How does the food compare?

There are no Formal nights on Oceania although there were a few men in Sports Coats. I will bribing one next time but not necessary.

Maybe some people are too busy

The point being that after loving the Princess for 25 cruises he was so unhappy with the new normal he switched to Oceania. I have done the same. It is hard to give up your beloved cruise line until you realize they are no longer a special experience.

There is pent up demand for cruising. Many have yet to experience the new normal.Lets see how full the ships are in 2024 with bad food and poor service and high prices. I have 25 cruises on Princess. The last one was awful. Poor food small portions and awful service. Wont cruise with Princess again. Mega ships not for me. Just took wonderful Oceania cruise. Likely will stay thereafter reading that Celebrity has copied Princess. My one Celebrity cruise in 2022 was great l Thatwas then . This is now. You have to be open to new cruise lines.

Oceania or Viking.

I thought the food in the main dining room was better than aqua on my 2021 cruise.

Since Many here have never cruised Viking, we would not know.

Looks terrible. Like Princess yet the mega ships say bookings are off the charts. That 7000 person monstrosity is heavily booked, so they say, even though it wont sail for 7 months. so what are people looking for? Water slides and Disneyland on water? No one cruising mass market lines care about all the cut backs? My guess is after all these first timers and returnees experience the new normal book-ins in 2024 will tank. But what do I know?

What is that? I hate all these abbreviations . How hard is it to spell something out?

Going on my first Viking Cruise March 20. The way the people who we're supposed to leave today are being treated does not make me want to take moreViking cruises This is more expensive than Oceania not some cut rate cruise. I would expect the cruise to be pro rated for the loss of days. I am watching this closely.what they are offering these people is laughable . All that being said, we booked later to avoid bad weather. We will see.

Has this happened often?

These alternate restaurants are over rated i prefer the Dining room. Didnt even try. Been on princess, Oceania and Celebrity and wished I stayed in the dining room. Poorer service . Poorer food. I may try Manfredis if something opens but dont really care. there is no way I can sit through a three hour dinner while being served small bites every 20 minutes. That was a friends experience .no thanks.

I hope that doesnt happen to us on March 20 cruise.

Are you docking on monday?

The problem booking your own is when the ship leaves from one port and ends in another. Then you are forced to buy two one-way tickets,unless the airline will do multi. on March 20 cruise we go on Klm and back on British air. Not sure how that would work booking your own.

Elite on Princess. Also left be cause of bad food and mega ships. Loved Oceania, especially Sirena They have sommeliers that know what they are doing. Service is better.no comparison. We are done with Princess. Cruise over Thanksgiving was real bad.

There must be a major problem with the system which entails a lot of money to fix. Either that or they don't care.

Upgrade?

I know they can wait until the pier but what is the normal timeline? First time on Viking.

Cost is prohibitive from the US. I looked at it. Especially since free luggage when flying business.
