  1. They likely introduces the fixed two hour time slots to manage spa capacity - likely something that is no longer needed [if it ever was needed]. For 'recent' crossings [2017 & 2019] I think the peak number of folks I observed in the 'thermal suite' area was under 10 at any one time. I think I will also take a printout of the day pass description and price list - likely without result, but it can't hurt to try.
  2. Is that recommended serving temp in Fahrenheit, Celsius or Kelvin? 😉
  3. I believe that even short cruises will have a formal/gala night. Back in 2019 there were formal nights each way between Southampton and Hamburg. There are 2 UK sockets [one typically has the electric kettle - but you can always move that]. There are also US 110 volt style sockets [next to the UK sockets on the desk; at the original TV location above the drawer with the hair dryer.
  4. I used Safari's 'inspector ' feature - and the HTML source contained similar code - looks like it's a CSS problem, not the data driving the web page
  5. So far, all our our cruises have been from our 'back yard'. There are no bridges, tunnels or ferries between our house and the Brooklyn Cruise terminal. So far we have not had any incentive to start a cruise by getting on an airplane.
  6. And a bit off topic [topic drift is standard procedure for forums] has Britannia late seating reverted to normal? [assigned tables?] .... We now rejoin your covid/mask thread - already in progress 😉
  7. Still not shown for my 25 October sailing (54 days until departure) - also still awaiting my BU guarantee to be assigned.
  8. I was looking for this a couple of week's back - and only found a 'Dinner at the Lido' page https://www.cunard.com/en-us/activity-types/dining/dinner-at-the-lido omitting any mention of rotating themes. Hopefully this is simply yet another example of inept web site design and content. Perhaps folks posting a 'live from QM2' thread can fill in some of the blanks [assuming they can get some of the WiFi they will be paying for]
  9. For 13 November we currently have planned visiting St Michaels for Sunday mass then lunch at the Dancing Man.
  10. I have heard that the QE & QV are currently doing traditional assigned table & time for dinner seatings [early and late seatings]. I am hoping that QM2 returns to assigned tables for the late seating. We prefer the late seating so there is more time between lunch or tea and dinner. For a port intensive sailing it takes the pressure off getting ready for dinner after a late arrival shore excursion. We may be missing a couple of our normal late dinners on our Northern Lights sailings in Tromso for an Arctic Cathedral concert & a Northern Lights chase on the two nights we will be in port. From my reading here on 'smart attire' nights only a collared shirt is required [I would call that informal]
  11. No emails from Cunard - with a Brooklyn departure date of 25 October, there is plenty of time for several rule changes.
  12. I would think its possible, and likely has been done many times. You'll be all set for self disembarkation if that suits your schedule [first off].
  13. This November the last two Norway ports [Cunard M234A] are Alesund on 10 November and Stavenger on 11 November. Fjord cruise excursions are available for both ports [including Cunard arranged excursions]. I was wondering which fjord cruse would be preferred. If we choose not to book the ship's tour - any tour operators to prefer or avoid?
  14. From the 'keeping in touch' page [oddly Google fetch the Aus version] https://my.cunard.com/en-au/mycruise//articles/keeping-in-touch By telephone – to connect with the ship, please call (+1)-732-335-3272 for calls originating outside of the U.S. For calls from the U.S. please dial (877)-266-0985. These numbers connect to the maritime telecommunications network where you will be prompted to enter your credit card number and expiration date. Your call will be charged at a rate of US$9.50 per minute upon connecting to the ship. Calls on this network are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes per call.
  15. For the formal/gala nights - 'black tie' is always correct. Most of the time the 'theme' is observed in the Queens Room [e.g. a parade of masked passengers on Masquerade night]. 'Roaring 20s' predates the 'zoot suit' - and a tux aligns perfectly with the theme. Black tie is Black and White The 'red & gold' [formally called 'Royal Cunard'] calls for red and or gold accents - pocket square, shirt studs, cummerbund.
  16. And Mrs Bear and I desire a return to the fixed seating / assigned table for the late seating.
  17. Typically there is also a polo shirt [available in red or blue] sold on crossings at a pop up table in the lobby. Back in 2008 I purchased a QM2 necktie - the only other person I have seen wearing one was Steve Payne at one his lectures in 2019.
  18. Nope - not visible on the 'booking summary' or the 'before you sail/personaldetails' pages either. I noticed a link https://www.cunard.com/en-us/my-account but that goes nowhere useful Quote: My Account. Unfortunately, My Account Login and Registration are currently undergoing maintenance repairs. Please know our teams are working hard to get My Account Login and Registration up and running again. If you have questions regarding your Cunard World Club account or loyalty status, please call Customer Service at (800) 728-6273.
  19. I was wondering if I could ask a favor on behalf of Mrs Bear. The next time you go to the Spa Reception, could you check if they still offer 'fill in' service for gel nails? [gel over acrylic].
  20. I never noticed a supply of umbrellas when leaving - I will need to look next time. I do bring a small travel umbrella in the top of my camera bag - even for excursions that start on a sunny day.
  21. No photos are allowed on the tour - but a photographer accompanies the group, and took photos on the Bridge. I also received a QM2 chef's apron.
  22. With Cunard websites, I would usually assume 'stupid glitch' is the best answer 😉
  23. The LM2500 engines run on 'marine gas oil' - also called 'number 2 diesel' in the US. There are grades of this fuel that also have different sulfur content.
  24. The 'Roll Call' thread for your cruise may be found at this link. The CC Boards include forums for Celebrity cruises and Alaska - both are worth visiting [in addition to forums like this one and the Cruise/Travel Insurance forum - you have purchased insurance, right?]
