  1. Belle, I'm still here! My weekend has been going fine - we have our grandson and granddog for the weekend (my son & DIL - are up north snowboarding). It is warming up here a little bit ... might be in low 40's today. I have been eating healthy and didn't buy any snacks for the super bowl (I will probably be disappointed!!!). I did buy a frozen pizza, so will have a slice or two of that for supper tonight. I haven't been eating much as portions of my 12-year molar keeps breaking off (dentist on Thursday) - I'm not really interested in eating now. Wine yes ..... crunchy food no. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Jan
  2. Wow - Not sure were to start Belle - Nice that you are having painting, etc done on the house - I would hate having to move items. Been in our house for almost 35 years and I seem to collected lots of "stuff". Would love to redo the bathroom over! Now for the $10,000 - way to go! Amazing!!! The most I have ever won was $1,500 and I can't imagine that high of a pay-off. Do you do dollar machines? Any particular type that you like the best? I too really don't like getting a 1099 !!! Weighed myself this morning and I stayed the same - not surprised, and am glad I didn't have a gain. I did eat lots of cashews this week - normally I would have eaten chocolate and still have lots from Christmas, but I don't seem to be interested in chocolate any more. Hope everyone had a good week. Jan PS - Belle I am sorry about your back - hopefully it gets better quickly!
  3. Finally remembered to weigh myself and am down 0.8# which is what I was up last week - just keeping about the same weight. Probably should get motivated! Jan
  4. Belle welcome back - I'm sorry you hurt your back - I do know the feeling! Take care - Jan
  5. Izena - I didn't weigh myself today - I ended up eating breakfast before I realized it was Thursday - perhaps tomorrow. I too am having a problem with sweets --- I was doing so well ... but all of a sudden I seem to be eating "extra". I do have tons of chocolate in the cupboard and the freezer that was given to us for Christmas - so far I haven't eaten any of them .... but I seem to be chowing down on cashews .... I know that my eating is just due to frustration ... but, do need to figure out a way to stop. I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise! It is to be very cold here this week end - In Bangor with wind chill this weekend it is to be 47 degrees below zero. Farther north it is expected to be minus 87 degrees with wind chill. I'm ready for spring!!! Good luck this week to all. Jan
  6. Lois - It is so nice to see that you are still on the boards - I miss the days of everyone talking and discussing all the different outfits!!! Hope everything is going well for you!. Take Care, Jan
  7. Thanks for the comments all - I have ordered the top ..... hopefully it will look good on!!!! Jan
  8. It has been many years since I have posted on the fashion boards. I first found these boards back when I was researching our first cruise in celebration of our 30th anniversary. Today I am posting as we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary and in April will be going on our 25th cruise – this time with all the “kids” and most of the grandkids going with us. It will be a 7 day cruise to Bermuda … easy to get to departure port from Maine . The past few years have been interesting times for all …. So many cruises canceled and life changes for many. Last year I was diagnosed with MBC, which they caught early, so I only ended up having to have radiation for a few months. As of a few weeks ago they have said that as of now they do not see any cancer at this time. Needless to say, this cruise will be a celebration with all the kids, and Ken & I have decided to do a vow renewal – it is important to us that all the kids understand what our life has been and still is, and how blessed we are. So, after all the above, we have decided that our “wedding attire” will be very simple, no gowns, tuxes, etc. Kids have been told they can attend wearing whatever clothes they are comfortable with. Ken has a lovely red shirt that we found in Hawaii, and I want him to wear that with black slacks. I am going to wear black slacks and a nice shirt/blouse. I have found this top and would like to know what others think. https://alexevenings.com/collections/blouses/products/3-4-slv-scallop-hem Thanks for listening - Jan
  9. Good Morning - I did not weigh myself today --- Perhaps tomorrow. We got 12" of snow the other day and today we are getting freezing rain - good thing that I don't need to go anywhere today! Good luck to all. Jan
  10. I too miss all our friends .... I'm hoping that everyone starts to post. I too miss everyone. I'm trying to be good wit weight loss, but really need everyone to help share their journey. Jan
  11. Izena - thanks for starting the thread. I have been trying to be good about eating healthy. DH unfortunately gave me a can of chocolate covered raisins (girl scouts) I think I ate about half of them before I even realized how many I had eaten .... I too have to stay away from sweets .... I only eat one and then one more and then one more ... and on and on. It never seems like a lot until I see the empty can. I have kind of been off food this week .... I made homemade chili the other night and it just tasted really odd. I always have creamy tomato soup for lunch (campbell's one serving soups) and that tasted odd too ... ended up throwing the soup away. I really don't have much desire to eat although I do like to have a glass or two of wine in the evenings. I'm trying to cut back on that too. I am down 0.8# this week. I thought I would have a gain as I had a loss last week (I seem to yo-yo all the time). I would still like to lose 25# - could stand to lose a lot more than that, but would be happy with that. One of these days perhaps I will get the motivation. Hope everyone has a good week. Jan
  12. Breakneckspeed - Welcome to the group - everyone is welcome here. It is nice when new people join! We will all support you, sounds like you have a plan and a goal. Good luck! Keep posting - we will listen! Jan
  13. Izena - sounds like this has been a great week for you! Weather is crazy here too - almost no snow and the temps have been a little warmer than normal. It could change anytime though. I stayed the same this week. Was hoping for a little loss - but, better than gaining. I meet with the cancer surgeon for a follow-up tomorrow. Had a mammogram last Friday and everything was normal. I'm ok. Been booking tours for our cruise in April - it keeps me busy! Jan
