  1. We've never had any trouble bringing on a bottle of water (we bring one bottle each, not multiple bottles) or any toiletries. Shampoo, conditioner, mouth wash... We need this stuff and HAL is not going to take it away from us.
  2. Happy New Year, Alphen! When I first booked our 14 day Montreal to Ft. Lauderdale cruise it included Gaspe', Bar Harbor (I figured that port might go away due to the village's stance on cruising), and St. John, New Brunswick. Those 3 really cool ports were replaced by 2 ports - Eastport, Maine and Portland Maine, and another day at sea. There is really nothing of interest to us in Eastport. As far as Portland goes, I am not a fan of big cities, and am not thrilled with going there. Gaspe' would have been a much nicer place for us to go. We don't have any plans to cancel as we have some family business to attend to in Toronto and a meet up with old friends in Montreal prior to the cruise. We have lots to look forward to and are now looking forward to time on the ship instead of most of the ports. We will have a great time despite the port changes. Cheers, Annie
  3. We are departing Montreal on October 5, 2024 on Volendam. We've already had a few port cancelations, and I hope that PEI is not cancelled on us, too. Our itinerary is already vastly differently than when we booked.
  4. No one needs to unpack and put my underwear away for me. No one! I don't even let my husband unpack for me because when he was sweet enough to do it for me that one time I couldn't find anything. Thanks, but no thanks!🀣
  5. I usually get my hair cut in the salon on board the ship twice per year. I have medium long hair, all the same length, and if I book a spot prior to the cruise for embarkation day it is $67. Here at home no one will touch me for under $125. It's a bargain on board!
  6. For me it's been from 3 days through a couple of weeks after the cruise ends.
  7. We are booked on a cruise that departs Montreal on October 5, 2024. I told a friend who lives there what our plans were and she was very excited for us, saying that October 5th is the target date for beautiful leaves in her city, when the fall colors are usually at their peak.
  8. This has been going on for years. We were booked on a 7 night cruise on Carnival's Sensation to the Eastern Caribbean for January, 1998. We had two outside cabins - One for us and our 8 year old daughter, and one next door for our teenage sons. About 2 weeks before the cruise they called and explained that the Sensation was overbooked, and would we mind changing to the Imagination, which was leaving the same day, but on a Western Caribbean itinerary. I told them, "No, thank you" because we'd taken that exact same Imagination cruise in 1996 when the ship was brand new. We wanted to try something different. Then they offered us 2 Grand Suites if we traded! I told them yes without hesitation. My oldest turned 16 on that trip, and those boys had the best time in their suite. We all had an amazing time. I've never been offered anything like that since.
  9. Thanks so much, Jeroen! Please say hello to Annie for us. We wish you were on this cruise.😊
  10. WooHoo! Thank you so much! We are so ready to get out of the snow (yes, it's here already!) and find some sun and fun. I'm off work for an entire month! Yay! No cooking! Hooray! We are in the midst of packing and are looking forward to flying away on Tuesday night. Thanks so much for the Bon Voyage! We're excited. πŸ˜ƒ
  11. Sometimes we purchase our flights through Flight Ease, sometimes we don't. We live in Fairbanks, Alaska, so it's a long way from here to anywhere. Next week we are flying from Fairbanks to Athens for a cruise on Oosterdam. When we were searching for flight options, Flight Ease offered economy fares on Delta beginning at $549 per person. That's 11 time zones away. I've paid more than that in the past just to get to Seattle. My search via airline websites had prices starting at about $1150 per person. Flight Ease for the win!
  12. I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to Fairbanks and Denali. A little bit of Alaska trivia... That Subway restaurant you got sandwiches from in Denali, that area is called Glitter Gulch by us locals. When driving the Parks there is nothing for miles and miles, then BOOM! Glitter Gulch is just there with many garish buildings and huge signs, and with 2 stoplights! We tend to get out of there as fast as we can to continue our drive. πŸ˜†
  13. You may have better luck getting answers by posting this question on the Ports of Call/Australia boards.
  14. Enjoy every moment of your cruise, Jacqui! You deserve only the best. Thank you for all of your hard work! 😊
  15. Hi Jacqui, Please add me to Westerdam - 27-Apr-24 - 16 day North Pacific Crossing. We are part of the Sail with Seth group and are looking forward to a great time!😊
  16. Sometimes they do sell out early. We did a 14 night Norway cruise this past May and most of the excursions that included the Flam railway sold quickly. It would probably be wise to book any bucket list items early. You can always cancel later if you change your mind.
  17. I booked 2 cruises online last night. I did receive an email for each booking.
  18. Hi everyone! We are Annie and Kevin from Fairbanks, Alaska and we just booked this cruise back-to-back with the 7 night Australia preceding it on February 16, 2025 for 18 nights onboard! We are so excited. This will be our first trip to Australia and South Pacific islands. This will be a very special trip for us, as we'll be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We can't wait to see Brisbane prior to the cruise. So many new adventures are coming! Cheers, Annie
  19. Yes, Japan is part of the itinerary. It's a 30 day repositioning cruise to Australia.
  20. When we were on Oosterdam from late March to mid April, 2023 the captain said that the ship would be going into dry dock in 2025. There is speculation that it might go into dry dock on October 8th of this year for 12 days, but it may just be chartered for those dates. I am on board for 26 nights beginning October 20, 2023, so I am trying to keep up with any information that I see about it. So far there hasn't been much of that.
