  1. What I've found is the difference is simply $20. I have a Delta Skymiles account, so I prefer to book directly with them. I have upcoming flights FAI-SEA-AMS on Delta, then AMS-ATH on Delta operated by KLM. If you are a member of either Delta's or KLM's mileage programs, you will be able to obtain miles either way you book it. Most airlines (Delta and KLM included) offer free luggage for international flights. One thing I've had to do when choosing seats for my upcoming flights described above, is to call KLM and ask for my confirmation code for that last flight from AMS-ATH so that I can get into that reservation online. I was not able to choose my KLM seats on the Delta website.
  2. We are on the same cruise, and we should be at the pier. They will allow people to leave the ship as soon as it is cleared, though they may give people with HAL tours priority. We are also wanting to get moving quickly that morning, but we will not be in a mad rush if we are asked to wait. Sometimes ships can arrive early into port, and usually every effort is made to allow passengers on and off quickly.
  3. These problems have been going on for a very long time now and I would think that accepting payments from clients might be a motivator to fix their website. But no. Not yet. It's frustrating.
  4. I tried adding a photo a couple of times and it never worked, so I don't even bother trying anymore. I've never had a problem at the pier... They will take your photo and add it. In some cases they've even used our photos from previous cruises.
  5. Regarding the Oosterdam and the dry dock listed for October 8th through the 20th, 2023 - We were onboard the O for 17 nights this past March/April. During the captain's Q&A, a passenger asked when Oosterdam's next dry dock would be, and he stated that it would be in 2025. This concerned me because I am scheduled to embark on October 20th. I am curious as to where you found the information about the ship going into dry dock on October 8th. Thanks!
  6. I wonder about this, too. Even a parking ticket is technically a crime.
  7. I always load my first machine of the cruise with cash. If I win, I keep playing on that money. I do not charge gambling funds to my onboard account. You can load cash in on most machines, but will have to cash out at the casino desk. I always wait until the last day of the cruise to cash out.
  8. I was on Rotterdam in October and on Nieuw Statendam in May. Both ships had good food, but depending on the head chef on any sailing determines how good it might be. I do eat meat, but sometimes I order the vegetarian offering on HAL ships. They are usually very, very good! In March/April we were onboard Oosterdam for 17 nights and I ordered the mushroom strudel for dinner. It was absolutely wonderful and probably the best meal I had over the course of the cruise. Then, a month later I was on Nieuw Statendam and got excited to see the same dish being served one night. Oh WOW my disappointment! It was mostly spinach (and I do love spinach), but there were maybe 4 slices of mushroom TOTAL and the breading/strudel was tough and tasteless. I was so disappointed! So it just depends. It can be good or bad depending on who is in charge of the kitchen on any particular sailing.
  9. I received a casino rate for a cruise I've been wanting to book yesterday. Today the special rate isn't showing on HAL. I am waiting for my TA to call me back with prices. It's a bit frustrating, as I know that the special rates can sell out quickly.
  10. Like I said, their may only be one driver for Lyft. I haven't seen an Uber around here since before the pandemic.
  11. I live in Fairbanks. There aren't really any Uber or Lyft (or maybe there is 1 Lyft driver left at this point), but there are taxis! Yellow/Eagle 907-455-5555 King Cab/Alaska Cab 907-452-2222 Arctic Taxi 907-455-0000 Have fun on your tours. The weather is beautiful so far this summer.
  12. I did this cruise this past March/April and absolutely loved it. We saw so many interesting things. The staff was wonderful on this ship, and the food was very good. I didn't want to get off the ship and come home.
  13. I'd explained that I'd already done that.
  14. I’ve been having trouble with the Navigator app for 2 days now. We board Nieuw Statendam in Amsterdam on Sunday. Grr! I’ve never had any trouble with the app in the past. I tried logging out and back in. It didn’t work. I deleted it then reinstalled it. I’ve turned my iPhone off and back on several times. I sure hope they fix the problem soon.
  15. My husband, daughter (15 at the time - she's 33 now), and I cruised on the Island Princess over the Christmas and New Year holidays some years ago. This was a 15 night cruise to Hawaii, r/t from Los Angeles. We figured that there wouldn't be that many kids on board because of the length of the cruise. Oh boy, were we wrong! There were just over 600, and some of those kids were not nice or well behaved. We have never considered another holiday cruise no matter what the length. My last cruise was on Oosterdam from Santiago, Chile to Ft. Lauderdale this past March/April, a 17 nighter. There were 5 kids on board and they were very well behaved. A much better experience. Most of our HAL cruises have less than 20 kids on board. I love kids, but I will not book a cruise when there might be more kids than the kids clubs can handle. So no holidays, and no mid summer cruises. The summer thing is not a problem for us because we live in Alaska, and it would be silly to leave at that time of year.
  16. Thank you, Jacqui, for the post and to everyone else for the Bon Voyage! Kevin and I are so excited about this cruise. We are almost packed up and are departing for Amsterdam on Thursday night. Can't wait!😊
  17. Definitely! Let's do it! We can decide when we'd like to have it, then book it onboard shortly after we embark. We can't wait to see you guys again! 🥰
