  1. I too worked my way up to elite plus and celebrity is losing me as well as the 2 other couples we always travel with. If you are an old celebrity cruiser you know what it use to be like, new celebrity cruisers I’m sure think they are fantastic, the ships are beautiful. They do not realize the food cutbacks, the extra charges for everything. They know no better. It’s really sad what’s happening I will miss the older days I’ve had with celebrity. my last two cruises with them this past Jan and again in Feb. the food was edible but no steaks or prime rib, I don’t even get the lobster on lobster night anymore. The service was lacking. The drinks? We never had a drink made the same way twice, some drinks were so bad we left them without drinking, what waste….if they would train the employees better maybe they would save some money there. I will probably never go to le petite chef again, our first few times it was delicious steak and lobster, this past time short ribs (tasted like stew meat) for the price they charge no thank you, I really do not mean to sound snarky but I’m so saddened by the route they are taking. I will always stand by the beauty of their ships though and the staterooms are so well thought out. I have a b2b booked this coming January so we shall see, three times you’re out.
  2. Just got off her in June and I loved her. The ship was clean the service good, and the staff were great. Food was way better than celebrity. Only complaint the buffet is so crowded it’s sometimes impossible to find a table. Enjoy!
  3. Covid affected the whole world, including the population, I am so tired of hearing about these poor cruise ships needing to make up lost money, we all need that. they are simply riding the Covid coat tail like many big businesses.
  4. I have been saying this forever since the start of paying for specialty restaurants, it started I think at 25 dollars, look where they are now and people love to pay, it will be the same with suites. I have a ss booked for January, I have only stayed in a suite a few times but it was very nice to have a butler for a latte in the morning and teas in the afternoon, special, I will be a little angry if they decide to do away with that perk and not lower prices of the suites who no longer get them.
  5. I guess I just don’t get it, booked a cruise for next year two weeks before this promotion was activated and I can’t use it. The cruise is a year away, it really is a new booking. Anyway, guess I can always cancel and rebook but seems like a lot of trouble. I guess rules are rules.
  6. Westerdam June 18 staffing seemed great, way better then our celebrity cruise was in Jan and Feb.
  7. I love cruising and will continue to cruise with whichever cruiseline I wish to cruise….thank you for giving me the option to leave though. I have and I’ll continue to pay their ridiculous fees because I like to choose my own cabin, it’s not all about saving a few bucks, it’s about how everything is about making more money above and beyond. they could easily solve this by just raising the fee by 10 or 15 percent and not having all of these different prices. I have many choices in cruising and I choose by itinerary , cost and cabin choice. you cheerleaders really are the company’s dream, anything they choose to do is alright with you, that’s fine but as long as they can do it without complaint or loss of business things will just keep going up up up. I pay what they deem fair do not complain to them, love my cruises, but it does not mean I agree with their policy of an up charge to choose a room. you obviously from your response think it’s fine for airlines to charge to choose an isle seat, which is a fairly new charge, most people know including the government that airlines are charging for everything extra, soon it will be soda and water, yet I still pay because what can I as one person do? Nothing! So let’s keep cheering for all of the ways we can let them charge us. I will just enjoy life, my cruising and be sure not to say anything negative about the way anybody does anything on these boards. It is my opinion and I was under the impression everybody’s opinion was welcome on these boards. Apparently only opinions that are agreeable and nothing else!
  8. Really? It is a fee, I pay the fee to book the cabin I want. When I book on celebrity I am not charged extra to pick my own cabin. The FEES have not been around for decades, I have been around for decades and I’m here to tell you it is todays world. not trying to be obstinate if I want to sail HAL I will and I will pay the FEES to chose my own cabin, I stand by my first comment, the FEE is ridiculous as are all the extra fees a lot of companies are charging now IN TODAYS WORLD!
  9. I think that fee is ridiculous! Just like the airlines charging extra if you pick an aisle seat. Todays world I guess and if we want an aisle seat or to choose our own room, we are being held hostage and have to pay. Welcome to todays world
  10. My first time in retreat this January SS. I must say reading this post does concern me a little as celebrity charges ALOT for a suite and access to these perks. I’m not understanding how they can offer this access to other rooms not being a suite, I do not think a crowded retreat area with no seats sounds like a vacation I just paid extra for. I am not trying to step on anyone’s toes or sound uppity, but I have traveled pretty extensively with celebrity always in a regular balcony and figured I would try this as it sounded like wonderful pampering for a change, now I’m not so sure. I understand the OP’s concern as it is very misleading and I do hope she gets it resolved I just wish celebrity stop being so confusing to their passengers.
  11. Did you like the ship? Have never been on her. Just got off Westerdam and really enjoyed her. Could have booked her again but wanted to try a new one.
  12. Does anyone know what floor aft in the corner Neptune suites the balcony is the largest? we are currently booked on 5 corner Neptune but the balcony does not look very deep. also, my friends would like to book the room next door and I cannot tell if the balcony door opens up does anyone know. thank you so much if you have any info to share.
  13. We were on the westerdam the week before, had a wonderful cruise and weather. So glad you enjoyed your cruise also, I would cruise on her again in a minute.
  14. Free or pay for, I’m done with their lobster. The free in barely edible and I’m not paying for food in the MDR
  15. Why do two out of the 3 people boarding Saturday downloaded the pictures and the third persons photo WILL NOT download? I have been trying for 2 days, so frustrated.
  16. I’m on this Saturday, very little info in the Westie in Alaska, posts from other ships that are there.
  17. thank you for this Westerdam review, I am boarding in two weeks and I must admit, I have been hesitant due to the negative reviews. Again, thank you.
  18. I have said this for a few years, there are so many celebrity cheerleaders though, sadly nothing will change. Just make excuses, keep paying and celebrity will laugh all the way to the bank. Do any of you honestly think these extra charges will go away when the majority are more than willing to pay them? How they are doing this is so wrong, just raise the cruise price and still make it all inclusive, but they both raised the cruise price and threw in extra charges everywhere. I love cruising, celebrity has always been my line of choice, I will cruise with them again, I just won’t buy specialty dining, won’t pay for room service and any other extra charges they throw my way. I am also now, very open to other cruise lines.
  19. I agree with you on the food quality. I was on the edge for 10 days and infinity for two weeks and was so disappointed in the food. No steak other the the everyday strip. No prime rib, lots of “short rib” (stew meat) lots of pork, I’ve been on a lot of celebrity cruises and these two were a disappointment. Going on Holland America in June and on their boards there is a lot of complaining too. We shall see.
  20. I went back to look and it was posted twice in error, I was having trouble posing it and must have hit post twice. Pardon the error. But I have also posted two different questions about boarding. I’m a grandma and don’t usually board with teenagers and I’m trying to be informed sorry.
  21. Leaving from Seattle round trip to Alaska in a couple weeks and my daughter and grandkids ages 18 and 16 are also going. My grandson had his drivers license but my grand daughter does not have a state ID SHE IS STILL IN DRIVERS ED. Anyway Holland says you need a birth certificate and a state picture ID. do you think she can board with just a birth certificate? Has anyone done this before?
  22. Do I have to print out the boarding pass for each of us going on this cruise? New to Holland America boarding, on celebrity we took our own security picture, we also could send our boarding pass to our wallet in our smart phone. I see no option for that with HAL. I don’t think the pass is complete yet as it does not have our arrival time yet. I really don’t want to print that out for all 6 of us.
