  1. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, I am glad you posted this. It is Princess. I went to your link: This applies to itineraries to all destinations except where government regulations may vary like Australia and Japan voyages that have their own vaccination and testing requirements. Look up requirements for your voyage with our CruiseHealth tool. Used link to go to CruiseHealth tool. That's where I found the above. No mention of all the other requirements. I feel so bad for those who are not on Cruise Critic. ******** This is what was sent to us in an "Important" email the other day. At check-in, Guests ages 5 and above must produce a photo with a time and date stamp of a negative self-administered COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) taken within 24 hours before cruise embarkation.  All testing and vaccination information must be uploaded to the MedallionClass app prior to sailing when getting OceanReady.  Please note that testing and self-tests will not be available at the pier. This should have been included in their web announcement.
  2. @PacnGoNow ALMOST....but no cigar/horseshoe Written on website: For Japan Voyages.... All guests ages 5 and older are required to take a COVID-19 test. Self-administered COVID-19 antigen home test within 1 day before embarkation, or Medically observed PCR test taken within 2 days before embarkation. It states self-administered COVID-19 antigen home test. It LEFT OUT: Need to photograph negative test results (photo of the card) WITH a time stamp, and photo ID. And upload to Medallion Class App
  3. Where was the suite breakfast? Outside your door at the Crown Grill or upstairs and down the hall in Sabatini's?
  4. yes (with OBC)...still does not seem like a fair/equitable deal.
  5. The bottle of wine that you can exchange for is pretty sad. For the "value" of the mini-bar, you will be given credit for one of their low end wines. You can "always" upgrade...for $$
  6. Looks like a Window Suite (Caribbean Princess) on Fiesta Deck 6. 3 closets / 21 drawers / full suite bathroom with shower and bathtub.
  7. I just want an old fashioned hot fudge sundae with nuts and a cherry. Coffee ice cram would be fantastic, but a good vanilla would be appreciated. But 2 a day? Can you share? Ha Ha.
  8. I have learned to answer to anything since I can't remember which kid is which when they are together (that's my grown daughters). I know who they are, just call them by the wrong names...haha,,,and they answer. And then, most people butcher my last name. I'm fine, still learning myself how to use proper pronouns. As for "the kid", it is really scary to see how this youngest generation can operate devices. At Christmas, he paired my new bluetooth headset and my airtags. I am really lucky. I have my own IT department, ranging in age. Most times, they are skilled enough to give me remote instructions. Otherwise, I just wait until I am together with them. I am sure many others out there have the same support team. Too bad Princess isn't as fortunate.
  9. @arctickittyI absolutely love your adventurous mind set. Your thread is a very refreshing tour of Hawaii through the eyes of someone who enjoys all that nature has to offer in the islands.
  10. Agree, but that ia full day's drive/visit to the other side of the island. It's FAR (in kama'aina driving mind). Not enough time for a cruise passenger to make it over and back. Same if the ship docks in Lahaina. Best to wait for Oahu (4), or Kauai (1). We have most of the major chains, including Olive Gardens, Chick-fil-A, and Target. Costco and Sam's Club gas is cheaper than California...go figure.
  11. BUT as some one else pointed out, if even a small percentage of beverage package holders decide to take advantage of the 2 classes, Princess would have to hire more instructors or pull from another pool. Which would then create a shortage in that department…affecting those passengers. Shortage of personnel or hiring more? Which avenue do you think Princess will take? Of course, I am speculating and being hypothetical. You are probably correct, class sizes would probably not increase significantly. I went from teaching 15 students to a district that I had 40 kids x 6 classes.
  12. Order of operations at work! Thank you from a math teacher. For all others …. ($16 x 2) + ($7.50 x 2) = $47 💰❤️💰❤️💰❤️💰❤️💰❤️
  13. I am glad that one person is coming out ahead with these packages. I am sure the bean counters tilted the curve in their favor. I just wonder how many (what percent) will NOT take advantage of all the added perks. Pay and not use = pure profit.
  14. I love that they are offering you two (2) desserts a day and two (2) gym classes to work off the calories. As if we aren't eating enough calories already. Thank you, but no thank you. Just reduce my package price by $20 and let those who want these extras pay a few dollars ($5 each) more for them (ala carte). In a previous life time, didn't they charge you for gelato and yoga classes?
