  1. The Spot might be a good option. Not sure what time the kitchen closes but it has several venues in one location. Rum Shack is upstairs and open until 1 pm. The Spot is open until 12 I think. Great atmosphere and good bar food and variety.
  2. Happy Anniversary to you! Permission to come aboard but wait......you are in OUR room. I have the seapass to prove it. Oh wait.....the dates are wrong. 😞 Have a great second leg. Freedom class is still our favorite class of ship!
  3. Hi Tim, we drove our VW ID4 from Dallas to Galveston. We researched chargers along the way and stopped twice for short charges- both around 15 minutes. Galveston had a few charging stations and actually our hotel Home2Suites by Hilton had several charging stations. There were some public ones around but they weren't really fast chargers. If you don't want to come in the night before, I suggest going down early and finding a charger that you can use before the cruise. There's probably plenty of options in FT L. We had to stop once on the way home to charge but again, only around 15 minutes. We used Electrify America chargers. Don't remember what the one at the hotel was called but it worked great and they had several. If there are Home2Suites in FtL, you might call and ask them if you can use their chargers. They are free to hotel guests but they might let the public use them for a fee.
  4. We stayed at Home 2 Suites in April. Nice and new and clean. huge room. great location. We are staying there again in November.
  5. Dickens on the Strand is that weekend so it will be a little busy. I would try to fly into Hobby - much closer. I would not book a hotel by either airport - Bush is pretty remote and Hobby is in a sketchy area. We've stayed at a new Home 2 Suites in Galveston - decent rates and great location. Galveston is pretty small so you can Uber around if needed - if you rent a car there is nowhere to drop it off on a Sunday so you would be paying for a week and also have to pay for parking. Probably easier to just Uber or Lyft. Royal does shuttle to and from both airports. We're on the week before you so we'll try to take care of the ship! πŸ™‚
  6. Have a great time - hope you get to enjoy a little bit of Galveston. May the slot gods smile upon you - it seems they like you a lot more than me. But I just keep trying. We are prime in casino so I just keep the liquid courage flowing. It helps to ease the pain!
  7. Glad you found The Spot. It's been our "spot" for 20 years pre-cruise. Once they built Rum Shack on the 2nd level, that's been our pre-cruise hang. The sampler is evil fried yumminess. πŸ™‚ Hope you're having a great cruise.
  8. tytan, they also have an outdoor grill if you want to go to kroger which is very close by and make your own hamburger and hot dogs etc - right by the pool. Plenty of nice outdoor seating. And plenty of indoor/outdoor seating for pizza too.
  9. Yeah, I hear ya. Some friends did the 9 day Radiance to Key West, CocoCay and Bimini and enjoyed it. I think they have some interesting itineraries coming up next year. Galveston is just so far out they have to do longer trips to get to a lot of ports. I'm with you on Costa Maya. Happily we really love Roatan and Cozumel - just hanging on the beach or in the water is my happy place. We're in Richardson so the airport is quite the drive for us.
  10. Always a pleasure to read your reviews. We just did Adventure a few weeks ago and I agree with you - the smaller ships are still something special. We prefer Galveston to avoid the flying hassle and I'm so glad they are rotating Voyager class ships out of the port. We're eyeing Mariner after we do Harmony this fall. Thanks for always taking us along!
  11. tytan - the port is about 10 minutes away so your best bet is a cab or service. Yes there are plenty of food options. There's a pizza place right next door. The Spot is down the street - several different venues - burgers/sandwiches/bar food.
  12. Dalsal, we stayed at Home 2 Suites last month. New hotel on Seawall, very clean, big rooms. Less than $200 a night.
  13. Beautiful pic of the fort. Been too long since we've cruised to San Juan, we've always enjoyed it there.
  14. More more more. Thanks for taking us along. Beware - once you experience the suite life on an Oasis class, there is no way to go less. We are GS lovers but there is no way I would do less on that class. The suite sundeck and CK are lifesavers.
  15. We always stay on the Seawall. Plenty of bars and restaurants there and you are literally across from the beach. The Strand is only 10 minutes away. There is a CVS on Broadway ( the main street) that is probably halfway between the Seawall and the Strand. There is a great Kroger on the Seawall not too far from the Hilton.
  16. I am in awe of those of that can mix all those drinks in one day. I have to stick with one thing only or I pay a terrible price. Have a great day in Roatan - one of my favorite ports. We loved it so much on cruises we stayed there last year for a week. Infinity Bay on West Bay is fantastic.
  17. As stated, yes we normally get the email. We always sail in GS. But I like having it for the times that I don't get it. Last cruise on Harmony, not only did I never get it but when I emailed them and asked them to forward it, they replied to me but I still never got the forwarded email. So.....hence the request. πŸ™‚ I'll plan on AD_concierge@rccl.com. Have a few more weeks but like being prepared.
  18. Hi Bandit, yep, I know they will. However, it has been hit or miss on whether we get it or not. Seems to happen about 50% of the time and it's been the same email for 23 years. πŸ™‚ Wanted to have it handy in case I need to reach out to them. I'm guessing Adventure's code is AD.
  19. Yes I tried the search function. Could not find the long running Concierge thread. If anyone knows the current Adventure Suite Concierge and/or the email for them, please let me know. thanks!
  20. We were on Harmony over Halloween and we just took our drinks to the dinner table. If it's during the 3 hour cocktail hour, the drinks would be free. The 11-11 wine/beer option is only available on Oasis class and Quantum. Happy hour only on Freedom/Voyager/Radiance classes etc.
  21. Thanks for taking us along. We were onboard last Halloween. Elaine was lovely, very helpful - always greeted us with a smile. I know food is subjective but I will say that we have been big fans of Sabor in the past - always went once, sometimes twice on other ships. Our group of 8 last fall were terribly disappointed. Guacamole was tasteless and runny and the meals were uniformly blah. Having had probably 8 Sabor meals in the past, this was a big surprise. NO ONE had a good meal. I think there is a reason they are phasing Sabor out and they simply don't seem to try anymore. FWIW, I wouldn't waste a meal there when you have CK as such a great option. We did hibachi at Izumi and it was fantastic although they have gone insane on the pricing. Have a great time!
  22. Thanks for taking us along. Loved the Roatan pics. It's our fave port and we always go to West Bay. Did Bananarama many times but have switched to Infinity. In fact, we spent a week there last spring. Roatan is just amazing and yes the coconut shrimp at Beachers is great.
  23. We were on her over Halloween and ship looked great. I would replace Sabor though. We are fans of Sabor but I have to say, our party of 8 had a terrible dinner there. probably time to make it a Playmakers.
  24. But Biker (she says with a whine), I want to play NOW!🀣 And yes you're right! Thanks Hicks!
