  1. Mid to late May is our favorite time to do a northbound Alaska cruise out of Vancouver.
  2. Whenever I think of Radiance class I think of the poor design of the Centrum and the fact that they use this area when they should be using the Safari Lounge...as it seats more people. This couldn't have been more evident on the Serenade last week.
  3. Agree...book as soon as the schedule opens. I just wish the schedules would be released a bit quicker.
  4. We used Cruise Control (amazing company) this past April and easily made our noon scheduled flight time...unfortunately the flight was cancelled numerous times.
  5. Then I guess you haven't sailed in an OS on the different classes of RCI ships. Recently sailed specifically on Navigator, Explorer, Jewel and Serenade and the internet wasn't included in the OS's...which it would have been nice if it were.
  6. My point was also that the internet should be a perk on "all" ships fleetwide GS and above. Kinda crazy that staying in an OS on any class of ship internet isn't included. JMHO
  7. Just off Serenade this past weekend (Alaska multi glacier itinerary) and while I usually love this class of ship I was very disappointed with a few things in the GS category we sailed in. Getting ready to board her this coming Sunday for the Panama Canal but have opted for the OS and so glad I did. I usually sail for the itinerary but I'll now lean towards the ship class and specific category as well.
  8. I believe checking in luggage will depend on the class of service booked. Flying bus/first it shouldn't be a problem checking it in early....or at least it hasn't when needing to.
  9. For some reason I thought I had read it was different on Wonder and Symphony...But I'm not sure now. Someone will come along quick to correct me if not true.
  10. Creating busy work = job security
  11. I believe the internet isn't included when booking GS and above...right? I think it should be fleetwide !!!
  12. Not sure the gift cards and the gift certificates are the same but I use my certificates towards my final balance due. I believe you can apply the cards to OBC if done before you cruise....might be 10 business days.
  13. We've also sailed in #9256 and the #1100 luckily we had no noise issues from the WJ. Yes ... Not a fan of the GS on this class at all but since we had extended family sailing with us I booked into #1054 (the old CL) the #1052 next door to them was important. Otherwise I avoid the old style GS's.
  14. More glass and open views of the sea is the big difference on this class of ship.
  15. Enjoy the Explorer. We did a B2B on her this past March for her southern caribbean itinerary out of San Juan.
  16. Yes...but even I could easily see some of the bags they were flagging to be measured were so obviously "tiny" and that was my point.
  17. Regardless of which ship and where it is...internet can vary and also be affected by weather. It's all about the location of the satellite and how strong the signal is.
  18. The online check in is correct...You will be fine...enjoy your cruise !!
  19. RCI luggage valet hasn't been resumed post-covid. I'm sure when and if it does it will be a new topic on these boards. You may not even find out until you are onboard.
  20. Never an option in San Juan due to the agriculture check. "RCI" luggage valet hasn't resumed post-covid.
  21. While this certainly doesn't apply to me I found your facts to this question to be very interesting. If it's just a "port stop" in Canada how will/do they stop you from going ashore ?
  22. Just flew on Air Canada from YVR-LAX yesterday and this was the first time I've seen gate staff actually walking around the departure gate checking carryons. So many had to go up and measure their carryon and visually the bags were so small...very surprised at this...especially since the bins on this particular aircraft seemed larger than usual.
  23. Yes we were completely prepared for everything...I can't tell you how many times I (we) kept checking our phones at YVR. We had even pre-arranged with our private transportation to take us to the testing site and to wait for us and then continue on to Canada Place. We will absolutely be back to cruise Alaska for a 6th time. Again, I appreciate all your help and certainly your patience answering my many questions. Hoping you had a good visit with your Mom !!!
  24. Yes...we did fill it out as instructed but upon landing in Vancouver no one asked to see it (QR code) nor did they flying back to the US. We did our proctored test for RCI but they barely glanced at our hard copy. I was so concerned about the random testing as we arrived into YVR from LAX on our Air Canada flight but that didn't even seem to be a real thing. Very strange how this all played out in real time.
