  1. Hello, The SL & DL coffee machines are a bit like computer programs - garbage in, garbage out. DL this year on Anthem they were using Illy beans whereas in SL they were using Lavazza - and much better for it. Both wrongly use regular milk when the machine's instruction clearly state to use semi-skimmed as the fat in regular milk clogs the machines arteries. Sadly neither seem to be cleaned as regularly as I used to see on Indy/Adventure/Navigator/Explorer when in UK. The small excuse for a sink in the DL is totally useless for washing-out the brewing unit that might explain why it is not done. Regards, Cublet
  2. Hello, Last month on Silhouette it was on embarkation day but finished by 13.30. Last year it was on the first sea day and I, for one, couldn't see why they bothered. Regards, Cublet
  3. Hello, I don't disagree with you. What I am questioning is the oft-quoted 'algorithm' when I think it's just a finger in the air. Regards, Cublet
  4. Hello, The worst pink fizz I have ever tasted was Russian Pink 'Champagne' - but that was in the days prior to the break-up of the Soviet Union. Given Russia's current foray westwards it might be able lay claim to own real Champagne before long. Regards, Cublet
  5. Hello, Based on the size of my tip I would have thought so. Regards, Cublet
  6. Hello, I think the RoyalUP is an exercise in smoke and mirrors supplemented with a good dose of BS. The price on RCI's website is 'the price' (E&OE) whereas the RoyalUP website is Plusgrade's that is only updated periodically. How do I know this? OK, this is for Celebrity, but I cancelled a X cruise three days out and rebooked because of a massive price difference. For those three days the 'old' booking was still live on Plugrade (with the previous/existing upgrade costs) whereas the new booking was not there. The 'massive price difference' was a 56% reduction and if there was any logic to the pricing structure then the up bid prices should be reduced by a similar amount otherwise those bidding were overpaying twice - first on the original price at which they booked and secondly on historical differences on cabin grade prices that were not updated. Regards, Cublet
  7. Hello, You misunderstand. The Bar Manager was a guy in a suit and white shirt that you see walking about the place and doing nothing in particular - and certainly not serving. The bar staff, black waistcoats & shirts, once they understood what I was asking for, were good people. Regards, Cublet
  8. Hello, Whilst this is true, for as long as there is no single meeting place nor nibbles of varying temperatures and quality, then the only people affected by having Day #1 Happy Hour would be the bar staff. They would be serving anyway so the only difference between having and not having HH would be the account being charged - the Pax or the loyalty programme. Regards, Cublet
  9. Hello, The OP said "later this year", but not how much later. If it's the TA and/or what follows in October then posting #2 from wrk2cruise is correct. If it's before the TA then this posting is correct. I would also add that there is a B2B lunch - though not much to shout about. Regards, Cublet
  10. Hello, I think that distribution to the cabins remains as before, but having piles of them outside Guest Relations has gone. Regards, Cublet
  11. Hello, I cannot speak for what you have in the US, but here we have a TA that is 100% owned by Royal even though it's not included in the TA's name. Regards, Cublet
  12. Hello, See my previous post: Whilst the bar staff are not responsible for what is on board, the bar staff alone are responsible for what they pour. Regards, Cublet
  13. Hello, Last month, June 2022, I gave the Bar Manager on Silhouette a stern talking too. I said when I ask for either Champagne or Prosecco I want Champagne or Prosecco. I don't mind being offered something different, but not served it in lieu of what I asked for. To my simple mind, the person responsible for this is the bar manager/supervisor or whoever is responsible for training. Either there has been no training on the difference between Champagne, Prosecco, Chandon or the swill that appears in Concierge cabins, or they have been told to ignore any request and to serve, depending on availability, in reverse order from the list in the previous sentence. In the early days of the cruise, I perched myself where I could see what was being served (and to stop it if I saw it was wrong) until I was recognised and the barmen knew exactly what I wanted. Regards, Cublet
  14. Hello, You should look on the bright side. At least by not answering your call, you are not being given incorrect information. Regards, Cublet
  15. Hello, Perhaps it was a typo, but are you sure you didn't intend "cack IT department"? Regards, Cublet
  16. Hello, This is why I like cruises to the Med with a stop at Gib on the outward journey. I can call into Morrisons to stack-up on emergency provisions should X's catering fail me. In June, on Silhouette, the selection of imported cheeses with biscuits and crackers came 'sans' biscuits so I had to call into an Irish supermarket in Waterford. Regards, Cublet PS: And it was only two miserable Carr's crackers too.
  17. Hello, Just because the passenger can't do it, it doesn't stop the corporation from doing it. Some year in the early 2000s, I was bribed to move a booking from Voyager to Celebrity Century - increased OBC, upgraded cabin and free flights were offered to change. As it happened, Norovirus came as a free 'bonus'! I can't remember how long after X sold-off the ship but it was overdue. Regards, Cublet
  18. Hello, I think there's a competition in the galley. Swill is put out and staff place bets to see if anyone eats it. Regards, Cublet
  19. Hello, It's a vicious circle: The louder the music plays, the more deaf the sound technician gets; the more deaf the sound technician gets, the more he has to turn up the volume; the louder the music plays, the more deaf the sound technician gets and so on and so on. In Two70 it's not only that the 'music' [that's a matter of opinion] was loud, I could feel my inners vibrate. Regards, Cublet
  20. Hello, Generally the 270 days refers to the two primary doses (or 1 for J&J) ie not including the booster. There is currently no expiry date or period on the booster. You say you have had three vaccinations so that's probably the two 'originals' and one booster so you should be OK. Regards, Cublet
  21. Hello, If you want postings based only on the facts and not conjecture, then (1) no thread will ever achieve double figures in terms of number of posts, and (2) some people will have lost their sole purpose in life. Regards, Cublet
  22. Hello, I was referring to the main engines in the engine rooms (excluding emergency ones), not the number of azipods. Regards, Cublet
  23. Hello, I have not tried it. This is chiefly because I read a copy of his book from the library on Silhouette. It was not until page 380 that I found anything I would want to eat. Regards, Cublet
  24. Hello, Not a lot of detail. Says "one of the engines......" - the Quantum does have four of them. Regards, Cublet
  25. Hello, Interesting that RCI has just announced (via FB) the same sort of thing for its Anthem sailing of 23rd September. There appears to be a pattern. Regards, Cublet
