  1. Well said! To those who have never witnessed these people who turn up on Chic night in shorts, it happens I have seen this on a few Celebrity cruises.Last time was 3 weeks ago and heard from a staff member that they don’t turn anyone away! Not so long ago I remember even someone who’s luggage had gone missing they were turned away and would have to go to the buffet, but that was the rules.
  2. hcat, agree with this.On our recent cruises last month, we ate in the buffet at night for the first time in over 30 celebrity cruises, because the MDR food wasn’t to our liking. We always dress up for to go out at home and enjoy sitting in a restaurant and being seved.19 nights on board we did 4 speciality, 4 times in the main dinning and the rest of our dinners were in the buffet.Hope next time on Celebrity they sort the menus out in MDR.
  3. Well put on a few pounds coz we were eating food we would class as junk at home! I found the MDR menus poor, Even on the dress up nights, the food was to me rubbish. Our 32nd celebrity cruise and I now think the food is no better than Royal and NCL. But hey! Still had a lovely time but for the price, will after the cruises with Celebrity we have booked do more holidays in the med just enjoying fresh well cooked food. I would not eat the frozen seafood at home and that awful fish they serve in the buffet! Flank steak what is that? Never had that back home. But still love the Celebrity ships S class and M class, best staff ever!
  4. So agree, we have also tried other brands in the last year and as much as I still love Celebrity the food cut backs are real!
  5. Well a room attendant doing so many rooms! That’s not good, but why are we paying so much more for our cruises,Celebrity are not looking after us very loyal members.
  6. Might have been us not having a drink package! But hey had lots of OBC so didn’t rack up much of a bill just the extra tips. A glass of wine and a wee bottle of beer came to 28usd that’s with the extra tax,
  7. Just off Celebrity cruise, we didn’t have a drink package and were charged the tax on leaving Barcelona on drinks purchased this was only in Spanish waters, Purchases from the shops we paid tax on the first cruise( Barcelona to Italy) Then on our consecutive cruise from Italy back to Barcelona via Greece and Malta we were again charged 21% tax on gifts from the shops. On NCL in November Barcelona to Italy and expecting to pay tax on the free at sea drinks.Gratuity I’ve prepaid hope they are not adding extra to that too!
  8. Sorry, but we have just been on the Reflection for 19 nights and found the food in the main dinning room very disappointing, buffet at night had more choice and we paid for specialty restaurants on quite a few occasions. We always do b2b as we like longer cruises, I have 2 of these booked for next year with Celebrity and hope things improve regarding food. Service around the ship was as good as ever,we had a few minor issues with the room attendant ( no towels one day just two face cloths😂) There was no hairdryer in the room and because I didn’t check I washed my wavy hair and dried it outside.Left him a note and he brought one the next day.Room wasn’t serviced until afternoon most days and we are early risers, I wonder if these guys are having to do more rooms than before! Have been trying other lines and will continue to do so.
  9. Not in the MDR Jim,I often used to order the filet from the kids menu.It wasn’t available on our b2b earlier this month. The fish most nights was just the salmon that’s always available, this was also one of my usual choices had it once on each cruise and it was over cooked!
  10. Couldn’t believe the downgrading of the MDR menu on our cruises earlier this month,Same ship last September the food was as good as before the shutdown. But we went to the buffet some nights and that seemed to have improved,Ate out at the speciality restaurants a few times and they were good but price seems to of climbed.
  11. Have been invited lots of times usually give it a miss, last cruise which we have just returned from we attended it was out of Greece and a beautiful day, the week before( we were b2b) We got the invite but didn’t bother. Not sure if it’s Captains club status or the fact most of our cruises are back to backs. But definitely nothing to do with staterooms are these cruises we were in inside cabins.
  12. Just off Relection on for 19nights, the menu in the main dinning room was poor! The starters some nights were awful to me, I hate snails don’t eat frozen shrimp and cant stand onion soup. So we did more speciality restaurants and went to the buffet! I’ve 2 back to backs booked with Celebrity next year but will travelling on other lines as well. Shame as Celebrity was always our first choice.
  13. Will do, seems they listened to the complaints on the buffet at dinner and have improved!
  14. Hi tomorrow will be change over day after 9 nights from Barcelona to Civitavecchia. so far we have had lovely weather everyday, the staff have been amazing as always.Food in the MDR has been a bit disappointing, never have I seen so many in the buffet at night! We have had two speciality meals this cruise and enjoyed them.Tried the buffet for dinner last night because the menu in the main dinning room wasn’t to our liking.Well there was lots of choice including a Portuguese themed offerings and plenty of other things,it was so good might go again tonight, because the menu in Opus there wasn’t one thing I would pick.Shame they have cut this back even on the Chic nights .nothing special on them. Good thing was rib of beef was on early in the cruise.Looking forward to the next leg 10 nts towards Greek islands and Malta, then back to Barcelona.Still got 6 Celebrity cruises booked for 2024, but also a couple of other brands booked! Dianne
  15. On Relection at the moment, first part of b2b.MDR food as been ok but less choice than in the past.Staff have been lovely as usual, Fizzy wine was available on embarking in a number of bars complimentary from what I saw. Still having a great time so far.Weather has been glorious and hope it stays that way, entertainment is varied. Dianne
  16. You are so right in my opinion! I cook good quality food at home,I expect at least the food I eat on holiday will be on par but hopefully better!
  17. Have only sailed on Oceania for the first time in June, we were on one of the small ships in a regular balcony.Shower was so cramped and both Hubby and me are slight built! Don’t know how a large person would manage. We had a lovely time though, but for me it’s unusual to not book a future cruise while onboard.
  18. Would agree with your comment on Oceania! We tried them a few months ago and don’t think we will cruise with them again.Entertainment was so old fashioned. Food was good but the price was a good bit more expensive, and that tiny bathroom was the smallest I’ve experienced lol
  19. This was the case Keith on our cruise from Lisbon this March, Only charged the tax in Malaga and Cadiz.Canaries were not taxed.
  20. Yea was never a fan of the sparkling wine, but it was a nice gesture to welcome guests onboard!
  21. For us it’s about the value for money! Up to now we have had the pleasure of ove 50 cruises and have enjoyed ourselves on all,I used to book most with Celebrity and still do enjoy sailing with them but NCL have been good price wise and we have been booking them quite regularly. We prefer to sail in the Mediterranean with short flights and add a few nights at the start and end of the cruise.Long haul flights we have done in the past. But now we are retired and cruising just the two of us.Life is good to be able to travel, BonVoyage,Dianne
