  1. We have found that requesting things in advance does not necessarily work.We wait till we meet the room Steward and ask her or him .That always works. Enjoy your cruise.
  2. We have cruised to Central America about 20 times and never had a problem using US dollars.
  3. The only cruise line I was ever on that served Baked Apple was Carnival.Has anyone ever had it on a different line ?
  4. We have never taken our passports off a ship.
  5. I agree with you .I have written one. Last week I saw an interview with an American author. He was asked how many books he read in the last decade. He replied 50.That shocked me .
  6. I never went to a pro team opening night, however,I was at Opening day of Shea Stadium to see the METS.I do not have a tee shirt but I kept my ticket stub.My seat in the mezzanine cost $2.50. I have the stubs from every Mets game I went to as well as stubs from most of the concerts I went to dating back to the 1960โ€™s.
  7. We have different opinions.I could site the number of books written about the past, movies about the past but that would take us off topic.
  8. My days dining in the Gramercy Tavern began in the 1970โ€™s when it was not expensive to have a nice dinner.
  9. My best friend from HS developed an all Vegan Gelato which is sold in Trader Joeโ€™s and other grocery chains in the US.
  10. On nearly every cruise that we have been on with strangers after lengthy conversations we find that we share something in common.Example : A Professor from Penn State and I graduated the same HS.
  11. I would suggest calling the NYC Tourist Information office in Manhattan.
  12. My father came to the US in 1913 from Liverpool. It was not a cruise ship but it was an elite ship. The menu that he ordered from could easily have been a 2023 menu.Obviously I cannot know how the food tasted.
  13. I check in every day on my friend ,her 6 children and 21 grandchildren who live in Israel.I call her brother who lives in the US.
  14. We were on a Cunard ship in 1973 .There was only one dining room and the food was absolutely delicious.
  15. Yes,I erred in my initial post. Every time I see your screen name I am reminded of one of my former Dentists,Dr. Hirsh.๐Ÿ˜€
  16. For my better half and I the answer would be Cunard.
  17. I was responding to the individual who stated that the baggage handlers receive other benefits. In the instance I cited they do not nor do they need to because they receive benefits from their primary job.
  18. My days of cruising are over .My points of reference were solely about the past.I wish everyone happpy cruising .
  19. I gave $5 a bag to the people at the port putting the luggage on the ship. We always had a maximum of 2 suitcases and gave the Porter bringing the suitcases to the car $10.00.When I was physically able I brought my own luggage to the car. My definition is that the Porter takes luggage to oneโ€™s car and the Baggage Handler brings the luggage to the ship.
  20. I have no idea what that is but the last time I cruised from Bayonne I was in a wheelchair and a Porter was taking my bags no my wifeโ€™s to our car. We got into a conversation about his working there and he said that he was not a union member .Could he not have been telling me the truth ,possibly. However,on a cruise from Manhattan a few years before the Baggage Handler at the port had an ID .His rather unusual last name was the same as a guy I worked with 25 years prior and I inquired if he was possibly related. The guy was his father .The guy I was talking to was a school teacher working occasional Sundays at the port and not a Longshorenan .
  21. Correct but I was responding to someone about his comment .
