  1. @Bobbiegentry Would you mind if I attach your "mandatory" entry form to my thread? I have been trying to consolidate requirements for Japan.
  2. Watching your bridge cam. Looks like calm waters, but no whales. It's your last day in Paradise. Sure hope you had a great time visiting the islands. Aloha and do come again.
  3. Verses $39 (give or take) for 15 specialty coffees for the cruise. Highway ROBBERY.
  4. Good Brewed coffee is not fleet wide. The Grand had horrible coffee in the MDR.
  5. You went to Iolani? Small world. Someday we will have to trade stories (off line). He just opened one between Leonards and Waiola Shave Ice in Kapahulu.
  6. Oops…look for signs. Do hope you guys will get some sun SHINE today. It’s about a mile walk otherwise, with lots to see and dodge.
  7. If the shuttles are running, it will pick you up at the end of the pier. Direct run to the store with return to the ship. Look for shines. There’s a small mall near Hilo Hattie’s.
  8. If history is your thing, Lahaina was the Kingdom of Hawaii capital way back when. Lots of historical buildings to pop in and out of. All the shops are the same. But there is Lappert’s ice cream. And I’m sure Tiki Dave told you about the shave ice place (not my favorite). Look for some original Maui Potato chips or Manju. Last chance to visit Hilo Hattie’s for your free shell necklace/free shuttle. Original Maui Divers and Pacific Whale Foundation are on Front Street. And watch for whales. https://www.pacificwhale.org/research/hawaii-wdt-sightings-map/
  9. @We_like_to_cruise I am enjoying your journey. Thank you for placing spacers between each photo. This way, I can savor each attraction. Hope you get your phone fixed. It’s a long way to an Apple Store (or other).
  10. Cruise mapper has her leaving Kauai and Bridge Cam has her going to Lahaina (US JHM). https://www.cruisemapper.com/?imo=9293399 https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:371317/mmsi:310500000/imo:9293399/vessel:CROWN_PRINCESS 3.1 m (meter/not feet) swells. It should be an interesting tender ride into Lahaina. Waiting for @arctickittyto give us her colorful description of the ride.
  11. You do not need to purchase any packages for your two little kids, but your account will still be debited for 2 additional crew appreciations (gratuities) per day. Some will tell you that you can remove that charge, but please keep in mind that the steward will be cleaning up for 4 each day. That includes all the linen change outs, fixed beds, glasses, and other tidying up......
  12. It will be interesting if the Crown makes a stop (and anchors) in Lahaina. You have small craft warnings until Friday. https://weather.com/weather/alerts/localalerts/l/1ac5e176d381bf6d47b60d639826072a13dd04cc48a8902ec1ef2379ef614f21?phenomena=SC&significance=Y&areaid=PHZ118&office=PHFO&etn=0008 Don't know where you would go since Kona would be a tender port too. Maybe you will luck out and have a sail by the NaPali Coast. I am so proud of you for trying surfing (the sport of the Ali'i). Now you should try a Big Wave...40 footer!
  13. On the Crown, the only cabins with a "lower" bed would be a mini with a couch that folds out. No need to look for a triple or quad. You will not be able to fit a roll away into an Ocean View room. It is the size of an interior with a window. Absolutely no extra room. You could get a triple/quad Ocean View and have an adult sleep in the upper bunk with twin bed configuration. Another option is to bring your own air bed. But that will take up a lot of room. You might be able to fit a junior blow up bed in the closet area. https://www.amazon.com/Inflatable-Leakproof-Reinforced-Protective-Sleepovers/dp/B08RRWLFKF/ref=asc_df_B08RRWLFKF/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475689955888&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17376339337082761469&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031067&hvtargid=pla-1210090850327&psc=1
  14. I wish they had Pepsi products. Only Coke. I still think the best option for Princess it to provide decent brewed coffee in the MDR and Buffet on their "lessor" ships. If they did it for the Royal Class ships, why can't the Grand have good coffee. I stopped drinking Iced Tea and coffee with my meals. I do order Lipton Lemon Tea in the MDR or just lemon slices and hot water.
  15. I just helped my sister complete her K-ETA application. 90 minutes via phone call (off and on). She wanted to complete it on her computer/website. I told her to download app....no, she can do it... I ended up filling everything out from my side of the world via computer. Until I got to photo upload. Back to sister. Send me the photo you took. Too big to be accepted. Back to, please download the app. At least all of the information I entered was still on the application. She downloaded the app. Somehow got her way back to her information (I know how, but can't give instructions). She took a photo...with the app. It took her several tries. Checked information. Paid...submitted. Email that application was completed. Email that her application was accepted. WHEW... Please download the app. Have your passport available. Format has changed (almost as often as the Medallion Class app changes). Fill in Maljil ro in box next to zip code. Hit search magnifying glass. Then search for zip code and 290 Maljil ro (page 15) for Jeju. It should pull up 62563
  16. All of my 2023 cruises (some outside of 90 days included) have had a 2-3 day turn around credit. Shocked to say the least. But happy.
  17. Just my opinion: There is not much of a "beach" in Lahaina Town. If you want a nice area, you need to head for a resort area. But I am speaking strictly from a "I am not a beach person" perspective. If you really want an ocean experience, look at a boat excursion to Molokini. Or hop a ferry to Lanai for the day.
  18. Tender lines for Lahaina are ridiculous (long, no shade, some water, no chairs). But as mentioned, getting off in the morning is slow (think 2500 passengers trying to disembark to a tender). Getting back early afternoon should be okay. Getting off again should be okay. Late afternoon is a zoo.
  19. Princess has never gathered on the Promenade deck. HAL, yes. Freezing cold and nowhere to sit except on the deck. I do miss watching those that don't listen to instructions: Wait until after the demonstration to try on jacket. Don't blow the whistle. Pick up the straps so not to trip over them. Embarkation entertainment.
  20. When I had my bilateral total knee replacementssss...I had a device that iced and compressed. It was like a small ice chest. I can't imagine taking that on a cruise with you. Glad you do have something that works when you travel. Did you get to the top of Leahi? I remember doing this in my not so younger days on unpaved path. If my friends had told me there were 99 steps at the end, I would never have started (they knew better). Was it worth it? No, there are youtube videos with great aerial shots. Plus I live there.
  21. Just checked with a friend who is doing a b2b on the Emerald. She said there is smell of smoke in the casino when she walks through. Not contradicting poster...But after 2 weeks, lingering smoke smell should have dissipated if there was no smoking on the Emerald.
  22. This is the first I've read that a Princess Ship (Emerald) has no smoking in the casino. Will this be a change moving forward? I hope so.
  23. Hawaii voyages are considered closed loop voyages. Yes, you can do this without a passport. Do your homework on what is and isn't accepted. Have good medical insurance in case you have to be med-vac from Ensenada (I'm always over prepared). Hope you get your passports back in time.
  24. Time to find a good Independent Travel Agent. I am sorry we are not allowed to share this information on Cruise Critic. I have had my agent for years...years...and we have never met. But she is very responsive by text/talk/email. Someday, I will meet her in person. @Steelers36...Do you realize you and I (and a few others) spend way too much time on the computer? You posted as I was typing.
  25. Thinking "outside" the box. Good suggestion. But, would it be just convenience or actually cheaper than purchasing Soda Package, Medallion Net with 50% discount, and crew appreciation for specific cabin category?
