Well, if the ship or crew are 200 years old, then yes.......but modern convention (150 years plus) is that 'port' replace 'larboard' to avoid confusion. Modern convention must have known that cruising was just about to happen 😁

Hopefully 'Information' Technology has progressed, however you never know when the visa waiver system will throw you a curved ball and the application take more time than anticipated.

Hi, welcome to Cruise Critic, cruising, and HAL 😊 First cruise can be a bit scary but we all had a first one. Have you downloaded the Navigator App from Playstore/App Store? It is usefull (but not a necessity) for menus, itinerary and What is On around the ship at various times. You will also receive a paper 'Daily Program' which gives you details of where and when various entertainment etc is open. Most important is to look at the times for food! The Dive Inn burger bar has been mentioned, but note that it closes early (maybe 6pm). I don't think you will find many people about the ship after 6pm wearing shorts etc, so throw something longer into your bag. Just keep asking questions! 😉

Basically similar, but with differences. I have a full set of the Northern European menus downloaded from Navigator app. They are all PDF's so I may play around with them and post to this thread over the next few days.

This is more than they seem to charge when I look at the website. How many in your party? However you didn't have an 'original quote' as you changed the routing (if I follow your post correctly). You had booked a transfer to FCO on disembarkation day and you changed it to Cruise Port to Hotel on disembarkation day and the Hotel to FCO on Disembark day +2. Also, they state that no prepayment is required so could you not just cancel the transfer to FCO and rebook the transfers that you required? Maybe you made the change at late notice and prices go higher, I really don't know. However, not showing up for the Hotel to FCO transfer is inexcusable. We use Stefano's Rome Cabs for all transfers. We tried a shuttle once and they left us waiting at the hotel for over an hour. Each time I called the agent said "five minutes". Lesson learned.

If your original plan was to be collected at the ship at end of cruise and taken to the airport, which you changed to Cruise port to hotel and then hotel to airport I would expect it to cost more.

What is a 14 day B2B? Is it a 14 day cruise with one booking number or is it 2 x 7 day cruises with two different booking numbers? If you booked it as 2 separate cruises and have 2 booking number (a true B2B) then there is no difficulty in just cancelling one of them. If it is a 14 day Collector (ie 2 x 7days cruises packaged together by HAL and sold as a 14 day cruise with one booking number, then you would need to contact HAL asap. I really doubt if you would get any financial consideration from them except the port fees and taxes as it is so close to departure. But phone them. No one here knows for sure. All we can do is express our opinion, which in reality, does not matter at all.

The bread pudding & sauce goes very well with a scoop of ice cream on the side. I usually go for a scoop of strawberry with it.

Until recently the security appointment was only available for intra schengen flights so no flights to USA where included. It may make a difference and it may not. It is just an extra layer of comfort if you need it.

Yes, AMS does have priority lanes for those flying at the pointy end. 😉 May is a lovely time to visit Ireland. I may even be in Cobh that day if we are back from our Nieuw Statendam cruise to the Canary Islands.

I believe that someone posted on a previous thread. Also there is no cruise listed for that period and I cannot find any charter. It may be a charter, but will probably only know after October 8th when I can check location on the tracker apps.

I would go with a taxi as the ship transfer is not the fastest to get loaded and away. Have a look at staxi.nl to prebook a taxi, they quote €66.50 for the trip from Cruise Terminal to the Airport for 8.00 am collection 2 people on October 7th. Probably not much more than 2x HAL transfers.

Unless you are offering more than a free MDR dinner, then join the line waiting for the information. 😁 (the comment about free MDR dinner is a joke, as posters are offering bribes (free MDR dinner, free room service breakfast - think about it!! 😉) for information as soon as the sailings are available to book).

If this question was directed at me, then I just sit for a couple of days trawling the internet looking for information. I have a base search of about 50 weblinks as the groups and charters mostly are repeat business and tend to stay with one or two cruiselines. Also searching for information about gaps in ship's sailing schedules can be interesting as sometimes I get really interesting 'hits' from some search engines.
