John Heald the legendry C.D. on Carnival is funnier than any comic on any ship. Quick witted and just a bit naughty in a classy way . Has a bit of Benny Hill in him (that is a good thing).

On Notre Dane again, I found the inside dark and un-inspiring unlike the Vatican or Saint Paul's.

Funny you should mention Notre Dame .Love Europe and historic buildings but Notre Dame did not do much for me.

The train is the cheapest but most times it is very crowded and is standing room only .

Mostly good advice so far, I would add arrive at least a day in advance remove the stress of making the ship and enjoy your embark city . To me Barcelona is the best and easy to get to port ,it is right in town . Good luck with your studying up, it will add a lot to your trip.

We went second to third week of Sept. also great Salmon fishing caught like 25 or more on metal bridge in town only cost 10 dollars for a lic. in 2001. Best day fishing ever (and I go a lot).

The temps are always iffy in Alaska you may luck out it will be wet .Prepare for the worst and hop for the best. One good thing souvenir's will be cut rate like 50% or more of everything.

We do not use a lot of over the counter drugs but i always save unit packed samples from mailing's and doctors office etc.

Did it once in Paris on X no issues , had two full days in the city .

Have had a few women don't remember which line. As far as which country people do what , I find the women from eastern Europe have a little edge to them. I am O.K. with this I am an an East coast type.

Have done many cruise ship excursions. My best was not on a cruise but from the hotel in the Grand Canyon . For one hundred dollars each a bus ride to and all day raft down the Colorado river with lunch on the river . Best money ever spent my grandson still talks about it (this was 2004).

Perhaps both are wise enough to know that it is best when worlds DON'T' collide .

Many new ships are laden with apps for almost everything from getting on the ship to dinner reservations even now ordering you meals even in the buffet. I know many like this and it can make SOME things easier but for some of us it is just a pain. For me part of getting away is getting away from tech, social media and phones (the wired kind too). I know there are some of like me I don't know how to deal with this this on board. I do think it is making a tech class system and those who do not partake in these apps will lose out on many things . What do you think and what class are you in.

Not on your list but at one time X had white glove waiters grab your tray in the buffet and find you a table . Nice touch

I miss the printed newspapers some lines had ,like to know what is going on Hal. was good some never had one.

I Talked about this a few weeks ago and no one had ever heard of it . Was before my time saw it in a few movies.

The same reason Europe ( so worried about global warming) is doing away with nuclear (Zero emissions and going with coal ( the worst) . The same people who bow to science when they agree with it ,refuse to accept the science on nuclear and spread fear to people who are not very smart.

It surprises me when I talk to people on ships how many have cruised a lot and never consider Europe. It is by far the best place to cruise ,the history and geography make it so. Almost all trips have at three very different countries , and so much to see. Still I think the % is small . What do you think the reasons are.
