  1. You didn't use them to skip lines? You should have just saved money and did Bella if all you wanted was hangers and pillows. You can get them there.
  2. Trust me, you'll love it. They can read you well. We aren't the type who have our butlers wipe our behinds and throw palm branches down when you walk. They are there when needed. It was amazing service for the price.
  3. Yes. If you don't have it right away, give it an hour or so. Then just check by the elevators. The vision is a tiny ship so you won't have to walk far. If you are tech savvy, use an airtag.
  4. I recently did a review on my December 28, 2023 MSC Divina YC sailing. I am D+ on RCCL and Diamond (the old black - aka highest level) on MSC. My husband ended up Gold. I don't know why I'm higher. My strong suggestion is to DO THE YC. But first do the status match. THEN book. Reason is you will get an extra 5 or 10% off which comes with gold status. We loved the YC so much we are just going to finish up the 4 cruises we have with Royal, the one with Celebrity plus 1 with NCL next month and are going to either sail on Windstar, Paul Gaughan or MSC YC if on the east coast or Europe moving forward. This is coming from 2 people who weren't sure they wanted a butler, don't drink a lot, don't like lying about pools all day, hate dressing up, ate in WJ almost everyday and used a cruise just for the ports. YC and the service really changed our views. And we have been in suites the last few times on Royal. The staff was so exceptionally nice and friendly everyday, everywhere. My favorite was how they knew I snuck in the gym off hours around 530sm but told gym attendant I was YC and to let me (i found this out the last day). And the bartender would have my coffee ready for me and a coke zero for my husband. When I left I was so sad because I had probably the best cruise. It was completely night and day from my suite experiences on Royal where the staff tend to cater to the pinnacles. My husband is a quiet guy who does his own thing and the staff actually got him to talk and share pictures and stories of our snorkeling excursions. On royal, we never had anyone really bother with us which was ok at the time, but you really notice the difference when you sail YC.
  5. If you really want to get away, try booking airbnb, vrbo or bed and breakfast in either Vieques or Culebra. Warning, these are rustic areas and you do need a rental car BUT both amazing unspoiled islands with fantastic snorkeling. We take puddle jumpers out of either Ceiba or San Juan.
  6. We were looking at probably the same excursion as you for our 12/28/24 Brilliance cruise. We did decide to use an outside vendor and do Uxmal plus a cenote because of the crowds. We have never made it to Chichen Itza and we will probably try again on a different cruise to Progreso as our port time (7-3) was too short of a window for an outside vendor plus we are going in between Christmas and NY which may be a busy time. If you do decide to do the cenote plus Chichen Itza, can you let us know how it was?
  7. Try Secret harbor. Much better snorkeling. Or if in Crown Bay, take ferry to water island.
  8. Since my kids are 21 through 33, they don't seem to be interested once they saw how much they would have to pay...😉
  9. We have done Carnival and Royal Caribbean with our kids. Will be doing MSC YC with daughter in June. Never have done Celebrity with the kids but wish I had. Here's why I would rather take kids on Celebrity. 1. Better and longer itineraries 2. No theme park in ship 3. Less catering to families and more so to travelers. 4. Less obsession with CocoCay for almost every itinerary from the east coast. I can't stand this place. My 5 kids have traveled with us for years going all over the US and Caribbean. They liked the cruise ship activities but they always loved the ports where we did "cool" things with the rental cars, boat rentals...etc... They never liked day passes at hotels for some reason. They were all pretty active and outgoing and had no problems with what we scheduled. I have showed them our pictures of the big Oasis class plus videos of Icon and asked would you guys have liked this? My one son said honestly he never remembered what the ship had when he was young, just the islands we went to. We have been on the smaller ships (carnival fantasy) which had I think 1 water slide, and on a sea day they just kept going down all day on the one slide. That's all they needed. They went to the kids clubs and had fun. I read a lot of parents posting on this site and others worried that their kids may not enjoy this ship or others because of activities. Honestly, being the parent of 5, you don't have to think the ship is Disney and you have to do this and that and be stressed because there's no laser tag or zip line. If the kids were with us instead of kid's club, we just said where do you guys want to hang out and do?, and that's what we did. If they liked the buffet for dinner one night, we went there. If they wanted to play mini golf for hours, we did that.
  10. People are in between cruises and bored.
  11. Because one group is plural and the other is not.
  12. What I do is Google it but put carnival in at the end of search text.
  13. I guess she is implying she uses her travel insurance for her asthma meds to the previous poster who doesn't buy any insurance. At least that's what I'm gathering.
  14. read the post she was responding to.
  15. They have had a problem recently in the past year or so of the government allowing non Roatan citizens in and these individuals apparently have made a lot of trash and don't take care of the properties they are squatting in. Regardless, yes, the port area is not like Cozumel or Costa Maya where the one person bought the land and made that particular port. Directly outside Roatans Coxen Hole port it is congested and crazy BUT it's mostly tour guides waiting when the ship first docks. Once you leave that area, there are some really beautiful spots and beaches. It definitely is not a place to walk around and shop directly outside but one of those taxi drivers will gladly bring you to a decent spot. As we have discovered in the past when we had a no show vendor once there.
  16. I find them the same. Purchases show on mine in the app. I use the website for the menus pre cruise on both. Drinks I wait until connected on both then look at the app as I see no need to look beforehand. I don't know what you mean by opening times. Upgrades can be done on website.
  17. ok. Same type of ship. If you like snorkeling both are fine. I'd pick whichever was cheaper overall. If close to same price, definitely the 8 day!
  18. Honestly there's not much of a difference between the ships. They are both vision class. I'd just focus on the ports more. I believe one sailing goes to the Bahamas plus cococay and others go to the roatan, belize, costa maya and Cozumel. Depends what you want honestly. If I was picking, I avoid Nassau and CocoCay as I just am not a big fan but I'm not you.
  19. Have to laugh at this one as when I was on my first MSC Divina sailing, the people who complained the most in the YC at the restaurant, at the concierge desk, in the pool deck were non American. Just a quick question. Are you from the northeast US?
  20. Try to see if hotel will allow you late check out. If not, it's much more comfortable waiting in hotel lobby for an hour then standing in a line possibly at the port.
  21. Well good for you. It must be amazing to never ask for anything not on a list.
