  1. Yes, we have been on Koningsdam on Koningsdag. There was not so much of a big to do, but it was mentioned and there were a few Dutch treats on the menus.
  2. Guys, quick geography lesson.......Denmark is not Holland. Danish is not Dutch. HAL has no connection with Denmark. The ships are registered in Holland. The accession of the Danish monarchy has no relevance, so why would the captain of a Dutch registered ship mention it?
  3. It is only 5 miles from our home so we go there quite often for calories and therapy! We love it when the cruise ships are in Cobh and the tours are visiting Blarney. Lots of people to chat with.
  4. I just thought Iwould share some of today's fun. We decided to go to Blarney for a late lunch in the Woolen Mills. Usually we would share a Blarney beef stew with a side of fries and brown treacle bread, however they were sold out of stew so we shared a mild lamb curry with rice (with fries and treacle bread) and youngest DS had chicken and mushroom vol au vents with rice. Below is the curry. The vol au vents had been eaten before I got a photo 🙄 after lunch we did a bit of retail therapy and DS (who is home from Vancouver for the 4 weeks of Christmas 🙄) purchased a nice sweater for his gf back in Vancouver.
  5. There were a couple of special performances onboard this summer on either NSDM or Rotterdam. I will need to look back at noyes to see which. They did abiut 3 performances on world stage.
  6. Good afternoon to all from Cork. My weather App tells me that it is 9°c/48°f and partly cloudy. The app for our solar array says we are producing 2.8kw of power 👍 Thanks to all who contribute to the daily.
  7. Yes. There was a recent post on this forum regarding a change of port to overnight, and there was a restriction on access. Perhaps it was the Norbert Nieces thread?
  8. https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/4045-nieuw-statendam/ Plenty of room in 4045 obstructed view. Access to bathroom may be a problem with the step.
  9. 😁 Paddy McVmax (our leprechaun) became quite jealous of your Poohby Joe, so after a hastily convened family meeting (travel sub-committee) it was agreed that Paddy would appear online as our avatar only when we were traveling ( just like a royal pennant) or other major state occasions (eg St Patrick's Day 😉). For other day to day postings we agreed to use the cover of the HAL 150 year celebratory postage stamp. Mere humans must conform to the requests of their avatars.
  10. talk about going out on a limb! 😉
  11. Check your cruiselines air offer. For one way trans Atlantics they can be good value.
  12. you will be detained after class for not paying attention. 😁 please read posts #519/522 and then be prepared to answer questions.......🤣
  13. I will let you know how it goes. Hope to purchase it this week in an almost local store for a similar price to Amazon, when duty and vat on import are taken into consideration.
  14. Happy New Year to everyone from a damp Ireland. My new year resolution is to try to drop in here every day and at least say 'hello'. Hope everyone has a great day and year and life.
  15. Open to interpretation. His statement was which does not specifically say it was on a credit card, I considered it may have been OBC for use of the card etc. However having gooooogled I see that it is an annual credit.
  16. If your 'credit' is onboard credit then you will not be able to use it until you board the ship.
  17. Thanks! That is the one I had almost selected but I just wanted to get the higher opinion. Does it come with a travel bag? 😉 DW wants me to give up the laptop on travels and use a tablet, so I need a couple of gadgets to keep me occupied 😂
  18. Do you know if the Acqua Panna 6 x 1 litre bottles are subject to the mariner discount?
  19. here is the up to date Bus schedule https://www.buseireann.ie/inner.php?id=406&form-view-timetables-from=Cork+(Bus+Station+-+Parnell+Place)&form-view-timetables-to=Blarney+Village+(Woolen+Mills)&form-view-timetables-route=&form-view-timetables-submit=1
  20. Yes it is (relatively) easy. No it will not be too crowded except at peak commuter hours and school hours. The route has changed recently, due to road layout changes within Cork City. Take the train from Cobh (note spelling! pronounced 'Kov') to Cork Kent station. Then it is about a 20 minute walk to the bus stop at Patrick Street/Drawbridge Street. The bus takes about 30 minutes. From the St Annes Road bus stop it is a short walk to the castle entrance. For the return trip I suggest you visit Blarney Woolen Mills first and then pick up the bus outside the entrance to the mills. Get off the bus at Coburg Street stop and it is a straight walk to the train station, again 15/20 minutes. The train can be busy in the evenings with returning cruisers and commuters returning home, so be aware of your timings. Enjoy your visit.
  21. By any chance did you make an online 'Courtesy Hold'? I have checked a few bookings and if I had a courtesy hold in place then that becomes the initial Cancellation Fee date.
  22. The difference between speaking fluently and speaking fluidly! 😁
