  1. I don’t know, the $18 drink package was up and running for at least a day and a half (during the week, NOT weekend) before they pulled it down.
  2. No, you didn't HAVE to, you could have checked out just one, everyone else has
  3. It makes even less financial sense at $89 per day
  4. It was unclear that the time constraints you initially posted were tied to a rental period. I don't feel my answer was "ignorant" but rather focused on the information you provided. You're welcome
  5. It is just as true today as it has ever been. The opportunities available to EVERYONE in the USA are as plentiful now as they ever were, and are more plentiful than most other countries in the world. What has changed is the willingness for many Americans to make the sacrifices necessary to exploit this opportunities. Many citizens "want it all, and want it now"
  6. I was on mid February. We were able to get Bulleitt, and Buffalo Trace just about everywhere. Makers mark was a little harder to find but about 75% of the bars had it.
  7. Never have, and seems a hassle. I don’t know what time limit you are referring to, the ship’s departing time kinda controls all of that.
  8. Behind the scenes personnel are not tipped positions in my world. I handle those I have personal contact with, everyone else is on a salary, and that’s between them and their employer
  9. The minimum wage in the US is intended for school age children doing after school work; it isn’t a “living wage”. If one wants more, then one needs to do what is necessary to acquire a higher paying job. There is no shortage of opportunities.
  10. Got it I wrongly assumed we were discussing the crew as a whole. I maintain my W-2 stance; it would be hard to have such a structured scheduling system with 1099, independent contractors are generally afforded greater flexibility than would be allowed on board.
  11. I believe viewing the non-American crew through the lens used for an American crew member is folly. The non-American crew would not receive W-2 nor 1099; nor would they be governed by the rules you very accurately lay out above with regards to benefits and compensation.
  12. As a business owner employing a full staff at multiple locations, I can not imagine any reason Royal would employ 1099 ICs, there is a large tax advantage to having those employees as a W-2, just as I am sure all the employees working in the Miami headquarters. Just my 2 cents.
  13. I believe the author received a W-2 because she is a US citizen. Residents of countries other than the US wouldn’t receive any IRS documentation, but instead would receive the appropriate documentation of the taxing authority in their home country.
  14. This page sheds some light https://lifeofiris.com/2022/02/27/do-cruise-ship-crew-pay-taxes/
  15. “Regular” toilet tissue from home makes no difference in the vacuum toilet systems on a cruise ship. The paper breaks down in much the same way as the cheap stuff. @chengkp75can confirm.
  16. This is in direct contradiction to the statement put out by the cruise-line.
  17. Gotcha. Too many nuances for me to keep track of; hence my admiration for my travel agent.
  18. My apologies, I read it as he is past 90 days since booking. If the booking is within final payment, aren't price drops off the table as per contract? Maybe this doesn't fall under the price drop verbiage.
  19. If it’s important to you cancel your booking and eat the $100 fee and rebook. They are not going to honor the new booking price on an upgrade, unfortunately. This happens all the time it’s old news.
  20. And how would anyone know the age of the person using the app? This is between a parent and their child no one else has any say
