  1. Covid, the economy in general, war, and fuel prices may result in the Royal Carnival Line soon with a lot less ships and much higher prices.
  2. Right, that is why I give a small tip, not with every soda but at least a few times a day.
  3. I pay my auto-tips and then give extra tips at the end- sometimes in cash and sometime on my account. And from time to time give a little cash for soda since I get the bubbles package.
  4. How many people actually tip cash? When I sail next week, I am going to do an observational study and see how many cash tips I can observe by the pool bars during a busy seaday afternoon.
  5. John Heald has said many times that cash tips are not pool and are retained by the employee.
  6. IF you are happy with the other lines, then why bother with Carnival?
  7. One time I got a free cruise from a time share company, it cost me $1500.00.
  8. In our experience the pools were opened when we board but water works was not until around sailing time. When our child was younger, she wore a swimsuit under her clothes and when we boarded, we found a place by the pool and she jumped in. Enjoy
  9. As covid positive person could have their trip covered by insurance and/or Carnival while a no show is out the price of the cruise.
  10. Wow, I am glad so few people eat at the buffet now, I am sure there will not be a line when I sail in 12 days! I like the crab cakes!
  11. Anything is possible but likely if it is booked it will not be open unless you are lucky. Once we were gifted a cabana when an elderly couple we meet decided it was too cool to go ashore so they gave us the cabana.
  12. I have sailed on the Elation twice and really enjoyed it. She is small compared to the 21st century monster ships but she me she is the right size. It depends on what you are wanting out of a cruise.
  13. I spoke to them the other day, it appears they are pushing the all-inclusive package although they are still offering the pay as you go option as available. They told me to call on the morning we port but since ours in two week, he felt they would be full. Hopefully, in October you will have better luck.
  14. Thankfully most travel agents provide excellent service. When I have put a down payment with Carnival then ask if I want email alerts plus I set up my own alerts of important dates.
  15. Right, I did use a debt card by mistake. I bought some items for the cruise with a debt card and somehow that was linked to my onboard account. Thankfully, it did not cause a problem and my account was square the day the cruise ended. In general, I would use a credit card since it is better to travel on somebody else money and then settle up later.
  16. I have never had a problem with a debt card but it is always important to know what is in your account and to have ample fund available plus an emergency fund before someone cruise.
  17. Thanks for the information, I have never ben double billed by Carnival but I have at other times, thankfully, my credit card company is on the lookout for this and lets me know and removes the charges.
  18. How does document of recovery become a certificate of recovery? The Carnival website says "A Document of Recovery is accepted from both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated guests (with a Carnival-approved exemption) and consists of a paper or electronic copy of the positive viral test result from a certified laboratory (dated no more than 90 days prior to the sailing date).
  19. Thankfully, Carnival cruise ship rarely make Sunday ports of call but it is also sad that the US government will not help it own people.
  20. A agree, I have had a passport since I was a college student but most cruisers do not want to put out the money.
  21. The cruise lines will never require passports since many if not most cruise passengers will never travel overseas except on a cruise and they view it as an unnecessary expense. So a passport requirement would greatly reduce the number of potential passengers.
  22. Right but in life and death situation the state department makes exceptions. I agree having a passport is the best option, but some people take a gamble that they will not need the passport.
  23. You are right getting a passport for a child is a headache. We got an apartment at the local post office but I could not get work in time so I had to have a notarized form giving my spouse permission to apply for the passport. Since we had the expired passport we did not have to have the birth certificate. The five year time frame is unfair since it cost the same as the adult passport.