  15. Read the article....midway...is the dreaded John Padgett name. Who would have guessed? https://www.travelpulse.com/news/cruise/princess-fleet-to-offer-tyra-banks-new-ice-cream-brand-smize-cream.html And this one is hysterical. Isn't the Discovery Princess the one refunding $10? https://www.google.com/search?q=tyra+banks+ice+cream+princess+cruises&oq=tyra+banks+ice+cream&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i512j46i175i199i512j0i512l2j0i22i30i625j0i22i30j0i22i30i625j0i390l2.7049j1j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:30201616,vid:eGsIe0hqofU
  16. The algorithm gets more complicated than above. Too many variables. What if you are elite and have 50% off Medallion Net? Which stateroom category are you in? ($16/ppd, $17/ppd, $18/ppd) drink $unknown) + 18% Princess Plus [ - (Medallion Net net cost) - (crew incentive x number of days) ], then take the balance and calculate how many drinks (cost of drink + 18%) you plan on having. Repeat for Princess Premium: Or chock it up to convenience. For me, the breakeven point was 2 alcoholic drinks a day and convenience to order soft drinks and water whenever. But this was under the old plan ($40 or $50). It got complicated when they raised the price and added the dessert and gym classes that I have absolutely no interest in. Or the 2 specialty dinners, photo package, and theater seats for the Premium. For me, I have all my cruises booked under and old rate for 2023. After this year, I will just use OBC to buy ala carte. I'm retired. Life should not be this complicated.
  17. I am disappointed as I watched the bridge cam. We are getting battered in California. It's cold....didn't break 60 today. And there you are, having a warm and wonderful time in Lahaina. Looking forward to hearing how your last port day went. Glad I didn't read about your rescue on your hike up Diamond Head. At least twice a month, some senior has to be airlifted out.
  18. @skynightI think Princess needs to hire you to write their brochure. Fabulous description of staterooms. Way to Go!
  19. Not every island. None on Lana'i or Moloka'i (no Walmart/Costco). Hilo doesn't have a Costco or Sam's Club. They closed the Hilo Hattie in Hilo (so ironic) and their very large flagship store in Honolulu. Now, just a shell of a hallway at Ala Moana Center.
  20. HER...grandson...is scary techie. Really great to have around.
  21. And nowhere is it mentioned that if add it to your cruise fare, you will PAY insurance and tax on the package. Neither does it say if you purchase it onboard, that you will be able to pay the same as pre-cruise. Time to make Princess all inclusive and spread the profits amongst EVERYONE (including those that don't drink {sarcasm} ). Then maybe, just maybe, the package will cost LESS. Only dreaming. Please don't pop my bubble.
  22. Yes, you are. I tried to do the same for ALL of the 6 ports the Diamond would stop in on her Japan voyage. It took me an hour to do one port. Copy, Cut, Paste, Reset fonts, etc. I then asked my 7 year old grandson to do this for me. In under an hour, with his iPad and pencil, I had a PDF document with ALL of the excursions, prices, descriptions, page breaks, etc. If you want my copy...I will be happy to send it to you...but don't think you want Japan. Would you like to hire my grandson? I think he works cheap.
  23. I received an Important Notice Email today (for March voyage). It detailed the require RAT test 24 hours prior to embarkation. EMBARKATION/VACCINATION/TESTING Please wear a mask upon arrival at the Yokohama Cruise terminal and throughout the check-in and embarkation process. All guests 18 years of age or older must have received their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before the beginning of the cruise and must also have received at least one booster prior to embarkation (a total of three vaccination doses, or two doses for guests who are vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine).    Vaccination certificates must be written in or translated into English or Japanese to be valid. As a reminder, you'll need to upload these to the Princess MedallionClass app as part of the OceanReady process. Guests under 18 years of age are not required to be fully vaccinated if they are traveling with their fully vaccinated parents or guardians. ON BOARD Face masks will be required indoors on board for guests 5 years and older.
  24. @Bobbiegentry just posted this on their way to Yokohama. The only reason I am reposting this is because some passengers may not be aware that this is you are able to pre-process through Narita or Haneda easier. The airport website says you don't need it. You can go through the normal channels. I am sure there will be a lot of non-cruise critic passengers who will not know about this immigration (above) site nor the need for a Jeju e-Visa (K-ETA). I like to have all my ducks in a row. Got my YEN. Got my Won. Got my Covid Test kits.
