  1. Smeared???? I slice it and then cut off bites. I've also grilled champagne grapes. Oh, wait, I'm talking about seared foie not a pate', mousse, etc. It cooks in under a minute 🙂
  2. LOL. My husband wasn't THAT 'bad' but he gave it his best. He would also have some grilled shrimp and a lamb chop 🙂
  3. I have used the 'deal' yet but having looked at the menu I know that we won't either.
  4. Thanks. Just before Ukraine we were booked on a cruise where we would have spent two days in SP. I've little doubt that we won't get back.
  5. That's what I love about you. PS: We lived in SF a long time.
  6. Well, not at Chowhound 🙂 but yes. We have a favorite menudo place near Lake Tahoe that's just floating in tripe. And we used to have a favorite place in San Francisco who had the 'correct' birria...made with goat.
  7. I used to be on a now deceased called "Chowhound." We officially called ourselves Chowhounds. But now I just say "I'm pretty into food" 🙂 And thanks sincerely.
  8. Sorry. My point was that the cruise line banning them was extreme. But we don't have any idea of what led to that.
  9. And I would say to that cruise line "good riddance to bad rubbish." They've shown their bad side again. Buyer beware.
  10. I just wonder if, going forward, if more people will use credit card disputes.
  11. A chef friend recommended grilled peaches, when in season, to eat with foie. It's insanely perfect.
  12. I've done and do that but only once per jar. I feel like I take too much.
  13. And to be really silly, the recommendation is actually for Tom's Original chips.
  14. I will definitely use that approach with Bob. Reading that makes me want to run out to our local Caviar Store. (Yes, we have one here.)
  15. You, sir, have convinced me that Seaborn is going to be a must-do. I wonder if I would get tired of it. And I hope they have potato chips, that have become quite popular.
  16. Please tell me where you found that. That's allowed, isn't it? I'm not OPPOSED to saving money...and do it regularly 🙂
  17. When I worked for an intl airline and flew 'free,' one time we were seated rows and and rows apart. So what? It was a red-eye flight so at least I didn't have to listen to him snore.
  18. Same. My frugal Scotsman husband taught me an enormous amount about personal finances. We have always lived below our means...which now means we can do more.
  19. I finally learned that. We're not regular cruises and are 100% destination focused. So when we think of some place we want to visit - like the Northern Baltic - then we see if we can/should afford it. I can't think of any place we would visit more than once.
  20. So how far in advance should airlines have staff available for check-in? All the time? We've had this happen many times and it just is what it is.
  21. That is so, so good. My husband had the lobster tail so many times he said he needed to take a break. And he's not a huge eater.
  22. I was just going to mention that.