  14. I am actually down 1.2# this week. Perhaps it will stay - I really need to lose. Izena - I am not looking at financial information I know its going to be a total mess. It will rebound some time this year (maybe, hopefully) Belle - Nice that you are still on a cruise --- 65 days is amazing! Jan
  15. I stayed the same again this week. I've written this post a few hundred times, but haven't posted ..... Izena & Jo ... I think we must be related. My mom was one of 6 kids that lived to be adults .... one brother died in his 40's of heart disease ... my mom and her siblings all had heart bi-pass by the time they were in their early 60's. ( my mom had 6 done and they had to close her up and couldn't do anything more). My mom and her siblings all had Alzheimer's ... one aunt by the time she was in her early 50's ... didn't live long with it. It was noticeable with my mom by the time she was 60 and she lived for 20 years with it. I can remember her thinking that there was someone living in the tv that was having an affair with my dad ... The last coherent thing my mom said was that she loved me. No one should live with it for 20 years ... even the heart doctor apologized for doing such a good job on her bi-pass. Every day when I forget a word I worry about it happening. I was so surprised to have cancer as I really thought I would have Alzheimer's first. I do have an agreement with my doctor about testing for it .... I have a lot of living I want to do. We all need to continue continuing on. Jan PS - Jo - I forgot to mention on a previous thread that our last cruise was on NCL. PSS - Izena - Happy Birthday - Hope you had a wonderful day
  16. I weighed myself this morning (my rings were very tight, so know there is extra water weight) I stayed the same from before our cruise, so I am happy. We did a lot of walking and after a few days or so, I wasn't really interested in food. The serving sizes are way to big. Hope everyone is doing well. Izena - That is wonderful on the walking, I really need to walk more at home!!! Jan
  17. Good Morning - We got back from our cruise at midnight ... I'm tired, but we had a good time. Will post later. Weighed myself this morning and seem to be down, but we will see where it is on Thursday. Jan
  18. Izena -I find the journey to maintain a loss very difficult. That is where I have problems - Probably the biggest reason I have posted for so many years. We leave for our newest cruise tomorrow ..... I think our flight is out around 5:00 am ..... Hate getting up early. Today was a sad day - My Molly is now in a better place - we went to the vet this afternoon - It was time, but it is so difficult. I think being away from home will help, but it will be so difficult when we get back home. I will try to check in while I'm gone, but can't guarantee it! Jan
  19. Yes, you get 1099 even when you are in international waters! ($1,200 from slots or bingo). This is not total for the cruise only each time the win is for $1,200 or more. Molly has pancreatitis --- it is better, but not completely gone. She now only has one pill per day. She is sleeping most of the time and when up is drinking lots of water. She also has arthritis in her spine. She just turned 11 .... I am worried about going away, but know that my DD and her DH will be great with her. Our cruise is a 9 night Eastern Caribbean and then we will stay on the ship for a 3 night Bahamas cruise. It will be nice to get away. Jan
  20. Good Morning All. Belle nice that you won! (Not nice that you have to pay taxes on it). I've only had one time that I got a 1099 .... but many times I have managed to come back with everything that I went with .... that works!!!! Hope you have a great time in Hawaii ... Love it there Kauai is my favorite place ... the scenery is amazing. Someday I will get back! Izena - Great that you have maintained in range. I stayed the same this week (I'll take it). We leave on Tuesday and our dog is sick. My DD & DSIL will be taking care of her.
  21. Belle - We leave Maine on the 6th and will be on the ship on the 7th. We come back to town on the 18th in the evening and then really need to finish up Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful time ... enjoy every minute. I keep getting free cruises, but unfortunately would have to fly to different places and that is crazy pricing!!! Talk to you when you get back. Jan
  22. Finally weighed myself this morning and I am down 2.0# (we will see if it stays around!). Today I am going "small business Saturday" shopping with my kids ... looking forward to it. Jan
  23. Belle - Nice to hear from you - thanks for starting the thread. As usual I did not weigh myself today .... but I cooked Thanksgiving, which meant that I don't really eat. I loved listening to all the "kids" interact .... that is what Thanksgiving is about (to me anyway). Belle, you have lots of things in the works ... Nice that you have things that will be done in your house by the time you get back ... that is the best way to complete tasks!!!! We have had our dog (yellow lab - Molly) at the vet for the past week. She is 11 tomorrow - she has been having problems and they determined that she has pancreatitis ... the vet was very kind, but also let us know that about 40% do not make it. She is now home ($4,000 later) and she is starting to perk up a little .... tons of pills and a bland diet .... she is such an amazing baby .... so looking forward to when her tail starts wagging again. Hope everyone had a good day. Jan
  24. Belle - It is two cruises - first with DH, and youngest son and his husband - 9 night Caribbean - love cruising with them - they are so much fun. B2B - second leg just DH & I - 3 night Bahamas cruise. Looking forward to it. My burns are getting better and I think they will be fine by the time we leave. Our dog (Molly) hasn't been feeling well and she has been staying at the vets (came home today) .... she has pancreatitis .... they have done a lot (cost $4,000) .... but she is now home and is on a bland diet and has numerous pills .... I hope everything stays well. She will be 11 the day after Thanksgiving. Omsbud - Happy Thanksgiving to you too .... and to everyone else. I am cooking tonight as much as possible, so that tomorrow is a little easier. I make the Pioneer Woman's mashed potatoes and they are always a hit with all the kids. Jan
