  1. Cruise lines don't usually show much compassion or loyalty. They don't operate like Apple. However it does not hurt to ask.
  2. Well my friend was billed $60,000 for medical care by the cruise line. Was happy that the insurance covered it. My main reason for buying insurance is medical evacuation coverage. That could run $100,000.
  3. I was thinking the same as you or that they the type who won’t admit publicly they are wrong but will get a passport.
  4. Carnival recently issued an advisory to remind their guests to behave as result of an increase in disturbances.
  5. First of all you are linking to a website in India which is not at all official and is not always accurate. They exist for the clicks. Somehow they have worked the system and managed to get to the top of google searches. If you read the official goverment website that njhorseman linked to it says there is a $50 personal allowance and I doubt anyone bringing packaged snacks will go over that. https://www.gov.bm/duty-free-allowances The other site that njhorseman linked to is not official but is accurate. Having been to Bermuda many times what the governmant is interested in is agricultural products. Don't bring oranges, apples or bananas from the ship. Don't make a sandwich.
  6. The government does get records of of bank deposits over a certain amount. If someone has large income not reported it could get noticed unless they keepit in a mattress. Probably the porters report some of the tip income.
  7. Probably in the Need Help Using the Forums? forum. LOL.
  8. Well almost. They are not Teamsters. The port workers are longshoreman.
  9. Unfortunately both the glass blowing shop and the rum cake shop have closed at the Dockyard. The rum cake company has opened a shop in Washington Mall in Hamilton.
  10. I would have tipped the shuttle driver and the baggage handler at the port as they were the one to put the baggage onboard the ship. A tip is optional though to either. If you want to follow up and complain about the threat you should complain to the Port of Miami. You were interacting with their employee. RCI seeing the pictures probably won’t accomplish much as they don’t work for RCI.
  11. One shop where I have seen Christmas ornaments is the Bermuda Craft Market in the Cooperage building at the Dockyard. That is the same building where the Frog and Onion is located. In the Clocktower Mall at the Dockyard there are shops and I have seen ornaments but I don’t recall a specific shop.
  12. Your only option near the Dockyard is Dive Bermuda in Somerset. The other dive shop is going to be on the other end of Bermuda. You will have to contact them to see if they can accommodate those hours. I think from that location the do a shipwreck dive. https://www.bermudascubasomerset.com/home
  13. It isn not closed loop. It starts in one US port and ends in another. Has nothing to do with NCL. A passport book is required. Read the link from CBP you posted.
  14. It is not a closed loop cruise so a passport is required. They won't be allowed to board without a passport.
  15. That is exactly what happens. On a cruise 15 years ago one teen started heckling a singer not because she was bad but because it was opera. The other nine teens joined in. There were no adults with them at the show. If the teens were not a pack it would not have happened. It only takes one who wants to show off.
  16. The same has een happening since I started cruising in 1996.it has not changed. When there are a large number of teens onboard they gang together. As for the parents they let the teens have the run of the ship.. That is whay I avoid Caribbean cruises at spring break times and the summer. This is nothing new.
  17. Water temp is relative. To me it is cool at the end of May but I can adjust to it after 30 seconds. The Swizzle Inn is not a short distance from the Dockyard. It is on the other end of the island. A long distance either by bus or taxi. The shortest way to ge there is a ferry to St. George (45 minutes) then a taxi or bus. (another 15 minutes)
  18. The app is a phone app which Celebrity does nothing to make it work on a tablet or not work on a tablet because they consider it a phone app. . So upadating does not fix it. Might actually break it on older tablets. Some have figured out a workaround which was mentioned a few posts back which is basicly sideloading the app using the smartswitch app. .
  19. Notice that what you quoted from Princess says a valid passport book. Nothing about six months after. In OP's post OP seems to say the friends have passport books expiring in August.
  20. It is not a given. In North America for most itineraries you don’t need 6 months left. For most closed loop itineraries to the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda a passport is not required. Closed loop does not mean start and end in the US like the April 1 sailing. Closed loop means start and end at the same US port which the April 1 sailing does not. The key word is “most”. There are exceptions. We the cruise passengers are responsible for knowing what documents are required. The cruise lines confuse things by being vague and saying recommended. While it is possible the must have six months is boilerplate and not true (the US does not require 6 months) I would not count on it. They don’t usually say must like for the Panama sailing. I can see why this sailing might have different requirements. Cartagena, Columbia for example is in South America. So while this sailing was not closed loop even if it were closed loop a passport would have been required.
  21. There were no super mega cruise ships for most of those those hundreds of years. Because of whale strikes by large ships a voluntary agreement was made to limit speed to protect whales. If they don’t limit speed voluntarily the lower speeds will probably become mandatory. Perhaps some don’t think whales need to be protected but that would be another topic. There was nothing suspicious about the change of itinerary. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/investigations/cruises-ships-break-speed-limit-protect-whales/3089966/
  22. Whether you call it a waiver or emergency passport it is the same thing. Some US government official will have to approve it. Any airline will demand documentation. In general the odds of something happening are low but when someone is 89 that changes the odds. They are at higher risk. Her cost for travel insurance will be higher too because of her age. I hope they don’t skip that. This situation is different from when people post their cruise is in two or four weeks and they didn’t notice their passport was expired or can’t find it. The cruise is in November. They should get a passport.
  23. I have the thick book too. But Covid really cut my travel plans so the pages won't be used before the next renewal. The only port on a cruise that examined my passport was Russia. But i have had it stamped many places traveling on land vacations and pre amd post cruise. Even though the ports don''t examine the passport book, the cruise lines examine it for the ports. Also the cruise line can make any requirement they want even if the ports don't require 6 months. Princess saying "must" is not unambiguous. Usually they say recommended which means you don't have to have six months.
  24. I think a day pass at a hotel makes the most sense as most airport lounges are inside the security gates.
  25. Most cruises in the western hemisphere 6 months is not required. This cruise happens to be one of the few exceptions.
