time assured me it was all due to supply/demand during this present climate . Interestingly the same issues were confirmed to me the other month when I visited the Savoy Grill on a recent visit to London.🤷‍♂️
  12. Yes , apparently they have both .
  13. I've just had a reply from the Entertainment department , Yes Cunard do have mahjong sets onboard the ship.
  14. I'm afraid I don't . I'll try and find out for you as I have friends and family onboard QM2 at the moment .
  15. You've taken the words out of my mouth BigMac 👏 and don't get me started on those Union Jack ( or stars and stripes) Bow Ties. Cunard transatlantic crossing are far too upmarket for gimmicks like that .
  16. mahjong ! No I'm afraid unlike the bridge tournaments Cunard don't offer offer mahjong sessions (unlike Seabourn) However, I have occasionally noticed guests getting together with other like minded folk and arranging their own sessions. It's very easy to arranged an un hosted mahjong session , the entertainment department will place a notice in the onboard daily program for you to meet up with other passengers who may interested.
  17. Spa ! No need at all to consider booking Spa appointments in advance. Wait until you are onboard as often there are daily promotions and 'reductions' , they are on offer on every crossing - I've lost count of how many I've taken advantage of. If you book ahead, no you cannot use OBC . Alternative restaurant ! ( The Veranda ) Again no need to be be booking in advance unless you have a particular date in mind for a very special celebration. On a QM2 crossing tables are always available daily in the Veranda restaurant, unlike the two vista class ships which are mainly port intensive.
  18. When anyone is approaching me I'll move out out the way , however, let's just hope after reading the original post , any newbies walking onto Queens Room Dance floor don't attempt to move forward Clock wise .
  19. Yes, it refers to those who maybe eligible for 'Inter Line Concessions' eg Airline personal, Travel agents , or Carnival employee Friends & Family rates. Carnival share options are not affected when booking a good deal or promotions.
  20. Depends on how old the wearer is . Personally I stick to dark navy or black , any gentlemen over the age of 25 wearing light blue denim these days looks ridiculous .
  21. Re; back to back itineraries, certainly no perks offered from Cunard that I'm aware of. Could you share with us what in the way of benefits or perks you may have received from other cruise lines.
  22. If your booking arrangements are with a 'Cunard Fly cruise' this will include a slightly later time of disembarkation with transfers to JKF. En route you will be dropped off somewhere in Manhattan usually it has been Macy's department store - or nearby for a couple of hours before arrival at JFK for check-in . I've had experience of this many times . Check with the tours office what the arrangements are during your voyage .
  23. Never mind Wifi connection , that's a problem on all cruise lines - Please let me know when you find a cruise line with Excellent Wifi. I recently disembarked from Silversea - they call it Ultra Luxury , however, Wifi problems no different to my years of experience with Cunard . The biggest change you will notice is the Evening Dress code for Gentlemen (non formal evenings) Jackets after six pm are now optional, so brace your self for Polo shirts and Cargo pants, of course Seasoned Cunaders are taking no notice of this and 75/% are continuing to make their evenings a sense of occasion. 😉
  24. Officially both guests in the same cabin will be required to purchase a drinks package each, however, I have recently raised this same question with the food & Beverage department ( Q.V. December 2022 ) The reply I was given " If we can be satisfied that the other guest is unable to drink Alcohol ( for medical reasons ) then we may be able to adjust the purchase ". I guess they may need some sort of proof ? I have no idea if anyone to-date has been able to arrange this.
