  1. I keep getting the port names mixed up….should call them by their real names and then I’ll remember them. Thanks for the info. 😊
  2. I believe you mean Fort Lauderdale and not Port Everglades. Isn’t Port Everglades the port East of Orlando?
  3. I wonder how this will affect testing when a cruise ship leaves from a non-US port, ie..Southampton….but ends in the US?
  4. Just heard that the CDC has pulled itself out of controlling cruise health/safety rules. Do you think that means that pre-cruise testing will end??
  5. Amazon.ca…..? Comes in various sizes…?
  6. Good for you for observing the sacrifice that so many made. Being from Ontario, you know what happens here in Canada. I also observe the ceremonies and stop what I’m doing to honour those that served, and are serving. You’re right, it is quite touching!
  7. The Maritime provinces have alot in beauty, history, interesting sites and calm. The people are very friendly and helpful. Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, near the Bay of Fundy is really pretty and more so in the Fall. There are the usual tourist sites like Peggy’s Cove and Sydney. Prince Edward Island has very pretty beaches, and is small enough to drive around in a day. New Brunswick has the Reversing Falls, and a big candy production in St. Stephan’s. You won’t be bored no matter where you go.
  8. Like most of the suggestions, I think you’d be better using Canadian currency, especially if you plan to only buy small items. I don’t know what cities you’re visiting and you don’t really want to spend your port time finding a bank or currency exchange business. The ship may well exchange your US dollars to Canadian currency. You could try your own banks at home, or a currency exchange service at the airport before you leave. Most places of business in Canada take Visa or Mastercard…American Express is iffy. Enjoy your trip!
  9. I’ve taken trains alot. I feel the room attendant is the person to tip. I really don’t feel that the kitchen staff and servers expect anything but compliments on their meals. The room attendant (I presume you will have a sleeper or bedroom) is the one who will make up your beds, morning and evening, have towels, water, coffee, etc and try to make your trip comfortable. What lacks in the viewing experience through Northern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan will be more than made up as you enter the foothills in Alberta. Hope your train has a dome car…sitting in that at night is breathtaking. Enjoy your trip!
  10. Yes, you are supposed to, one bottle per table. Be insistent if you see the server filling up everyone’s glass with the same bottle. We ended up with about 2” of wine and that was all. We were a table of 2. Next time I’ll ask the server to leave the bottle on the table.
  11. 🤣🤣. Yes, I dare say that we might be geek-related! But we’re organized, right!! I don’t laminate pages as I don’t have a laminator…but…that could be in my future and there’s always Staples! The binder for my next cruise is a 1-inch, and it is stuffed like a Christmas turkey…..I won’t stop printing and organizing until I know in my mind exactly what I’m planning and doing! And you got to run the projector?? No fair!! See you at sea, and if not, Enjoy!
  12. At one time I read that flowers could be brought on the ship as long as no soil or roots were attached. I’d like to bring flowers with me , so I will give it a try.
  13. Terrific! Enjoy your dinner, and cruise! 😊
  14. Good idea to take your receipt with you. I wouldn’t see any problems once you show that. You could always go to the Steakhouse once on board and verify with them as well. Keep checking your Planner as well, the reservation just might show up as promised.
  15. No, they don’t laugh at all. But if you think about the situation from his point of view…he doesn’t know who the child is or to whom he belongs. It does raise an interesting question. Who carries around one’s childrens’ birth certificates? How does a parent prove that the child is his/her’s? I used to cross the border frequently with my kids….back in the early 80’s, and nothing was even mentioned. Times have changed. Border guards did laugh back then if I recall..🤣
  16. Anyone do the Diamond museum? I found it compact and really enjoyable. It’s on a street perpendicular and close to the Rijksmuseum.
  17. Thank you! I plan to use Azova with the green test boxes if required in Nov. i should also ask, are the green test boxes okay to use in England? Would you know? TIA
  18. WOW…am I late to the party 🇨🇦🇨🇦 All your tributes are so wonderful and I echo your sentiments whole-heartedly!! My Canada, My Home 🇨🇦🇨🇦
  19. I sort of answered my own question….the BMO prepaid mastercard sucks. They charge 2.5% FTF on top of the daily currency exchange rate prescribed by mastercard international. They charge cash advance fees of $5.00 if you try to get your own cash from the card at an ATM. There’s an annual fee just to have the privilege of having a zero credit limit credit card. This is almost too funny. It’s a great card for paying anything that exceeds your actual credit card limit. I’ve used mine to pay for goods over $10,000…without a problem. Oh well…I guess I’ll make use of my HT card. I will take cash too.
  20. I bought a whole bunch of GBP and Euros in anticipation to my visit and cruise in November. Now I find out that merchants prefer credit cards. I prefer cash outside Canada just in case something goes wrong with the card. I have the BMO Prepaid Travel Card now called the BMO Prepaid Mastercard. How would I load foreign currency on it? I often transfer Canadian currency from my chequing account for super expensive purchases that go beyond the limit of my usual credit cards, without a problem. But I doubt that I can go to an ATM in London, UK and transfer anything to the card from my chequing account. Or do I exchange all my foreign currency back to Canadian dollars and load it on to the Travel Card from my chequing account? I’ll have to look to see if they charge all the foreign fees as if it’s a credit card. They actually do call it a credit card with zero credit limit…if you can believe that! I think it’s so they can charge cash advance fees if you transfer (your own) money off the card back into your own chequing account…and yes they do that! They didn’t while it was called a travel card. I do have the HT Visa card, so that’s a back-up. 😕
  21. Is it okay to use one’s iPad to do the proctored Covid test instead of the small cell phone? I just find it easier to see images on my iPad a whole lot easier than on the small screen of my cell phone. Also, the iPad can stand ‘up’ alot easier than the phone. TIA
  22. People do have the right to express their feelings, the staff has to determine if it’s justified or not to change the situation. I think the funniest situation I saw was when an older (70+) woman felt it was okay to place her cane on the table….someone did complain (not me)…and a staff member asked her to remove it. She grumbled, but she did. It wasn’t a funny, ha ha, type of situation…but funny interesting that she thought it was okay to place her cane across a tableclothed table. Maybe where she comes from, it is okay. Who knows.
  23. Complaining to whom? Of course RCI should enforce their own rules and so be it. I have seen ball caps being worn in the MDR….but I don’t complain to anyone. I don’t care for the look….but it seems that many do. Social graces have changed over the generations and there are as many of the ‘younger’ generation who judge the appearance of the ‘older’ generation as is the opposite. Expressing opinions isn’t complaining…I’m not perfect and haven’t walked a mile in anyone else’s shoes so I don’t have the right to complain…..but I am allowed an opinion. 😊
  24. LOL…I’m sure that someone would complain about something, there’s always THAT person! But at least I would feel that I am dressed appropriately for the dining venue. I don’t complain about what someone is wearing because I haven’t walked in their shoes….but when I see baseball hats, cut-off t-shirts, or even dresses that should have more fabric on them, I just raise my eyebrows…and carry on.
