  1. Ewwww.Didn't think of that! I doubt our cabin choice would have been available anyway on the original Maiden/new one. Can't see Mr and Mrs Ordinary getting a 1 or a 2 when there are VIPs and 'Celebs' to accommodate. Fingers crossed then, the Maiden doesn't get pushed back. 🙂
  2. Having booked this one when we couldn't fit the original Maiden into our plans, wouldn't it be a hoot if the Maiden was pushed back a week!🙂
  3. Looks absolutely delicious, as is a Cod Fish Finger Sandwich, neither of which can remotely be compared to one another! 😁 and as I have had only one CFFS in the last year and am now experiencing immediate severe withdrawal symptoms, I will put my order in for one on holiday! 👍
  4. but tastier and tastier!😄
  5. Well there you go. I always knew I had pleb tastes although I don't suppose the fish monger I get my 'fingers' from would be too happy calling his Cod Fingers, pleb!. The bread is wholemeal. Would that count to being a bit healthier! 🤣 I might even ask for them for lunch on our next cruise. Very off piste Queens Grill! 😁
  6. FISH Finger grilled sandwiches and chips. Add tarter sauce or smokehouse ketchup as a dip and ...yummy! 🙂
  7. We too have cruised Alaska and on the last one, our son had an inside opposite our suite. If pennies are an issue, I would leave the booking as it stands. They can always share your view. If you can splurge a bit, it might be a once in a lifetime destination for your mother and I would go for two balconies.
  8. No, you're not overthinking. You want to 'get it right' and the absolute truth is, auto grats cover it all but, and there's often a but isn't there, if you want to add extra it is entirely between you and any staff member you wish to 'reward'. Don't listen to any onboard chat [if you do hear any] or any comments about how much will be given extra; It is personal and up to each individual. May I suggest though, if you do want to give a small token, use a major currency. Roubles and the Manet for instance are a tad too country specific🙂
  9. Apart from wanting basic info on cabins before we booked, I can't change anything re ship's layout so any mild curiosity can wait until I can experience it all in person. Must arrange a meet up. 🙂
  10. Very kind. We were offered a 5 initially pre release and Cunard did come back when I said thanks but no thanks and asked what grade we'd like [a 1 or a 2] but as the original Maiden date didn't suit, you'll have to party on without us on the new Maiden date. 🙂
  11. Turned down Cunard's offer of a cabin on the original Maiden date and we're looking forward to the cruise immediately after the new Maiden, decent Promenade deck or not. 🙂
  12. and having been onboard QV Sept '19 when advertising shots of the beautiful people were being filmed I can categorically say these were set up with great precision. They of course were mirroring real life onboard. Not! 😄
  13. We have twice done the reverse twice and then on to Southampton as part of the World cruise. Both were on the wonderful Queen Victoria, the ship we call our second home. It's been nine months since we last sailed with her and we can't wait to join her again.
  14. It will be interesting to see if our views are similar.
  15. Or expediency as the scoop had gone walkabout! 😄
  16. I'd go for sunrise. As one who likes a cool cabin when changing for dinner, sunset, especially in the tropics can help to make the cabin very warm early evening.
  17. You will be fine using a wheelchair on deck six or any deck for that matter. I would also add don't worry about any noise as far as lifts are concerned. We regularly pick cabins directly behind them and have never had a problem with noise, passenger or actual lifts.
  18. We have used a wheelchair on deck six many times and it's no problem as long as no one leaves a pushchair etc outside their cabin. The room attendants 'trolleys' are narrow enough to allow wheelchairs to pass.
  19. Apart from acquaintances made onboard over the years, I don't have many friends who cruise, and those who do, don't cruise with Cunard so can't give an opinion on that but to fill all four Cunard ships on all itineraries would be a heck of an undertaking for fellow CC members, friends and acquaintances.
  20. I agree. It would seem on the face of it, Cunard tweaks don't seem to have had a negative effect. Itineraries are getting booked up too so moving forward, it would again seem the tweaks haven't had a negative effect. Could be the regulars are saying s7d it, we'll keep up traditions and it could also mean newbies are giving the line a tryout. Either way, the ceiling has not yet collapsed on Cunard due to the relaxing of their dress code.
  21. The general consensus here, but we are but a small number of Cunard passengers. There must be some underlying reason for the changes.
  22. I too would be happy for more formals but I'm in the 'happy to see the line continuing to attract enough passengers in order to keep the line going' side of the of Cunard regulars' fence and if that means cutting the number of formals in order to do so, along with any non jacket furore, then I'm content with that side of the fence.
  23. I love the formal nights and would be happy to have two a week/four a fortnight etc. I follow my 'two' rule for evening wear. Formal [usually a long dress but not a casual maxi or an ultra formal gown] and 'other' which would probably have been deemed 'semi formal' in the past. Mind you, during the day, I'm a scruffy mutt as I wear jeans, long or cut offs, white or blue denim. 😄
